LETTER FROM THE CHAIR

Dear Friends:

Welcome to the 2021 Michigan Works! Association Impact Awards!

The achievements honored through this year’s Impact Awards are extra special because they highlight
success stories that took place during one of the toughest years we have ever experienced -- 2020.
This year’s awards ceremony also marks the first time we have not met in-person. While conducting this
awards ceremony virtually this year is a very different experience, we believe it is equally exciting!

The Michigan Works! demand-driven approach was even more important over this past year as the
demand for jobs was greatly impacted by the pandemic both in the number and type of jobs needed by
employers and the type of assistance needed by job seekers. Today’s event recognizes noteworthy
accomplishments achieved despite, in many cases, having to overcome significant barriers. The award
winners we are recognizing include private sector businesses, workers, Michigan Works! network
members and partners. Together, we are building stronger connections that boost community, economic,
and talent development in our state.

A special thanks goes to the policy leaders, lawmakers, community partners and others in the private,
nonprofit, and education sectors who have helped make today’s achievements possible.

As we reflect on the successes of the past year, we look forward to opening doors and changing lives
through continued commitment and dedication to building a skilled workforce in Michigan. The services
Michigan Works! offers will be more important than ever in 2021 as the economy recovers from the
pandemic and Michiganders get back to work.

Congratulations to all of today’s winners and best wishes for a prosperous future.

Sincerely,

Charlotte (Charlie) Mahoney
Chairperson, Board of Directors, Michigan Works! Association
President, Four-M Associates, LLC
