Dominica was represented at the 35th annual Seatrade

newly renovated Miami Beach Convention Center, from
April 8-11, 2019. The Dominican delegation, led by the
Minister for Tourism & Culture, Honorable Senator
Robert Tonge, consisted of representatives from
Dominica Air & Seaport Authority, Discover Dominica
Authority (DDA) and local tour operators. The four-
day conference programme catered to professional
players within the market to provide them with insight
into the cruise industry. There was international
representation from ministries of tourism, port
authorities, tourist boards and private sector entities at
this year’s Seatrade Cruise Global Conference.

Special prescheduled meetings were held with
Carnival Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal
Caribbean Cruise Line, TUI Cruises, MSC Cruises,
Princess Cruises and Wind Star Cruises. Discussions
centered on the lines’ commitment for increased
cruise calls to the island for the 2020/2021 cruise
season. A follow up meeting, from a January 2019 visit
to the destination which centered on additional calls
and the possibility of summer calls by Norwegian
Cruise Lines, was held with Sandi Weir, Vice President,
and Destination Development & Government Relations.

Dominica exhibited at booth #489; a 10 x 10 booth
space. The booth décor included cruise retractable
promotional banner (as the backdrop), two 55” flat TV
monitors (for cruise promotional video, slides of specific
sites among others) and table with DDA branded
giveaway items. Persons visiting the booth inquired of
the island’s sites and attractions, air access and the
