JUNE 2022
PRESIDENT’S MONTHLY MESSAGE
My Dear Sorors, It is hard to believe that it has been two years since this administra on
took the oath of office to serve as the officers of Hampton Alumnae Chapter. When we
started this biennium, we never thought that we would operate in a virtual environment
for this long. We never thought that viewing each other through small windows on a
computer screen would become our norm. Despite, those challenges we moved
forward, adjusted, and delivered programs with the excellence that our Chapter has
come to be known for.
I am forever grateful to each of you for your commitment to giving YOUR best, so that
collec vely, we could be OUR best. As members of Hampton Alumnae we never rest on
our laurels and con nually build on the successes to improve our communi es.
In this issue, we take a moment to look back and highlight the amazing impact our
commi ees have made from 2020-2022. When I look at all that we have done, I am in
complete awe. Thank you to all of the commi ees and members for all that you do. Be
blessed and safe.
With love, service and sisterhood,

SISTERS, when we look back over the past two years, it's hard
not to think about all the struggles we had to endure. All of us
can agree this biennium was not typical for our sorority by any
sense of the imagina on.
Even though I'm sure most of us are glad that we are ge ng to
a place where we are finally back to some sense of normal, we
also know that during these past couple of years, God was in
the midst of EVERYTHING we had to endure. You see, sisters,
we're always talking about discovering God's plan and purpose
for our lives and our sorority. These last few years put that
value to the test.
Looking back, the pain and fear during a global pandemic were overwhelming. We had to
figure out how to muster through life in ways we did not understand in our personal and
professional lives. Well, our Sorority was no different. We had to figure out how to con nue
pressing forward, giving back to the communi es we serve and staying commi ed to our
founding principles as the world ba led a global pandemic. Life has been challenging and
at mes, overwhelming. However, God has always been there.
What He had in store for us these past few years was beyond what we could have ever
imagined. Psalm 46:10 tells us, "Be s ll, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among
the na ons; I will be exalted in the earth.” We had to put down our desires and
wholeheartedly stand in awe of Him and His mighty power as God because He is sovereign,
faithful, omnipotent, and unfailing.
To sum it up, sisters, despite our doubts and fears, if we take a step back, we'll realize that
God did some amazing things during our most perplexing mes. And if we focus on the
good, we'll also recognize that He did some fantas c things for our sorority and our
chapter. Here's a look back at God's greatness:
We, on purpose, devoted more quiet me with the Lord
We learned to trust in Him and His word
We fully applied pa ence and the will to persevere
Our new Chapter President and leadership team faithfully led by example
We con nued our monthly mee ngs via Zoom
We had two successful fundraisers and raised over $60K collec vely
During Sisterhood month, we learned various ways to celebrate in a fun, sisterly way
We focused on healthy lives, healthy living- Virtual Delta Dashes
We con nued to serve our community despite limita ons
Last but not least, the South Atlan c Region celebrated Founders Day at the
Hampton Conven on Center, where our Na onal Chaplain Bishop Vash Murphy
McKenzie gave us some encouraging words. Bishop Murphy-McKenzie told us “to
turn our inten ons into a plan and sit with people ac vely working on their
inten ons.” Bishop Murphy-McKenzie also told us “not to see our sisters but to look
beyond what we see. Sawubona, I see you, I see your worth, I value you.”
Sorors, this biennium has taught us to look beyond what we physically see. That is part of
having faith. Hebrews 11:1 tells us, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the
evidence of things we cannot see.” Faith has allowed us to see beyond everything that has
taken place over the last couple of years. We must con nue to move forward in our faith by
pu ng our total weight on God to live our Delta lives joyfully with hear elt an cipa on for
our next biennium years.
