Abstract :
Gender equality refers to the equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities for women
and men including girls and boys. The word “Equality” does not mean that women and
men will become the same, what it actually means is the responsibilities, opportunities,
women’s and men’s rights will not depend on whether you are male or female. Gender
equality means that the interests, needs and priorities of both women and men are
taken into consideration recognizing the diversity of different groups of women and men.
Gender equity provides a certain level of playing field for men and women for the sake
of them having a fair chance to realize equal outcomes are a precondition for ensuring
gender equality and human rights. The supreme goal in gender equality is to ensure
that all women and men have equitable access to, and benefit from society’s resources,
opportunities and rewards. And, as part of this, women should be given equal chances
in participation of addressing what is valued and how it can be achieved. Equity is a
means and Equality is the result. Gender equity indicates an element of interpretation of
social justice, usually based on tradition, custom, religion or culture, which is most often
to the detriment of women. The protocol on the “Elimination of All Forms of
Discrimination against Women”, also known as the Women’s Bill of Rights, declares that
countries should take action to eliminate violations of women’s rights, whether by
individuals, groups or organizations. Endeavour to modify social and cultural patterns of
conduct that stereotype either gender or put women in a subservient position, ensure
that women have equal rights in education and equal access to information, eliminate

discrimination against women in their access to health care and end discrimination
against women in all matters relating to marriage and family relations.
Introduction:
The main purpose of gender equality is to achieve genuine equality between men and
women by planting the idea of respecting human rights deeply into society’s soil. A
critical aspect of promoting gender equality is to empower women with a focus on
identifying and addressing power imbalances and give them more autonomy to manage
their own lives. This would make them be able to achieve and maintain their own
reproductive and sexual health. Also to promote better legal protection for women as
currently women are not well protected from domestic sexual and economic violence.
By promoting gender equality, it prevents violence against women and girls. Societies
that value women and men as equal are safer and healthier.
Gender equality is also essential for economic prosperity. It is well known that e very day
which we fail to deliver gender equality, we pay the price. According to victoria’s
government research, Australia’s GDP would increase by 11% if the gender
employment gap was closed, the Australian economy would gain $8 billion if women
transitioned from tertiary education into the workforce at the same rate as men,
businesses with at least 30% women in leadership positions are 15% more profitable,
family violence costs the Victorian economy more than $3.4 billion a year and takes up
40% of police work. Also it was found that women do most unpaid care work, this has

major costs, the unpaid care economy in Australia is nearly six times larger than the
paid economy.
Thesis :
Gender equality is one of the most important human rights and especially in school, it
should exist. However, we can see there are still some students who have experienced
or are suffering from gender equality. Gender equality is the thing that can not
disappear entirely, so some people are stressed and feel uncomfortable because of
unfair treatment or other reasons. For them, our online counselling system can be
helpful and it can make them be calm and release their stress from gender equality.
Problem :
Globally, women have fewer opportunities for economic participation than men, less
access to basic and higher education, greater health and safety risks, and less political
representation.
Guaranteeing the rights of women and handing them over opportunities to reach their
full potential is crucial not only for attaining gender equality, but also for meeting a wide
range of international development goals.Empowered women and girls contribute to the
health and productivity of their families, communities, and countries, creating a ripple
effect that benefits everyone.

Yet gender issues are not focused on women alone, but on the relationship between
men and women in society. The actions and attitudes of men and boys play an essential
role in achieving gender equality.
This is why we decided to undergo the series of surveys and help promote the service
that we’re offering. Questions were asked to students studying in Sunway College
regarding gender inequality with variables like number of female teachers,
Rate of gender equality cases reported, rate of counselling and exam marks in
sociology. These variables will help us with our Hypothesis statements which are
;Short Term effect of gender equality correlates to more rape threats and assault.
:The lack of women’s participation in sports life will result in more female intimidation, in
the long run this can generate gender inequality
Observations :
Target Audience : Sunway College students
Method 1 : Simple Random Sampling
- We chose three places on campus which are G floor, LG 1 floor and LG 2 floor
and we did rock paper scissors for choosing one person’s place. G floor was
chosen, so we started to ask do our survey form to people who stayed on G floor.
Method 2 : Voluntary Response Sampling
- We made the survey form for getting surveys from students and we shared it with
our friends who are in not only CIMP but also in all Sunway College. In addition,
we spread it in various ways such as on Instagram and Facebook.

Discussion :From the research gathered and operated, we found out that some data
supports and contradicts our Hypothesis,The social role hypothesis says that gender
roles defined by unequal opportunity instil differences in preferences. So when women
have the same opportunities as men, these differences should disappear. On the other
hand, the resource hypothesis says that gender preferences aren't created by gender
roles, Eg we see that after analyzing the data, we find out that the number of female
teachers in a university affects the gender inequality there. Based on the primary and
secondary data, there is no ranking for this factor and all the other factors are
important for the University to achieve gender equality. n Qualitative approach is the
only way to collect primary data, which is helpful for collecting different opinions
from the participants. However, it will be more critical and objective for the study to
use both qualitative and quantities approach at the same time. Since 100 interviewees
have participated, the numbers of the participants can be increased, in order to
improve the reliability and validity into higher level.
