Creative Labs The Magazine

From the Editorial Director

I’d like to start by giving my deepest and most sincere gratitude to God and to all
those that have supported the vision throughout the years, as well as all our valued
clients and subscribers. Without whom, none of this would have been possible, and
to my daughter River who always continues to be my inspiration and muse.

The purpose of this magazine is to provide a forum for free expressionism though
various art forms, a platform for all new up and coming artists, creators, designers
and other creative beings I’ve had the pleasure to meet this year, showcase their
uniqueness.

May Creative Labs. The Magazine, December 2018 edition be the first of many and
be as inspirational and captivating as we continue to aspire to achieve the
“Vision Beyond the Lens”.

Pictured: Elias Moyo, Graffiti Artist With graffiti, inspiration comes from absolutely
anything, it doesn’t have barriers your own
imagination is the limit. My wish as a graffiti
artist is for every city to have somewhere all
graffiti artists, all artists, can come and freely
express themselves in any way they please
without fear of being charged of vandalism of
property free art…

-Elias Moyo

To me “art” is all about bringing out your

inner true self. It’s all about self-expression, by
far graffiti is the rawest form of art and
honestly, an embodiment of pure imagination.
You get to draw and create whatever you want
however you want, its somewhat freedom.
And that is what inspired me to get into
graffiti.

I started drawing when I was 13, I remember it
was my nickname at the time (Elno). The
combination of the bold font, exclamation
marks and chains, I personally thought it
wasn’t all that good but the reaction I got from
everyone who saw it motivated me to keep
drawing. I wasn’t all that good at first but the
more I made my graffiti about me, about my
life the better they came out. That’s why each
one tells a part of my life story, where I’ve
been, what I’ve been through and some are
dedicated to people who make an impact in
my life.

Botanical beauties
Many a pant in the botanical world has its beautiful flowers,
perfume and shape, but so often the flowering period is limited.
This can be an advantage since, like the seasons,
one looks forward to these times. With a little care and attention,
all plants can become strong, healthy-looking, bushes with
attractive blooms.

Over the Hedge
A hedge is merely a line of plants which respond to being clipped into
A certain shape. The most commonly grown in Bulawayo is the Duranta.
There is no need to be too conventional though Hibiscus, cypress,
Pyracantha And privet have proved to be effective and meet
most requirements, Succeeding over a wide range of soils.
To avoid a sense of over crowding separating flowers and hedges with
winding connecting narrow path ways of either grass, pavers or
gardening ash and gravel make for a beautiful scenery especially
for beautifying outdoor garden photo shoots.

The sky is the limit: In days of old, the vigorous

barriers and restrictions imposed on young wemen
including any form formal education. Civilisation has brought us
out of these chains of bondage, finally women began to mean
something other than just window dressing and the common
house wife, and now we as ladies can be heard and should use
our voices to speak out to all the potential injustices to be faced
by future generations to come. We cannot continue to be held
subservient to our male counter parts and should be seen as
equals. Women such as Hillary Clinton have paved the way and
further proven that women are equals as she almost retained
one of the most powerful seats as leader of the free world.
Women I implore you, stand up for one another, know your
worth,

Be Bold…
Be Brave…
Be beautiful…
Be Yourself…

TTurning the ables

With

Born and raised in Bulawayo with three sisters. I

did my schooling at Waterford primary, Gifford high
and Denmark college Started out in the Dj-ing world
at a very young age and am blessed to still be at it.

WAS IT A TOUGH INDUSTRY TO ENTER?
Thinking back, I can’t say it was hard to enter as I had
friends or brothers who knew the way around the
industry though it was hard to break into the club
environment and events, put it down to meeting a
few influential people and being at the right place at
the right time go me here today.

WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT MUSIC?
MUSIC…like the great Bob Marley once said “when
music hits you, you feel no pain but joy of being
alive”. i think he summed it all up cause there is no
day that goes by without music.

WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON THE SUB-GENRES OF MUSIC
RISING?
It’s good that music is coming up with different genres
cause way back you could listen to a selective music
but now people are now developing interest in
foreign sound, local and if you notice the spread of
music world has increased the music variety by a
huge magine.so I guess let the musicCreative Labs led us.The Magazine

HAVE YOU PLAYED AT BIG FESTIVALS.WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT? -Uteng Mbizo

Have been fortunate to play along with few south African arts like
deejay Zinhle, Dj Naija amazing feeling and experience.

EXPLAIN YOUR SOUND/STYLE OF PLAY

Though my back ground in music was on the hip hop world. i don’t
limit myself to that sound. I have found peace in afrolectro and tech
house genres that I am very comfortable in. i try making my sets
towards the event I’m playing at and the people I’m playing to.

DO YOU PREPARE YOUR SETS?

YESSS…... I do. It’s important to be prepared as you never know what
kind of crowd you will have. I usually create several playlists with
different style play.

WORST GIG?

There’s always a few but the king of all has to be an event by Braas
monkey Bradfield I arrived on time yet to notice the whole complex
had power failure .to my surprise a massive crowd had come through
for support it was such a disappointment

YOUR MOST COMMON EXPRESSION IS?
Siya bo pha.

THE BEST THING SOMEONE HAS EVER COME UP TO YOU AND SAID AT
A GIG?

As a dj a lot of positive and encouraging comments about either the
music played or the way its presented. The best has to be when
someone from the crowd came and asked for a track title…a sign that
the song touched them

THE WORST PIECE OF ADVICE SOMEONES EVER TRIED TO CONVINCE
YOU OF IS…...?

I have meet a lot of people offerinCgreataivedLavbiscThee,Masgaozimne e good some crazy
