草胡椒 一年生肉質草本，高 20-40cm.莖直立或基部有時平臥，粗 1-
2mm，分枝，無毛，下部節上常生不定根。葉互生；葉柄長 1-2cm；葉片闊卵
形或卵頭三角形，長和寬近相等，約 1-3.5cm，先端短尖或鈍，基部心形，兩
面均無毛，葉脈 5-7 條，基出，網狀不明；膜質，半透明。穗狀花序頂生於莖
上端，與葉對生，淡綠色，細弱，長 2-6cm，徑不及 1mm，其與共序軸均無
毛；花疏生；苞片近圓形，直徑約 0.5mm，中央有細短柄，盾狀；花極小，兩
性，無花被，雄蕊 2，有短花絲，花藥近圓形；子房橢圓形，柱頭頂生，被短
柔毛。漿果球形，極小，先端尖，直徑不超過 0.5mm。 藥理作用. 功 效：
散瘀止痛、清熱燥濕。 主 治：用於跌打損傷、燒傷。

Peperomia pellucida (also known by common names pepper
elder, shining bush plant, and man to man) is an annual, shallow-rooted
herb, usually growing to a height of about 15 to 45 cm. it is characterized by
succulent stems, shiny, heart-shaped, fleshy leaves and tiny, dot-like seeds
attached to several fruiting spikes. It has a mustard-like odor when crushed.
The family Piperaceae comprises about a dozen genera and around 3000
species. The genus Peperomia represents nearly half of the Piperaceae with
the genus Piper making the rest.

Uses
Peperomia pellucida has been used as a food item as well as a medicinal
herb. Although mostly grown for its ornamental foliage, the entire plant is
edible, both cooked and raw. It is also said that it can be a good refrigerant.
