Page 4 HAPPENINGS November 23, 2023 www.hap2it.com West Side Story and Shazam! Fury of the Gods actress Rachel Zegler says she wanted to star in The Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, because the franchise has always meant so much to her family. "I did read all of the books, and I saw all the movies as they came out, and it was a really lovely kind of bonding experience for my mom, my older sister and I because we all read them together and watched them together," Zegler, 22, said during a recent virtual press conference to promote Songbirds, in which she plays singing warrior Lucy Gray. "When it came to this book, I read it the second it came out in 2020," she added. "I just love that Suzanne was adding onto this story that I loved so much. "And then, when I found out that there's this brown-haired girl who loved to sing from District 12, I just got so excited at the prospect of getting to do something like that, and was reading it, imagining the opportunity to perform as her." Now in theaters, the adaptation of Suzanne Collins' best-selling young adult novel also stars Tom Blyth, Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, Josh Andrés Rivera, Jason Schwartzman and Viola Davis. The dystopian drama is set more than 60 years before the events of The Hunger Games book and film series. It follows the ambitious young Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth), who will some day serve as the tyrannical President of Panem, but for now is assigned to mentor Lucy, a tribute from the impoverished District 12, as she competes in televised death matches to secure food for her community. Zegler adored Jennifer Lawrence's portrayal of the heroine Katniss in the earlier Hunger Games films, but was more interested in creating a fresh new warrior that was all her own than duplicating what Lawrence did. "Watching Jennifer's performance in the original trilogy is watching a masterclass in performance," Zegler said, adding it would have put "unnecessary pressure" on her to closely compare the fierce young women she and Lawrence played. "It's a different character and a different time of Panem," she said. "Lucy Gray is a war-torn teenager who's had everything she knows ripped from her, yet she's still making the best of it. "It was very similar to Katniss in that perspective. But she's a very different dynamic in response to being places in an arena in front of a bunch of people and having to make the world root for her." Lucy Gray is naturally good at this. "She's very persuasive in her performance and very good at getting an audience on her side," Zegler said. "So, it was very fun to play that, but I do think that there are elements of Katniss within her. And that makes it all the more fun to go back and watch the original trilogy and kind of see how Coriolanus remains haunted by Lucy Gray, even in his late life, because there are echoes of her within Katniss Everdeen." Zegler suspects she would behave the same way Lucy Gray did if she ever found herself in similar circumstances in real life. "I would have to win the affections of Panem and then hide and get a lot of sponsors, so that I don't die of hunger. But hide and wait everyone out [is what I'd do]," the actress added. It was Zegler's choice to sing the musical numbers live on set instead of prerecording and lipsyncing to them. "I had done it before on my first film, and I feel really confident in that sphere of performance," said the actress, who listened to folk singer Joan Baez's albums during her downtime to prepare for the musical scenes. "[Singing] was what I kind of came out of the womb doing on stage. So, getting to do that for my peers and on set for my crew and the creative team was something really special that I felt like I could bring to the table." When she first signed on to the project, Zegler was curious to see how designer Trish Summerville would imagine her character's rainbow dress from the novel for the screen. "The only description it gets in the book is that there are pink, blue, and yellow ruffles, and that's it," Zegler laughed. "It was even better than I could've possibly imagined and I think it really speaks for itself." By Karen Butler Born Rachel Anne Zegler May 3, 2001 (age 22) Hackensack, New Jersey Rachel is named after the fictional character Rachel Green, played by Jennifer Aniston in the TV series “Friends.” In high school, Zegler starred in numerous musicals including Belle in “Beauty and the Beast,” Ariel in “The Little Mermaid,” and Princess Fiona in “Shrek: The Musical.” In her film debut as Maria in “West Side Story,” Zegler wins the Best Actress Golden Globe. However, Zegler was initially not invited to attend the 94th Academy Awards ceremony, even though the film received seven nominations. After some controversy over the perceived snub, the Academy invited her to be a presenter. In the production pipeline, Zegler will portray Snow White, alongside Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen in Disney’s next live-action film adaptation of their classic 1937 film. Zegler has nothing but praise for fellow actressJennifer Lawrence. Zegler recalled meeting Lawrence, 33, during a recentepisodeofWatch What Happens Live. "Well, first of all, she's the loveliest person," Zegler said of Lawrence. "Meeting her is one of the best things I think anybody could do, let alone another young woman actor. Francis (Lawrence, Hunger Games director) actually texted me when I sent him the photo of us together, and said, 'Great, the two weirdest people have met finally." Zegler called Lawrence "so real" and said they discussed theHunger Gamescrew members they both know. "We were just really talking about the people from our crew who did the original trilogy who also came over to do our movie, and she was so excited to learn that so many people had decided to come along on our journey too," she said. FYI Rachel Zegler 'Songbirds & Snakes' star Rachel Zegler says she’s a lifelong 'Hunger Games' fan Rachel Zegler is the new heroine in the film “Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” - a prequel to the blockbuster film series “The Hunger Games.”

Banning Together In October, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law banning four common food additives: Red Dye No. 3, potassium bromate, brominated vegetable oil and propylparaben. That might not seem like news to the rest of the country, but what nearly 40 million Californians eat (or don't eat) has an impact on pretty much everybody else. It's not like there will be junk food for Californians and junk food for the rest of us. And, in fact, other states are already considering similar laws. Red Dye No. 3 is the most common of the newly banned additives, used as a colorant in red and pink icings, drinks and candies. Potassium bromate acts as a leavening agent in baked goods. Brominated vegetable oil is primarily found in citrus-flavored store-brand sodas where it works as a stabilizer for the flavor oils. Propylparaben is a preservative, often used in packaged baked goods such as breads, pastries and tortillas. All four chemicals have been linked to cancer, reproductive issues and neurobehavioral concerns. The primary impetus is protecting children, because these additives may affect the endocrine system, which controls hormone functions in the body. But if the thought of your favorite packaged doughnut suddenly lacking the oomph of, say, a dash of potassium bromate has you worried, don't panic just yet. The law goes into effect Jan. 1, 2027, giving manufacturers time to tweak their recipes. Body of Knowledge The glabella is the smooth part of the forehead above and between the eyebrows. A crinkled glabella is the sign of a serious thinker — or maybe just somebody frowning. Stories for the Waiting Room Long COVID affects roughly 6% of American adults infected by the virus. Simply described, it involves the signs, symptoms and conditions of the disease continuing or developing after an acute infection. Among medical experts, long COVID isn't new. It is indistinguishable, in fact, from a condition known as post-infectious syndrome or myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome. Some authorities have suggested long COVID merits a more precise name, one that more fully captures the seriousness of the condition. Best Medicine Laughter is the best medicine, except when treating diarrhea. Observation "Once a nurse, always a nurse. No matter where you go or what you do, you can never truly get out of nursing. It's like the Mafia: you know too much." — Deb Gaudlin, RN Medical History This week in 1984, Baby Fae died. She had been born a month before and diagnosed with an almost-always fatal heart deformity. Doctors proposed a last-resort, experimental transplant, replacing her defective organ with a walnut-sized young baboon heart. Fae survived for 20 days before passing due to complications. The transplanted heart itself had not been rejected. Medical Myths Plant "milk" derived from oats, almonds, rice and other sources is not more nutritious than milk that comes from a cow. Indeed, the latter is typically much higher in protein and the former have more added ingredients, such as sodium and sugars. Med School Q: Both the uvea and choroid perform important sensory functions. Where are they located? A: The eye. The uvea is the middle layer of the eye between the sclera (white part) and the retina (the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye). It has three parts: the iris, the ciliary body (which secretes the transparent liquid within the front of the eye) and the choroid — a layer of blood vessels between the sclera and the retina. www.hap2it.com November 23, 2023 HAPPENINGS Page 11 At Midnight and Dating & New York director Jonah Feingold says his latest romantic comedy, EXmas, is intended to show how heartwarming, yet stressful, the holidays can be. "For a lot of people, the holidays are a very special time of year, but they are also a very difficult time of year," Feingold said in a recent Zoom interview. As someone from a small family, the director said he always wished he had more kin with whom to share the festive winter season. "There is this idealized version of Christmas in Norman Rockwell paintings of big families and that exists for a lot of people and, within that, there is also drama," he said. "There are relatives who don't get along and there are new partners being introduced into the group. On the other side, there are people who don't have a large family and are susceptible to seeing what we think of as the holidays and the commercial idea of Christmas. "What is really great is that we have fun, feel-good movies that help us have some holiday cheer." Holiday movies allow people to escape reality for a brief time and perhaps learn to connect with relatives with whom they don't have much in common, Feingold said. "It is a really wonderful, magical time of the year because we have to distract ourselves from the cold," he joked. Available on Amazon Freevee, EXmas stars Upload alum Robbie Amell and Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester as Graham and Ali, a former couple who end up spending a torturous Christmas together at Graham's parents' house. Ali accepts the family's invitation because everyone thinks Graham will be working and won't be there, and then she shows up unexpectedly. Aside from the holiday theme, the movie also taps into how many people have no closure with their former partner's family when a split occurs. "If you dated someone and you liked their family and you broke up, you definitely considered texting their mom and say, 'Happy Birthday!' But that would send off the wrong message and we can't do that. That's crazy," Feingold laughed. Hart of Dixie and Faking It scribe Dan Steele wrote the screenplay for the film, which costars Michael Hitchcock, Kathryn Greenwood, Veronika Slowikowska and Steven Huy. "This is an amazing family of actors. Everyone brings their A game," Feingold said "When we signed them on it was a very fun pitch: 'Come to Canada. It's summertime and we're going to make a Christmas movie, but I promise you it will be a Christmas movie that lives on its own and says something new about the genre,'" he added. "It will be like Home Alone with your exes." Meester was up for anything, regardless of how silly or outrageous she had to pretend to be. "As soon as you call, 'Action!' she just goes for it," Feingold said. "She goes as far as she can with it and she is so funny and amazing. What a delight to work with an actor who does that and trusts the crew and the vision of the film." Hitchcock and Greenwood are Second City improv comedy troupe veterans who always were riffing with each other on set. "It was like the funniest comedy I've ever seen in real life," Feingold said, adding he did his best to balance the film's funny and emotional elements. "It's such a delicate and hard thing to do," he noted. "When the heart of it comes first, and the comedy comes from the hilarity within the tragedy, it all connects and it was able to work seamlessly." The biggest challenge Feingold faced, he said, was filming so many actors together inside of a house. "People don't realize that when you make a movie with an eightperson family that that is eight actors and eight points of coverage. We are using two cameras on most of these scenes, but I was like, 'Why is this taking so long?'" he said. "My other film, At Midnight, had two romantic interests and that was pretty much the majority of the scenes. The film before that? Dating & New York? Same deal. You would have people come in and out." He eventually figured out the key to creating the "real family element" of EXmas was capturing the "overlapping dialogue" of relatives carrying on competing conversations in the same space. "I looked at The Graduate and I looked at The Philadelphia Story, which sound like absurd references for this movie," Feingold said. "But these are the films ... that juggled large groups and felt the most organic and got the most out of their actors." By Karen Butler Director Jonah Feingold describes 'EXmas' as 'Home Alone' with former flames Leighton Meester and Robbie Amell star in the new holiday rom-com “EXmas”

Page 12 HAPPENINGS November 23, 2023 www.hap2it.com As Disney turns 100, new film ‘Wish’ is filled with Easter eggs The new Disney film “Wish,” now in theaters, is heavily inspired by, and intentionally shaped as a tribute to, the Walt Disney Company, which launched on October 16, 1923. The film follows a 17-year-old girl Asha (Ariana DeBose) who leads a rebellion against a suppressive ruler (Chris Pine) of their utopian kingdom. In honor of the 100th birthday of the Walt Disney Company, the new animated adventure has over 100 allusions and nods to classic Disney films. “When we first wrote the story, we wrote it very straight as this original fairy tale,” Wish co-writer, producer and current CCO of Disney Animation Jennifer Lee says. “And as we were rewriting and things were evolving, certain things would come in that almost felt like they were there for us. Then over time we said, ‘Let’s not take ourselves too seriously. Let’s have fun.’” The references span the history of the company, from classic Disney tropes to tiny specifics which are likely missed upon first viewing. DeBose, who recently took home an Oscar for “West Side Story,” has been looking closely each time they watched the film. “The hidden gems are so great,” she says. “I’ve spotted many of them. I don’t know that I’ve gotten all 100 or over 100 hidden gems or nods, however, you leverage them. But Alice in Wonderland is all over the film, which I love. There are some beautiful references toPocahontas.… Some of this animation is inspired by Sleeping Beauty. … I’ve seen Fox and the Hound. I’ve seenBambi. I’ve seen a lot… if you love Disney, you’re going to find something to love in this movie.” Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney team up in 'SpiderMan' spinoff Sony Pictures is giving a glimpse of the new movieMadame Web. The studio shared a trailer for the superhero film featuring Dakota Johnson (50 Shades of Grey) and Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria, The White Lotus). Madame Web is based on the Marvel Comics character and is a spinoff of the Spider-Man films starring Tom Holland. Johnson plays Cassandra, aka Madame Web, a paramedic with psychic abilities. Page 14 HAPPENINGS November 23, 2023 www.hap2it.com 'Modern Family' cast reunites for first time since finale The Modern Family cast reunited last week for the first time since the show's finale. Sofia Vergara, Ed O'Neill, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez and other cast members gathered together at Vergara's home. Modern Family had an 11- season run on ABC from 2009 to 2020. The show followed married couple Claire (Bowen) and Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell) and their children, along with their extended family. Burrell was unable to attend the event but was included by his co-stars, who held and displayed a photo of the actor during the reunion. Winter, who played Alex Dunphy, had reflected on her "amazing journey" with the cast in April 2020 ahead of the show's finale. "We are so grateful for the love we've received over the course of this 11 year journey. To know our fans love our family just as much as we do is the most amazing gift," the actress said at the time. The cast discussed the show's legacy at a Television Critics' Association panel the same month, saying they hoped they paved the way for future series. At-home test for chlamydia, gonorrhea approved for sale over-the-counter The first home test for chlamydia and gonorrhea will soon hit the market, following its approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. People will be able to buy the Simple 2 Test over-thecounter at a pharmacy, take a specimen in the comfort of their home and send their sample to a designated laboratory for testing, the FDA said. The test is produced by LetsGetChecked, a global healthcare solutions company focused on managing health from home. The company offers the test on its website for $99, and promises results back in two to five days. It's the first FDA-approved test with at-home sample collection for any sexually transmitted disease other than HIV, the agency said. Until now, people would have to go to a doctor's office to be tested. Chlamydia and gonorrhea are the first and second most common bacterial sexually transmitted diseases in the United States, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The rates of both are steadily increasing, with an estimated 1.6 million cases of chlamydia and more than 700,000 cases of gonorrhea in 2021, the FDA said. Both infections can be easily treated with antibiotics, but if left untreated can lead to serious health complications, including infertility. Mystery dog illness causes respiratory problems, possible death Dog owners and veterinarians are growing increasingly concerned over a highly contagious, possibly fatal respiratory illness spreading in several states. The mystery illness starts as a cough that can last weeks and doesn't respond to normal treatments, like antibiotics. It can then morph into severe pneumonia that can leave a dog struggling to breathe. The American Veterinary Medical Association said the pneumonia can get worse in as little as 24 to 36 hours. "It seems to happen very, very quickly - to go from this cough that just won't go away ... and then all of a sudden they develop this pneumonia," Lindsey Ganzer, veterinarian and CEO at North Springs Veterinary Referral Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, told TODAY.com. The illness was detected in Oregon in August with more than 100 reported cases. Since then, the Oregon Department of Agriculture receive 100 additional reports and is working to find a commonality among the dogs with illnesses. Plumbers bracing for 'Brown Friday' after Thanksgiving A plumbing company is warning U.S. residents about "Brown Friday," the day after Thanksgiving, which is the busiest of the year for plumbers. RotoRooter said Brown Friday marks the busiest day of the year, averaging 50% more calls than the average Friday. Thanksgiving weekend overall averages 21% more calls for service than the average Thursday-Sunday period. The company said the main culprits are clogs in kitchen sinks, toilets and garbage disposals. "Often, the case is that a house already has partially clogged drains that go unnoticed, until holiday guests arrive and overwhelm the system," company spokesman Paul Abrams said on Roto-Rooter's website. "Even more problematic is that virtually every traditional Thanksgiving dish is a drain clogging culprit." Roto-Rooter offered some advice for avoiding Thanksgiving-weekend plumbing catastrophes, including keeping fats and cooking oils away from the sink, wiping grease out of pots and pans with a paper towel before washing them, and not putting potential clog-causing foods such as poultry skins, celery, fruit and potato peels down the garbage disposal. coast to coast Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey - long lost brothers? Maury Povich wants to confirm whether or not Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are half-brothers. During a recent interview with McConaughey, E! News shared a video message from Povich, in which the former "Maury" host told the actor that he "would come out of retirement" to give him and Harrelson a DNA test. "We could do primetime. I'll even get my showtime color back in my hair," Povich said in the video. "Woody's got my number. I'm ready." The retired television personality, known for his signature "you are not the father" phrase, conducted DNA tests on his eponymous talk show "Maury," which aired from 1991 to 2022. McConaughey said in response to the clip, "I don't know if we're going to be calling you to do it on your show, but I like the way you're thinking." Earlier this year, McConaughey revealed on Kelly Ripa's "Let's Talk Off Camera" podcast that he's been questioning whether Harrelson is actually related to him. "In Greece a few years ago, we're sitting around talking about how close we are and our families," McConaughey said. "And my mom is there, and she says, 'Woody, I knew your dad.' Everyone was aware of the ellipses that my mom left after 'knew.'" While McConaughey believes Harrelson would be more inclined to take a DNA test, he himself is less enthusiastic about the idea. "It's a little harder for me because he's asking me to take a chance to go, 'Wait a minute, you're trying to tell me my dad may not be my dad after 53 years of believing that?' McConaughey explained. "I got a little more skin in the game." Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey Julie Bowen, Ed O’Neill, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson were among the group assembled for a recent “Modern Family” reunion party

www.hap2it.com November 23, 2023 HAPPENINGS Page 19 One night a few years back, I found my way home, a little tipsy after an evening in the Belgian town of Bruges. I’d been at my favorite bar in town, the ’t Brugs Beertje, where not only did I get schooled in the many varieties of local beer, but also learned a few things about modern-day Belgian life. I was a bit down on Bruges after a long day of visiting every sight in town. It’s inundated with tourists, especially when a cruise ship is docked (10 miles north in Zeebrugge). It seems nothing here is “untouristy.” The growing affluence in places like Belgium, the Netherlands, and Denmark brings predictability and homogeneity, along with high prices. It took staying out late and enjoying a couple of beers to jolt me back into a positive mindset. A good percentage of the tourists you meet in Bruges are beer pilgrims. For two consecutive nights I shared a table or bar with travelers who’d come here specifically to enjoy the fine local beer. The ’t Brugs Beertje is beloved among beer aficionados for stocking more than 300 Belgian varieties. I grabbed a stool at the bar with an agenda: to check material on Belgian beers for my guidebook. I planned to pick the brain of Daisy, who then ran the place. But I was surrounded by beer experts, all happy to clue me in. Soon I had a chemistry lab of four different brews in front of me – each with its distinct beaker. A critical part of the beer culture here is the glass: Whether wide-mouthed, tall, or fluted, with or without a stem, tulip-shaped or straight, the glass is meant to highlight a particular beer’s qualities. Four brews were lined up in front of me: Brugse Zot (“Bruges Fool”), one of the few beers actually brewed in Bruges, and considered one of Belgium’s best; a kriek, which is made with sour cherries; a raspberry lambic, what you’d order for friends who “don’t like beer”; and a Chimay, brewed by Trappist monks. Chimay was new to me and perhaps the smoothest and most milkshakelike brew I had ever tasted. “But,” I asked, “where is the Westvleteren?” I knew the answer but wanted to hear it anyway: The monk-made Westvleteren 12 wins all the awards and is considered the world’s best by Belgians, but it’s very hard to come by. A membership in the brewery allows you six bottles per year. They just don’t make anywhere near enough to meet the demand. With a Santa Claus-like twinkle in her eye, Daisy grabbed a bulbous glass labeled St. Bernardus and, as she poured, she explained: “This is the closest beer you will find to Westvleteren. One monk left the abbey with the secret, and he brews this. It’s called St. Bernardus.” Sipping it, I thought, “This would make celibacy almost livable.” Sitting at the bar, I was surrounded by talkative Belgians. I mentioned how unpredictable the weather had been, and they explained they have “nice weather 20 times a day.” Loosened up by a few Zots, my Belgian stool mates started talking about their northern neighbors: “The Dutch have the worst beer, Heineken, but sell it all over the world. Belgians make far better beer, and it is barely exported. Those Dutch could sell a fridge to an Eskimo. The first thing the Dutch ask you is about money – how much people make and how much things cost – which is taboo here in Belgium.” As I conversed effortlessly with a bunch of old Belgians in English, it occurred to me that the language barrier had sunk to new lows. This was really a switch. In the past, only young people were fluent enough in English to be able to clue me in on things. Consequently, I would get a young perspective. Now that English has been essentially required in European schools for decades, even retired people likely speak the language. It’s a new age of communication. And while Belgian restaurant prices seem steep, beer lovers on a budget eat cheaply in the pubs. I’d go low end on the food – you can get hearty pub grub for $12 – and go high end on the beer, sampling the best in Europe for $6 a bottle. This allows the poor American tourist to have two great beers and a basic meal for $24. As a beginner in Daisy’s pub, I was extremely steep on the learning curve. But – especially with a St. Bernardus to sip on – it was a fun education at an affordable price. By Rick Steves Bruges brews lift a weary traveler’s spirits travel In Belgium, each type of beer has its own glass – whether wide, tall, or fluted – to show off its distinct qualities.

"They even do a very much better job than me. I feel we're all in a big family, every person together. I have so much joy watching John Wick. It's so stylish. The action was so good. I love it." In an interview with UPI, legendary action director John Woo praises the “John Wick” films, which are heavily influenced by Woo’s brand of artistic gunplay. Woo pioneered "bullet ballet" gun battles in Hong Kong films like “The Killer,” “Hard Boiled”and“Bullet in the Head.” He brought his style to Hollywood films like“Broken Arrow,”and“Mission: Impossible II.” “There wasn’t time to think about anything. I couldn’t feel any of that. Starting at 16, it was normal for me to want to go grab a coffee, but to have 10 cars of paparazzi following [me]. What [fame] really caused me to do was to not want to go outside, not want to go to the movies, to not want to go out to eat. I started just hunkering down in my house.” In an interview with Yahoo Life, actor Taylor Lautner says he didn’t really stop to consider the toll that being in the spotlight might be taking on his mental health. After growing up starring in films like “Cheaper by the Dozen 2” and “The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl,” he became a household name with his role as the werewolf Jacob in the “Twilight” film franchise. "We know dogs have accidents, and our particular dogs were having a lot. And I just couldn't deal with that anymore. So, I created a healthy boundary for myself and I said, 'I can't do this. I can't live and sleep in this kind of condition.' I drew that boundary for myself and moved to another room and things just progressed from there.” Which actor recently said sharing the bed with the family’s large brood of pets; which included several dogs and a pig; was a major factor leading to the break-up of their long marriage? November 23, 2023 through November 29, 2023 ARIES (March 21-April 19): Tasks can be completed with good taste if you are willing to trust that things will work out. It may be wise to avoid impulse purchases right now because you may be more impressed by the marketing than with the item itself. TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Your casual tolerance or objectivity might be mistaken for an agreement. Communication mix-ups on the home front might result in a frantic phone call to change established plans around or to move a scheduled pickup time. GEMINI (May 21-June 20): You may need to take someone’s criticism into account and look for ways to do better in future situations. Having friends who agree with your opinions might not be helpful if you forget to pay bills or ignore a speed limit. CANCER (June 21-July 22): You could earn someone’s respect or friendship by being sensible as well as sensitive. You can be the voice of reason in an unreasonable world. Some people may not have the incentive to live up to same standards. LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): Someone may place their problems on your doorstep. Do your best to avoid jumping to a friend’s defense until you have all the facts and a complete understanding of the situation. Misleading claims could get you in over your head. VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): You may find yourself in close quarters with people who may not believe in a redemption arc or helping correct another person's mistakes. A chill could develop between you and a loved one, but it can be warmed by your loyalty. LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): It may be best to remain reasonable or stoic in the face of unavoidable change or occasional misunderstandings. You could be more clearheaded than others so you might need to give them a gentle nudge in the right direction. SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): If you choose to insert yourself into a family dispute, be prepared to accept the consequences. Getting involved with certain issues could make matters worse later. Keep your cash in your pocket for now and avoid adding to your debt. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Your friendliness could be obvious. You may believe you know a lot and want to share it with others. Some people might not be in the mood to hear your advice or opinions if they perceive it as subtle criticism. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): ou may need to keep your nose to the grindstone right now. You could be challenged to meet your deadlines or face some unreasonable criticism. Keep opinions to yourself to avoid stirring up a controversy. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Avoid overestimating your own abilities. If you make a promise, be sure you can follow through on it. Remain skeptical of payment offers or rebates that could persuade you to spend more than planned. PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Take gossip with an extra grain of salt. You may need to remain on your best behavior right now because you cannot afford to offend others. You could be preoccupied by some family issues or problems within your home.
