3How I celebrated Deepavali Deepavali is among the main festivals of Hinduscelebratedmostly in November.Our Deepavali celebrationbeganwithpainting the house. Few days before Deepavali, wecleanedour house and decorated it with lights.Myfathertookusshopping and I bought new clothes for thefestival.Inthemorning I made a beautiful Rangoli on thecar porch.Inthemorning , we all dressed up in newclothestogotothetemple. I enjoyed a lot in bursting crackerswithmyfriends.This festival of lights is my favourite andI celebrateditwithgreat joy. K. OPPILAN3 KAMBARIt’s Deepavali morning. My family and I wake up at 6:30inthemorningand took bath with Gingelly Oil. After that, I worethenewdressthatmy parents bought for me on Deepavali. Then, wewent totempleforprayers. In the evening my relatives came to my house. MyfamilyandIserved them some Murukku, Jam Tart, AlmondLondonandothersweets. They were at my house till night. SRISHAGI3 KAMBARMY DEEPAVALI 2023 Deepavali is known as festival of lights that celebratedbyalltheIndians around the world including our country Malaysia. Deepavalithis year was celebrated on 12th November 2023. Beforethecelebration my family and I made some preparationfor it. First,weall went for shopping to buy new dresses for us. Myparentsboughtone pair of traditional costume and two pairs of moderndressformy younger sister and me. The dresses are so beautiful. Oneweekbefore Deepavali we started to do our traditional foodsuchas“murukku” and some other sweets. Two days beforeDeepavaliwewent to our grandparents house. On the day, we all wakeupearlyinthe morning and my grandfather applied oil fromheadtotoetoallof us. After we took bath , we all dressed up withour newdressandprayed together. Then we had ‘tosai’ with chickencurryforbreakfast. After breakfast my grandfather gave money‘angpaw’toall the kids at home. At night we all play fire crackersuntil12midnight. 6MY DEEPAVALI CELEBRATION ON12th NOVEMBER2023Before I start my story about Deepavali Celebration,Iwouldlike to wish Happy Deepavali 2023 to all mybelovedteachersand friends of SJKT ST.Theresa’s Convent Taiping. As all knows Deepavali is celebrated byall Hindusfaithallaround the world. This year the Deepavali wascelebratedonSunday,12th November 2023. I too not missedthecelebrationsince it utmost waiting celebration every year byperformingtraditional customs This year celebration was too excitingsincemyparentstook long break and bring us to our grandparentshouseinIpoh,Perak. Moreover, this year my mother put akolamtodecoratemy grandparents house. The kolamis anintricatedesignonthe floor made from coloured rice and powder. On Deepavali, my parents bring me totemplewhereIprayto God. I also wear new clothes which bought at LittleIndiaPenang. We lit and decorate our house with“Agal Vilakku”anoil lamp made from clay. We lit themby usingacottonwickdipped in ghee. This is one of the reasonsthat Deepavaliiscalled as “The Festival of Light”. The signifiesthevictoryofgood over evil and the dispelling of darkness. I also received gift from my parents, uncles, auntiesandgrandparents. We ate delicious food andcookiesmadeandprepared by mother and grandmother. Oneof myfavouritecookies is “acu-murukku”. The most enjoyable part during Deepavali isatnightwhere I played firecrackers with my brother andcousins.
