1.What is meant by the term resources? Give examples.
• Anything that can be used to satisfy a need is a resource
Ex. Water, air, food grains, house, books etc

2. Why are resources distributed unequally over the earth?
The distribution of natural resources depends upon number of physical factors like terrain,
climate and altitude. The distribution of resources is unequal because these factors differ so much
over the earth.

3. What is resource conservation?
Using resources carefully and giving them time to get renewed is called resource conservation.

4. What is meant by Human resource ? Why are human resources important?
Human Resource refers to the number (quantity) and abilities (mental and physical) of the people.
Human resources are important because it is the skills of human that help in transferring the physical
material into a valuable resource.

5. What is sustainable development?
• Carefully utilising resources so that besides meeting the requirements of the present, needs of
future generations are taken care.
• Development that meets the needs of the present, without depletion of natural resources and
without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs

6. Distinguish between renewable and non-renewable resources.
