It has ahuge following and I have a veryhuge following from Chucky, which is also the same fan baseas School Spirits. So, I was justso pleased to be able to give thema sort of little 'valentine' byappearing on this show that theylove so much,\" Tilly, 67, said in arecent Zoom interview\"Also, I love the writing. I lovethis show. I just think it's sobeautifully shot. It's veryhaunting and melancholy, especially Season 3. The music isfantastic and all the actors are sogreat.\"The supernatural series, whichrecently wrapped up its thirdseason on Paramount+, followsthe ghosts of people who died onthe Split River High campus overthe years, as well as Maddie(Peyton List) and Simon(Kristian Ventura), twoempathetic, living students whohave the power to communicatewith them.\"When they asked me to be onthe show, I was ecstatic because Ilove the show and I got the script, and I was looking at Dr. HunterPrice, and I thought, 'There'ssomething slightly sinister aboutthis woman,'\" Tilly said.\"It seemed like she had anagenda, not that she just wantedto shut down the school, but thatshe REALLY wanted to shutdown the school and, as theepisodes progressed, you'll seethat she is more than a little eviland she's working with darkforces to do things for herpersonal gain.\"Hunter-Price is also unkind toher teenage daughter Livia(Erika Swayze), a student at herschool, who, in turn, terrorizesless popular kids.\"As you can see in Episode 1,she's not a very good mother, sothere's lots to dislike about Dr.Hunter-Price,\" Tilly said. \"I thinkpeople will be very surprised atthe trajectory of her character --to put it mildly.\"Desperate Housewives and90210 alum Josh Zuckerman,40, plays Mr. Martin, a deadteacher who doesn't know whatwill happen to him and hisghostly family if Dr. HunterPrice gets her wish to knockdown the building they cannotleave.Season 3 opened with Mr. Martinsuffering in isolation because theothers suspected he hurt one ofthem to save himself.\"He's just trying to get through itand probably figure a way out ornot lose his mind inside the scar, which is essentially just anightmarish room,\" Zuckermansaid.\"It's very tortuous for him to behaunted by all of his decisionsand, specifically, what happenedto Janet (Jess Gabor) andhimself in the chemistry fire.\"It is eventually the living Simonwho convinces the ghosts to giveMr. Martin another chancebecause he believes no oneshould be defined by theirmistakes.\"Mr. Martin doesn't have muchof a relationship with Simon.Certainly, in the first twoseasons, he's aware of him asMaddie's friend and then learnsthat Maddie can communicatewith them,\" Zuckerman said.\"But, beyond that, Simon's aliveand Mr. Martin has passed away,so they don't interact, and nowthey're put in a position wherethey can interact and Mr. Martin,in a way, has to earn his trust andprobably hopes that Simon'sfeelings about Mr. Martin aren'tgoing to be influenced by all theother students.\"Tilly said she is impressed byhow the School Spiritsmythology and characterdevelopment have continued tobe unexpected and emotionallyrewarding.\"Whenever you're reading ascript, you're thinking, 'Where isthis going?' Then, you get thescript for the next episode, andyou're like, 'In a million years, Idid not think it was going to gothere,'\" she said.\"But the writers really knowwhat they're doing and they plantlittle seeds and, so, you'll have anidea of what's going on with yourcharacter and then you're reallyastonished at how the characterblossoms and the things thattranspire in later episodes.\"Zuckerman said fans tell him themain reasons the show resonateswith them is that the charactersare flawed but lovable and theylook out for one another.\"They're really trying to findanswers, not just about what'shappening in the school, but tofind answers about, 'What is themeaning of life, even though I'vepassed away?'\" Zuckerman said.\"It's pretty touching,\" he added.\"They're relying on each other togrow and navigate this scaryunknown of the afterlife and the'life life.'\"Tilly said: \"It's very heartwarming to me to see how they'reall there for each other, especially since some of themdon't have great parental figures.\"When I was watching, I waslike, 'Wow, I wish I had a friendgroup like that!'\" she said.By Karen ButlerJennifer Ellen ChanSeptember 16, 1958 (age 67)Los Angeles, CaliforniaHer parents divorced when she was fiveyears old, leading her to use her mother’smaiden name professionally.During her high school years, shedeveloped an interest in theater.Following a succession of small parts infilm and on television throughout the1980s, Tilly made her film breakthroughwith a supporting role in Bullets OverBroadway (1994), for which she wasnominated for the Academy Award forBest Supporting Actress. She subsequently earned acclaim for herportrayal of Violet, a lesbian femme fatale,in Bound (1996).Tilly rose to widespread recognition whenshe played Tiffany in Bride ofChucky (1998), reprising the character inseveral more installments of the Child'sPlay film series as well as the Syfy/USAshow Chucky (2021–2024). Page 8 HAPPENINGS March 12, 2026 www.hap2it.comNestled on the Rhine across theborder from Germany, Strasbourgoffers your best chance toexperience the urban side ofFrance's Alsace region. Each timeI walk its people-friendly streets,I'm struck by how progressive andlivable the city feels, withgenerous space devoted topedestrians and bikes, sleek trams, and meandering waterways. Withdelightful big-city energy and aname that means “city of streets,”Strasbourg is the ultimatecrossroads. While the city dodged seriousdamage in both world wars,Strasbourg has a dizzying history. It was hit hard during the FrancoPrussian War, becoming part ofGermany in 1870. After that, therewas a period of harshGermanization, followed byextreme Frenchification afterWorld War I, a brutal period underNazi rule during World War II, andthen the strong need to purge allthings German after 1945. Now,while probably more definitivelyFrench than it’s ever been, the cityexudes a bicultural gentleness:Street signs are commonlybilingual – in the Alsatian dialectas well as French – and you’ll findunique blends of FrancoGermanic culture, architecture, and ambience all over. After World War II, WinstonChurchill called for a union ofEuropean nations, with the goal ofwinning an enduring peace byweaving the economies of Franceand Germany together. Given thatStrasbourg had changed handsbetween Germany and France somany times, it seemed logical thatit be a capital of what wouldeventually become the EuropeanUnion. Most visitors come to Strasbourgto see its massive Notre-Damecathedral – and for good reason. The delicate Gothic style of thecathedral (begun in 1176, notfinished until 1439) is the work ofa succession of about 50 masterbuilders. The cathedral somehowsurvived numerous wars. Whentoday’s travelers see its vastedifice, their jaws drop. Imaginethe impact it had on medievalpilgrims. An earlier church burned down inthe 12th century, and Strasbourgwas so wealthy that it rebuilt trèsfancy – with a lacy, innovativedesign – and tall (at 466 feet, itsspire was the world’s tallest untilthe mid-1800s). Inside, visitors can enjoymarvelous stained glass – 80percent is original, surviving fromthe 12th to 15th centuries. Thecathedral’s windows traveled a lotduring World War II: hidden bythe French in southwestern Francefirst; then carted to northernGermany by the Nazis; and finallysaved and returned by theMonuments Men.Nearby is the wonderfulStrasbourg Historical Museum, which sweeps through the city’scomplex and compelling history. Here, you'll learn how Strasbourgwas once fortified with concentricwalls and 80 towers, which werethen destroyed by French KingLouis XIV in the 1680s. Themuseum also has an exhibit aboutJohannes Gutenberg; a sectionabout the French Revolution; anda description of how the Prussiansrebuilt the city after destroyingparts of it in 1870, ushering in itsglory days (1880-1914). While a handful of institutions arehoused here, the most important isthe European Parliament – whereelected representatives from all 27EU countries gather regularly in avast semicircular room called theHemicycle. The complex is free tovisit, and if Parliament is insession, it’s a great way to watchEuropean democracy in action.End your day in Strasbourg’spopular Petite France quarter. It'shere where the river splits intoseveral canals with weirs, a lock, and a swing bridge – all remindersof a time when trade came by riverand watermills powered localindustry. The district was onceslated for redevelopment, but wassaved by a progressive Frenchminister of culture in the 1970s.Today, these fine half-timberedbuildings are protected and giveus a sense of this pre-electricityworld.The history of Strasbourg – thecapital city of the political pawnzone between France andGermany – is fascinating tocontemplate. With its highpowered and trendy bustle andhybrid culture, it's one of France'smost intriguing cities.By Rick StevesStrasbourg's Petite France quarter was once slated for redevelopment – but was saved by aprogressive French minister of culture in the 1970s, much to the delight of locals and tourists alike.City ofbiculturalstreetstravel Travelers are experiencing longlines at airport and land crossingTSA checkpoints as a partialgovernment shutdown begins totake its toll right at Spring Break. The Department of HomelandSecurity, which includes theTransportation SecurityAdministration, is shut downbecause Congress couldn't agreeon a funding package for thedepartment. Democrats don't wantto fund it until some guardrails areput on the agency, andRepublicans haven't agreed toDemocrats' demands. As a result, TSA workers got apartial paycheck on Feb. 28 andwill miss their first full check onMarch 14. Some workers havetaken time off while not gettingpaid, which slows down the TSAlines at major airports. On Feb. 21, DHS announced itwould suspend TSA Precheck, theservice that allows low-risktravelers to speed through thecheckpoint, but reversed courseafter an outcry. Global entry, which allows American citizens tomove through customs quickly, isclosed. Some airports, like Houston'sWilliam P. They'reindustrially engineered productsdesigned to keep you coming backusing strategies once designed tosell cigarettes. The study draws upon addictionscience, nutrition research and thehistory of tobacco regulation. The study authors found strikingsimilarities betweenultraprocessed foods and tobaccoproducts, both deliberatelyformulated to amplify reward inthe brain, encourage habitual use,and shape public perception inways that protect profits. But the study authors said the maintakeaway isn't that eating is thesame as smoking. Rather than retelling the traditionalmonster story, the film blends historicalreflection, fantasy, and genre elements toexplore autonomy, gender inequality, and thetreatment of outsiders. The film draws heavily on Shelley’s legacy andthe feminist ideas connected to her life andfamily—particularly those of her mother, MaryWollstonecraft. Gyllenhaal frames the narrativearound the idea that women have historicallybeen silenced or forced to disguise themselves inmale-dominated spaces. The film portrays violence less as villainy andmore as the tragic byproduct of being treated asmonstrous by society. The story echoes thecultural archetype of doomed outlaw lovers(Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale) —comparable to the dynamic of Bonnie and Clyde—while exploring how society provokes andthen condemns those who are different.Stylistically, Gyllenhaal embraces abstractionand surreal touches. Musical and dancesequences appear without explanation, suggesting that emotional expression andcinematic spectacle are more important thanstrict narrative logic. The film also referencesclassic Frankenstein films, even Mel Brooks’Young Frankenstein, while reshaping themythology through a modern feminist lens. The film’s ambition is a bold blend of horror, romance, and social commentary. However, theabundance of ideas sometimes leaves the filmfeeling crowded. Certain themes and storythreads are introduced but not explored as fullyas they might deserve.Overall, The Bride! is an audacious andpolitically charged reinterpretation of theFrankenstein mythos. Even when its structurefeels uneven, Gyllenhaal’s vision stands out forits willingness to mix genre spectacle with apointed critique of how society treats womenand outsiders. In 2026, hesays young fans stilldiscover his 1990 hitbecause they see him in theNinja Turtles film. When theTurtles fight other monsters in a dance club, Vanilla Ice freestyles NinjaRap on the stage. In a recent interview, Vanilla Ice, real name Rob VanWinkle, 58, said Ninja Rap outlasted Ice Ice Baby. \"They're like, 'Well,I started off with the Ninja Turtles and then I heard he did other songs,'\"he said. He did indeed do other songs and released six albums. Now, VanWinkle discovers YouTube videos of young fans listening to his 1990 hit.\"They do these reaction videos where they're listening to it for the firsttime on YouTube,\" he said. \"They're already in their 30s and never heard'Ice Ice Baby.'\" Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II suggests that Ice canmake up a rap about human-sized, fighting turtles on the spot. Buckley filmedThe Bride! first and said herHamnet character came out ofher work on this movie. At a recent virtual pressconference, Buckley, 36,explained how the differentroles connected. The Bride(Buckley) was resurrected tojoin Frankenstein (ChristianBale), and Hamnet's Agnes wasShakespeare's wife grievingtheir child's death.\"The woman that you discoverat the beginning of Hamnet isthe woman that I birthed inmyself in Bride,\" Buckley said.\"I think in some ways whenAgnes is able to let Will go, it'sbecause she has a substantiallove and I think the love that Iexperienced and explored inThe Bride!.\"Buckley described her Bride!character, Ida, as \"a woman whohas a language unto her own, isdeeply embodied, is ready tolove wildly and on their ownterms, like really love.\"Ida does die and come back tolife. It mademe very curious about what shemight be thinking or feeling.\"In the 1935 film, ElsaLancaster played Shelley in aprologue and the Bride in thefilm. Buckley was inspired byLancaster.Gyllenhaal realized that givingwomen a voice was not limitedto the Bride of Frankenstein inthe history of cinema.\"Come to think of it actually, Ithink all sorts of women inmovies made a long time ago,we don't get a chance to getreally inside of what was shethinking?\" Gyllenhaal said.\"She finds herself in such aninsane situation, having beenbrought back from the deadwithout her consent to be thewife of someone that she's nevermet.\"Buckley said Ida had her owncuriosity about Frankensteinthat made her stay with him.Their interactions exploredmore than romantic love andmonogamy for Buckley. The bond between two so-calledmonsters was also important toGyllenhaal.\"There sometimes feels likemonstrous aspects inside ofeach and every one of us, thingsthat we are told are notallowed,\" Gyllenhaal said. \"Thismovie is a celebration of all ofthe parts of all of us that will notfit into the box that we've beentold we need to fit into.\"Buckley felt the Shelley of TheBride! realized what made heroriginal creature monstrous andattempted to correct it with Ida.\"What makes this monstermonstrous is loneliness,\"Buckley said. \"She's like, 'I needto give it love. I need love. Iwasn't brave enough. I was tooscared to love the last time.'\"Buckley cherished the monsterthat allowed her to release thegrieving mother in Hamnet later.\"What a gift to know both ofthese women inside me,\"Buckley said. \"I'm never goingto let them go.\"By Fred TopelJessie Buckley: Five roles beyondHamnet & The BrideJessie Buckley and Christian Bale star in the new film The Bride!Jessie Buckley's performance inHamnet has so far earned her accoladesat the Golden Globes, Critics Choice,BAFTAs and Actor Awards. www.hap2it.com March 12, 2026 HAPPENINGS Page 25Sports metaphors in politics havebecome a strange newqualification for public office.Apparently, if you’ve played, coached, or even interviewedsomeone holding a ball, you’reready to legislate.Chicago’s brutally cold winter, Ihave managed to indulge my loveof sports by hitting the gymregularly, taking a few golf swingsin one of those indoor simulatorthings, and continuing my passionfor pickleball. It is the latter that fuels my desireto become a high-ranking electedofficial. Retiring Illinois SenatorDick Durbin’s seat looksparticularly inviting. As an avid pickleball player, andone familiar with the sport’sterminology, I plan to PICKLE myopponents in the primaries. Onceelected, I will RALLY this countryaway from the SOFT DINKreputation we have today. I willend corruption faster than theTHIRD SHOT DROP I havemastered. You see, it appears a connectionto, or even a passing interest in,athletics qualifies someone to runfor political office. The latestexample? Retired NBC SundayNight football reporter MicheleTafoya, who recently announcedher intention to seek the soon-tobe-vacated U.S. Senate seat inMinnesota. How About Swinging for aSmaller Fence? Not a local school board official, water reclamation districtrepresentative or some other entrylevel elected position wherepoliticians typically begin theirrise to national prominence. No,Tafoya believes her experienceinterviewing sweaty professionalfootball players is all it takes toleap directly to the U.S. Capitolchamber. She explained hercredentials via her campaignannouncement, posted on socialmedia.“For years I covered the biggestfootball games in America,”Tafoya says offscreen as voters seepictures of her smiling whilequestioning football luminariessuch as Peyton Manning, TomBrady and Aaron Rodgers. If you still need MOREconvincing, Tafoya isn’t finished.“I walked the sidelines when thepressure was mounting and thestakes were the highest,” she said.Pardon my ignorance. I don’twatch a lot of football, but I can’trecall NBC announcers MikeTirico or Chris Collingsworth eversaying, “It’s fourth and one withtime running out. Wonder if wewill soon see Tafoya? She looksconfident and ready to handle thepressure in her fur-lined coat.”“That job taught me about morethan football,” Tafoya continued, while strolling on a snow-coveredfootball field. “It taught me abouthow leadership really works. When leaders are prepared andaccountable, teams succeed. Whenthey aren’t, people pay the price.”From there Tafoya ticked off, without specifics, her plans tofight corruption, end fraud andprotect Minnesotans’ tax dollars.Leadership LessonsLearned WhileInterviewing Sweaty DudesMaybe I missed something 40years ago as a college intern at aChicago radio station. Myresponsibilities includedinterviewing professional baseballplayers following games. Theseplayers were often naked. I didn’tlearn anything about leadershipand accountability but I did learnthe following:1. With a few exceptions, professional baseball players can’tstring together two coherentsentences.2. Baseball players have foulmouths. Their managers’ mouthsare worse.3. When interviewing a nakedbaseball player, never look down. Somehow, I don’t think those“lessons” would translate intovotes but who knows? Tafoyaseems to think so, and she’s notthe only one who peppers herpolitical aspirations with sportsanalogies. Former Auburn footballcoach turned U.S. Senator TommyTuberville (R-AL) is now runningto become that state’s nextgovernor. Why? Because, in anappearance on Fox News eightmonths ago, Tuberville remindedvoters that “I’m a football coach,I’m a leader, I’m a builder, I’m arecruiter. And we’re gonna growAlabama.”Tuberville probably hopes the“clock has run down” on voterswho remember that, shortly afterbecoming senator, he couldn’tcorrectly name the U.S.government’s three branches.Former NFL kicker Jay Feely’swebsite states he is ready to “kickWashington into shape” as hemounts a bid for an Arizonacongressional seat. His campaignslogan is “tough on the field, tougher in Washington.”Yes, kicking looks difficult.Kickers must contend withswirling winds, hostile fans andpoor snaps. But has a kicker ever“doinked” one off the uprightsbecause he wasn’t tough enough?Feely probably thinks so. So if that’s what it takes to fillDurbin’s seat, then I’ll insertsports metaphors, specificallypickleball-related ones, into all mycampaign ads and fundraisingliterature. Please get out of the KITCHENand join me!greg schwemSince 2010 Greg Schwem has written the nationallysyndicated Humor Hotel column forTribune Content Agency. Page 26 HAPPENINGS March 12, 2026 www.hap2it.comLate last month, the averagefor 30-year fixed mortgage ratesdropped below 6 percent for thefirst time in three and a halfyears. Freddie Mac reported thatas of February 26, the 30-yearrate was 5.98%, down from6.76% a year ago, and significantly lower than the recent peakof 7.8% in October 2023.Lower rates should help borrowers, but importantly, they mayalso encourage sellers to list theirhomes and move. As of the endof Q3 (the most current dataavailable), the percentage of outstanding home loans under 4% is51.5%, so even a 6% loan makesit difficult for homeowners to selltheir homes and buy a new homesince their monthly paymentswould increase sharply. This socalled “lock-in effect” has kept alid on inventory. If you suspended your househunting back when rates wereabove 7%, don’t get too excitedabout your prospects now.Housing affordability hasimproved, but only slightly. The Federal Reserve Bank ofAtlanta’s Home OwnershipAffordability Monitor (HOAM)provides a monthly measure ofthe median-income household’scapacity to afford the medianpriced home. The tracker takesinto consideration the monthlyprincipal and interest cost, giventhe current mortgage interestrates, as well as the costs associated with taxes, property insurance, and private mortgage insurance to determine the totalmonthly cost of carrying thehouse.HOAM uses the U.S.Department of Housing andUrban Development (HUD) standard 30% share of income threshold to measure affordability. Ifthe annual cost is below a 30%share of income, homeownershipis considered affordable, and if itis above, homeownership is considered unaffordable. Here’s why the housing marketwas so compelling amid COVID,compared with today:December 2020Median household income = $68,585Median home price = $286,800Mortgage interest rate = 2.7%Total monthly cost = $1,596Affordability = 28%December 2025Median household income = $85,331Median home price = $398,667Mortgage interest rate = 6.2%Total monthly cost = $2,999Affordability = 42%If you are able to afford ahome because your income canabsorb all of the costs, youshould run the numbers. Considerjob security and always ask yourself if you were to buy, could youcontinue funding other goals likeretirement or education funding. It’s fine to ease off the accelerator on funding those for a fewyears, but if buying a home blowsup your longer-term plans, youmay be overextending.I always like to remind folksthat owning a home is not theonly way to accumulate wealth.Renters should remember thatmoney that they would havespent on a downpayment, mortgage, taxes, insurance, and ongoing maintenance is available tosave and invest for the future.Refinancing refresherIf you have a mortgage rate inthe 7% range, you have probablybeen monitoring every tick of themortgage market, so breakingbelow the 6% level is tantalizing.Because every refinance hascosts, you need to run the numbers.Fannie Mae has a good calculator, but the basic idea is todetermine the total closing costsof refinancing a loan and thendivide that amount by the monthly savings that the refi will meanfor you. The result will tell youhow many months it will take tobreak even on a refi. For example, if closing coststotal $5,000 and a refi will saveyou $200 per month, then youneed to stay in the loan for 25months in order to break even onthe refinancing. Saleswere 4.4% lower than January2025. The median sales price ofexisting homes was $396,800 forall housing types, nearly a 1%increase over a year ago.\"The decrease in sales is disappointing,\" Lawrence Yun, chiefeconomist for the National RealtorsAssociation, said in a statement.\"Affordability conditions areimproving, with NAR's HousingAffordability Index showing thathousing is the most affordable it'sbeen since March 2022. This is dueto wage gains outpacing homeprice growth and mortgage ratesbeing lower than a year ago.\"The average 30-year fixed-ratemortgage was 6.10%, edging downfrom 6.19% in December, FreddieMac reports. In January 2025 it was6.96%.Yun added that there was a lowsupply of existing homes, drivingmedian prices to a new high for themonth of January. Weather and\"above-normal precipitation\" werealso cited as reasons for a slowmonth. There were 1.22 million units ofall types for sale, a nearly 1%decline over December. The inventory of unsold homes would take anestimated 3.7 months to sell, slightly higher than the unsold supply inDecember, based on the pace ofsales and no new homes beingadded.Housing affordability increasedthe most in the Western UnitedStates, with the HousingAffordability Index increasing17.1%. www.hap2it.com March 12, 2026 HAPPENINGS Page 31Tell the truth. Are there days inthe winter when your heatingsystem can’t provide the heat youneed to keep you comfortable? What about your AC system? Arethere blistering hot summer dayswhen you feel like a simmeringsausage in a skillet? You may not want to hear this, but it’s normal for this to happen.Your heating and cooling contractor may not have told you thetruth, so I’ll be his proxy.Several weeks ago, I was onthe phone with a man who livesin the Midwest. He purchasedone of my short consultation telephone calls. He wanted to knowwhy his condominium was coldand drafty when it was belowzero Fahrenheit. He mentioned a cold draft ofmoving air in his kitchen. It turnsout he’s got three very large windows in the room. I explainedthat the moving air was a convection current where the room airwas hitting the cold inner pane ofglass. This chilled air then felldown to the floor, much likewater flowing over a waterfall. He wasn’t feeling the outsideair infiltrating through the windows. Stand in this pathway, andit will feel like a breeze. The coldair pushes warmer room air backup to the top of the windows. Tryto picture a sideways, invisiblemerry-go-round in your home.I shared with this man thatheating and cooling design in residential homes is by far the mostcomplex aspect of home building. A true professional HVACcontractor will enter all sorts ofdata about the wall insulationthickness, window sizes, compass direction of the house walls, door sizes, total exterior wall surface area, attic insulation thickness and so forth into a computerprogram. The software will thenspit out heat loss and heat gainresults in BTUs per hour. Thisshould be done on a room-byroom basis. The contractor has to tell thesoftware where the house islocated and what the desired interior temperatures should be. Thisis because two identical houses indifferent cities can require verydifferent furnaces and AC units.A house in northern Minnesotarequires much more heat per houron a given day than the exactsame house in Alabama.I know what you might bethinking. You’ll just tell yourcontractor to oversize the furnaceand AC unit so you’re alwayscomfortable. It’s a mistake to dothis because the equipmentwould short-cycle. In the winter, the blast of hot air coming out ofyour supply ducts would fool thethermostat, telling it that theroom is warm enough when, infact, there is still cold air in theroom. An AC system that shortcycles doesn’t run long enough toremove enough humidity fromthe air. You then end up with ahouse that’s cold and clammy. My advice to the homeownerwas simple. The easiest thing todo is to wear more clothes on thecoldest days. I do that in my ownhome. I often wear long underwear, a knit hat, and a hoodiesweatshirt that keeps my neckwarm. While it may seem odd, Ican tell you I’m toasty warm onthose bitter winter days.I then shared that he could purchase affordable portable oilfilled electric radiators. Thesewould create additional heat tooffset the heat loss in the coldrooms he’s occupying. If you're remodeling or evenbuilding a new home, you mightwant to consider adding radiantheat mats under bathroom flooring. This heat will not only helpmake the room nice and warm, but your bare feet will touch asoothing, warm surface instead ofyou doing a dance trying to getonto a throw rug as you step outof the shower. The ductwork that supplies theheated and cooled air must alsobe designed and installed withgreat care. Each room must haveenough heat and cooling to offsetthe heat loss and heat gain forthat room. The rooms farthest from thefurnace must have air flowingfrom the supply duct as stronglyas the room closest to the furnace. This is achieved by maintaining the same static pressure inthe duct system along its entirelength.Don’t assume everything willbe done correctly when youbuild. I urge you to have a conversation with your builder andinclude the HVAC contractor ifpossible. Discuss everything I’veshared above and see if you getany pushback from the builder orHVAC contractor. It’s very difficult to remedyductwork that’s not sized correctly once a house is built. You getone chance to get it right. This iswhy the Ask the Builder motto is“Do it Right, Not Over!”Subscribe to Tim’s FREEnewsletter atAsktheBuilder.com. Till next week031226March 12 , 2026through March 18 , 2026ARIES (March 21-April 19): Two more days of underwater day scores, Tuesday and after pop into sunlight. Postpone anything important until then for significantly better odds of a happy outcome. Do not make financial decisions today.TAURUS (April 20-May 20): A recent upheaval in a friendship may begin to simmer down, the friendship could be moving into calmer waters. A partner may need understanding or support, don’t let judgment get in the way.GEMINI (May 21-June 20): When someone shows you who they are, believe them. While below-zero days merit lowered expectations, it’s still a goodness to put your heart into every task, even the small stuff. Just be a little more patient now.CANCER (June 21-July 22): You might be somewhat disenchanted with a mentor, teacher, or guru. If this is due to an ongoing pattern, it’s OK to disengage now. If in doubt wait until Tuesday or after to weigh facts and make the decision.LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): What could be motivating you to make a money move could be wise or could be due to old programs running in your mind. Regardless, don’t change anything or open a financial account until later this month.VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): You could be eager to communicate but might or might not get the answer you want. Better odds of better outcomes are available when Universal day scores are above zero, wait a few more days.LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22):If you can’t muster a team you may need to do it yourself. Fortunately, you’ve done it before and can do it again. You’ve got this but keep expectations low to mid under today’s dark stars.SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Creative self-expression is for you, other opinions aren’t necessary or relevant. Until stars return to daylight on Tuesday, revealing vulnerability could backfire or spin off unexpected consequences.SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): When the stars don’t support action, it can be a great time for self-work or just rest and recovery. The one caveat about going within under poor stars is to revisit your thoughts again when stars improve, they could change.CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Your idea could be excellent and still fall flat today, below-zero days don’t help anything live up to potential. Wait until Tuesday or later for much better odds of appreciation and applause.AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): A financial plan could be great but wait to implement it at least 2 more days. It’s easier to support an effort you believe in — when you do believe it’s easy to go all in. Test assumptions just in case.PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Your wit could sparkle and you could be convincing today. This said, it’s still not the time to pull the trigger on any actions which could be important to you. Tuesday and beyond offer much better odds.ACROSS1 Insect-preserving resin6 Kick in or kick off11 Crunch targets14 Coupe de __: classic Cadillac15 Airport structure16 Shot chaser?17 Excellent rendition of a Belafonte hit?19 Time for the history books20 Oyster bed?21 Shabby22 Novelist Louise who created the fictional police inspector Armand Gamache24 Removed from power26 Bearing27 Help a former first lady feel better?32 Red-hatted figure in Travelocity ads35 Group before millennials36 Catch37 More than fancy38 Push (for)40 In this case41 “Bravo, mi amigo!”42 Squabble43 Always ready to order?44 Gala for the cops?48 Crunch’s rank49 Some UPS Store customers53 Japanese room divider55 As a soloist57 Cut (off)58 Pursue romantically59 Give a cool cat a thorough bath?62 Beseech63 Small crown64 Foot the bill65 “You got it”66 Weapon in a scabbard67 ChucksDOWN1 Dance around2 __ words3 Censor4 Rivendell resident5 Second edition6 Knight mares7 Figure skating great Eldredge8 On the road9 Lightsaber-wielding heroine10 Torrid Zone region11 Italian mountain range12 Waste13 “Don’t leave!”18 Poetic contraction23 Cry from one atop a chair25 “That’s a new one __”26 “The Pink Sash” painter Cassatt28 Split personality?29 Laura Bush’s brother-in-law30 Glasses holders31 Follow32 Mushy bowlful33 French Quarter city, familiarly34 Stays on the range too long38 Sphinx, mostly39 Clocked out40 Piece of academic regalia42 Keyboard pros43 Outranked by45 __ Mahal46 Weather map line47 Peddle50 Church leader51 __ flush52 Catches53 Influence54 Kiddie pool filler55 Many an Emirati56 Tackle box gadget60 Org. whose HQ is home to the unsolved puzzle sculpture Kryptos61 Gru’s long-lost twin brother in “Despicable Me 3”horoscopein the stars
