REGION-Places that are close to one another and share some characteristics belong the same region.
ENVIROMENT- the environment is the natural surroundings of a place.
LANDFORMS- the shape and nature of the lands. Hills, valleys, and mountains are types of landforms.
CLIMATE- the average weather in a place over a long period of time is called its climate.
RESOURCE- these are materials used to produce crops or other products.
HEMISPHERE- the equator and the prime meridian each divides the earth in half. Each half of earth is
called hemisphere.
KEY- the key unlocks the meaning of the map by explaining the symbols, colors and lines.
SCALE BAR- the scale bar is an important part of the map it tells how a measure space on the map
corresponds to actual distances on earth.
COMPASS ROSE- the compass rose shows direction.
MAP PROJECTION- a map projection distorts some aspects of earth in order to represent other aspects
accurately as possible on flat map.
SCLAE- scale is the relationship between distances on a map and earth.
ELEVATION- they picture the location, size, and shape of these features.
RELIEF- physical maps usually show relief, or the difference between the elevation of one feature and
the elevation of another feature near it.
THEMATIC MAPS- show more specialized information.
TECHNOLOGY- is any way that scientific discoveries are applied to practical use.
REMOTE SENSING- simply means getting information from far away.
