Page 4 HAPPENINGS February 02, 2023 www.hap2it.com Jennifer Lopez says the engaged couple at the heart of her new action-comedy, Shotgun Wedding, was in trouble even before gun-toting hostage-takers crashed their nuptials. Now available on Prime Video, the movie follows Darcy (Lopez) and groomzilla Tom (Josh Duhamel) as they try to save their loved ones from the pirates threatening to kill them at Tom's dream destination wedding at a private beach resort in the Philippines. Among the guests are Darcy's bickering divorced parents Renata (Sonia Braga) and Robert (Cheech Marin), her ex-fiance Sean (Lenny Kravitz), and Tom's down-to-earth mom Carol (Jennifer Coolidge) and dad Larry (Steve Coulter). "There's so much that happens, but the core of it is these families coming together and Darcy and Tom really figuring out who they are and how they are going to make this marriage work and if they can make this marriage work," Lopez said in a recent virtual press conference, comparing the film's tonal DNA to that of the 1984 classic, Romancing the Stone. "They start off at very different ends of the spectrum on what they want, not just from this wedding, but also from their relationship," she added. "Along the way, with all of the things they have to go through, which is outrageous, and crazy and where it goes is crazy, they really do discover each other and what they want." When the guests are captured, Darcy and Tom are away from the action, arguing about whether they should actually go through with the service. The circumstances lead to the hilarious image of Darcy dressed in Carol's poofy white gown and Tom in a white tuxedo first handcuffed, then fighting bad guys in the jungle, driving a golf cart and flying down a zip-line to drop a grenade. Lopez said her frock, which ends up torn and filthy by the end of the movie, was like a character in and of itself. "It also really represented what she was going through," she explained. "I wanted it to start off where she was super-uncomfortable. It was the biggest, most cumbersome, kind-of-beautiful, but also not her at all," Lopez added. "Then, as she went on and was more honest with Tom about who she was and what she wanted, she started kind of peeling back the layers and becoming more herself and kind of stepping into her own power, more of her own authenticity. And I think that happened with the dress, as well.'" Given the comic chops of the cast, there were many moments when the stars unintentionally cracked each other up, especially when they were trying to be serious. "We had this very emotional scene where I was like, 'All of our family could die!' and Josh said, 'Your hair looks square like Marge Simpson,'" Lopez recalled, dissolving into giggles. Lopez insisted that, unlike Darcy's father Robert, her dad David would never go behind her back and invite her ex to her wedding, even if it was the seemingly perfect Kravitz. "But we needed that in the movie," she said. Lopez married Ben Affleck in real life after filming Shotgun Wedding. The pair tied the knot in front of their children in Las Vegas last July, then held a more formal wedding in Georgia a month later. Asked what it was like planning the affairs with an Oscar-winning director, Lopez replied: "It's a collaboration. He has an amazing eye. He has incredible taste. "I think that's why we ran off to Vegas and got married there first," she laughed. "It took all the pressure off the big family wedding that we were having, but everything we do, we try to do it together. He planned the whole Vegas thing, the big party, we did together. Planning a wedding is a lot. It's very stressful, as you can see from this movie." By Karen Butler 'Outrageous' adventure tests couple's resolve in 'Shotgun Wedding' Born Jennifer Lynn Lopez July 24, 1969 (age 53) New York City, NY As a young child growing up in the Bronx, Lopez was infatuated with dance after seeing “West Side Story.” At the age of five, she began taking dance lessons and was proficient in flamenco, jazz, and ballet dance by high school. In 1991, Lopez began appearing as a Fly Girl dancer on the FOX sketch comedy series “In Living Color,” where she remained a regular until she decided to purse an acting career in 1993. Lopez landed in the film “Money Train” (1995) and on TV’s “Hotel Malibu” (1994) before scoring her breakthrough leading role in “Selena” (1997). Now a star, Lopez went on to “Anaconda” (1997) and “Out of Sight” (1998) before releasing her debut studio album “On the 6” in 1999. The first single “If You Had My Love” topped the Billboard charts for five straight weeks. Lopez landed her first critical failure when she co-starred with then boyfriend Ben Affleck in the 2003 film “Gigli.” It has since been considered one of the worst films of all time. In the 2010’s, Lopez returned to television with her appearance as a judge on “American Idol” (2011) and starred in the police drama series “Shades of Blue” (2016-18). With massive success in music, television, and film, Lopez is often described as a “triple threat entertainer.” Lopez has had many high-profile romantic relationships which the tabloids loved to cover - including Sean Puffy Combs, Marc Anthony, Alex Rodriguez and, as of 2021, she is back with former boyfriend Ben Affleck, In July 2022, the two were married, her fourth marriage. FYI Jennifer Lopez Jennifer Lopez attends the premiere of "Shotgun Wedding" at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on January 18.

That phrase may never reach pop culture status like, “Get off my lawn,” which curmudgeonly Clint Eastwood famously uttered in “Gran Torino” and, ultimately, became an ode to petulance and turf wars. But, come on, when did these “kids” start playing the sport that was supposed to be reserved for old farts like me? Former “athletes” with knees that now creak, feet that swell and elbows that throb after completing simple tasks? Like getting out of bed. We took up pickleball because it’s the only sport left that, at our age, produces sweat but not a potential 911 call. If we’re too infirm for pickleball, all that’s left is bowling. For a while, we were happy. We knew the one or two pickleball courts in our subdivisions would be empty when we rolled up with our posse of fellow retirees and snowbirds. Meanwhile, the Gen Z crowd jogged by, not even trying to hide their snickers and guffaws as they watched four guys flailing at a wiffleball, occasionally yelling, “KITCHEN” or “THREE TWO ON THE ONE” before launching a serve — an UNDERHAND serve. We didn’t care; we’d found our happy place, and, even better, knew it was created exclusively for us. Sort of like early bird dinner at Denny’s. Or so we thought. Now we fight for court space with those same Gen Zers, the ones who eventually stopped jogging, picked up paddles and decided to give America’s fastest growing sport a try. Oh, and they did more than try. While our medicated ointment was drying on our aching muscles, they were silently taking over. On a recent Friday evening at a suburban Chicago tennis club, it was hard to find any actual tennis players. Instead, more than 80 people, me included, converged for open play on tennis courts that had hastily been converted into pickleball courts via brightly colored tape that doubled as boundary lines. As I waited for a court to open, I scanned the area and estimated at least half the players were younger than 35. The figure was probably higher; my deteriorating eyesight made it difficult to make out shapes on the outer courts. What’s worse is that, in between drop spins and stacks (OK, I’ll stop with the terminology), they were discussing post-pickleball plans. Some talked of going out for drinks. Or dinner. At 9 p.m.! After pickleball, the only thing I go out for is Advil. Thankfully, in pickleball, younger does not necessarily mean better when it comes to skill. I have found the Gen Z set lacking in patience during an extended rally of cross-court dinks, preferring a smash when the ball is nowhere near at “smash level.” Gen Zers, if that sentence befuddles but also intrigues you, grab a paddle and join the fun. But consider this your warning. “Fun” to grizzled pickleball veterans means you will most likely be on the receiving end of a pickleball hit with full force and aimed directly at your midsection. It’s not that we hate you personally; rather, we are angry that our sport, almost overnight, doubled in popularity because a younger demographic wanted to be part of our playdates. And what are we supposed to do to exact revenge? Crash your MMOGs? (Massively Multiplayer Online Games). We don’t own Xboxes; we buy them for our grandchildren. So, we’ll take out our frustrations on the pickleball court, specifically against you, bro with the backward baseball cap, baggy shorts and “Lollapalooza ’22” Tshirt, who took up pickleball because the courts were walking distance to his favorite karaoke bar. We’ll apologize when the point’s over. Or maybe we won’t. Maybe we’ll do the snickering. Or maybe we’ll high-five our partners as we return to the baseline and get ready for the next point. On second thought, it’s probably not a good idea if we high-five. We might sprain something. Greg Schwem I’m going full ‘Clint Eastwood’ on you, pickleball youngsters Greg Schwem is a husband, father and twenty-year stand-up comedy veteran. He has appeared in concert with the likes of Jay Leno and Celine Dion and has appeared at the Kenosha Comedy Club.
Page 6 HAPPENINGS February 02, 2023 www.hap2it.com Jaime King plays Sherri Papini, who was convicted in 2022 of faking her own kidnapping in 2016 in the Lifetime movie, Sherri Papini: I Kidnapped Myself, premiering Saturday on Lifetime. King said she felt media coverage of Papini's case neglected to examine Papini's mental health issues and abusive past. The film shows Keith Pappini (Matt Hamilton) describing Sherri's anxiety, saying she cried when overwhelmed. "They weren't getting to the truth of it," King said on a recent Zoom panel. "It was just a headline." Papini's husband reported her missing Nov. 2, 2016, after she did not return from jogging in Redding, Calif., leaving their two children at daycare. Papini showed up three weeks later near Interstate 5, about 120 miles away, and accused two Spanish-speaking women of kidnapping her for human trafficking. Papini stuck to her story for years before pleading guilty to mail fraud and making false statements. King said the fact that Papini is a mother should have warranted further analysis. "No one makes that choice for no reason," King said. "You can make fun of mental health issues. You can deny abuse issues, but I'm simply not willing to do that." The Lifetime film shows Sherri living with her ex-boyfriend during her disappearance. The film, however, changes his name to Chris (Josh Collins). During her stay with Chris, Sherri forced him to brand "Exodus 612" onto her back, and shoot hockey pucks at her body to create bruises. The film shows how investigators discover that Sherri had a history of self-harm dating to childhood. Because Papini was convicted, she lost the life rights to her story. King said she felt a responsibility to tell Papini's tale in as fair and objective a way as possible. "If you're a felon, you have no rights to your name and likeness, which is a fine and delicate dance that the studio has to do," King said. King said she worried that people without Papini's best interests at heart had rights to her story, "even though they may or may not have been abusing that person." To transform into Papini, King had extensions sewn into her naturally blonde hair. She said the intensity of the hair compounded the intensity she felt giving the performance. "They were down to my waist," King said. "I would wake up at 6 to 6:30 a.m. crying from the weight of these things." King was a model who began to act in the 2001 films Blow and Pearl Harbor. She has transformed in the comic book movies Sin City and The Spirit and played characters stalked by killers in My Bloody Valentine and Silent Night. Still, King said, playing Papini was so emotional she felt she couldn't escape it. "That sounds dramatic, because at the end of the day, you want to release from the character," King said. "But, you can't because they're literally in your head. So you're immersed in it, and then you surrender to that process." “Sherri Papini: I Kidnapped Myself” is now available to stream on Philo and Hulu, and airs Saturday, Feb. 4th on Lifetime. By Fred Topel Jaime King said the hair extensions she wore in "Sherri Papini: I Kidnapped Myself" were intense. The researchers used a natural language processing algorithm to comb through nearly 91,000 messages sent from patients in the Mayo Clinic electronic medical record, picking out the greeting and closing salutations of each message. The omission of these doctors' titles (or "untitling") is subtle, but these remarks accumulate to create "death by a thousand cuts," study author Lekshmi Santhosh told STAT News. Straight Talk About Uterine Cancer For anyone who has ever used permanent hair dyes or straighteners, the experience typically involves strong, sometimes burning chemicals. A new study reports an association between hair straighteners and a higher risk of uterine cancer, a link that grows stronger the more often the chemicals are applied. Scientists studied more than 33,000 women for nearly 11 years and found that those who used hair straighteners more than four times per year were more than twice as likely to develop uterine cancer compared to those who didn't use the products. Researchers had previously linked the use of permanent hair dye and straighteners to increased breast and ovarian cancer risk. Get Me That, Stat! Hispanic people comprise more than 18% of the U.S. population and are among the groups more likely to develop Alzheimer's disease. (They are 1.5 times more likely than whites.) But Hispanics account for just 2% of participants in Alzheimer's clinical trials. Medical History This week in 1964, the first animal-to-human heart transplant was conducted when James Hardy at the University of Mississippi transplanted the heart of a chimpanzee into the chest of Boyd Rush, 68, in a last-ditch effort to save Rush's life. The newly transplanted heart beat on its own, but it was too small to maintain independent circulation, and Rush died after 90 minutes. Medical Myths If you get a nosebleed, don't tilt your head back or recline to prevent blood from running out of the nose. That can actually be dangerous because it increases the risk of choking and swallowing the blood. Instead, first blow your nose, which might increase the initial flow but also clears the nasal passage. Then stand or sit while bending forward at the waist, pinching the soft part of the nose below the bony portion on both sides for 10 minutes. Most nosebleeds don't require medical attention, but seek care if there are other symptoms like dizziness or headache, if you can't breathe, if the flow continues unabated or you're on blood thinners. Curtain Calls On June 30, 1559, a jousting tournament was held near Place des Vosges in France with King Henry II of France in attendance. The event was intended to celebrate the Peace of CateauCambresis with longtime enemies, the Habsburgs of Austria, and the marriage of Henry's daughter Elisabeth of Valois to King Philip II of Spain. During the match, Henry was wounded in the eye by a flying fragment of splintered lance. Efforts by royal surgeons Ambroise Pare and Andreas Vesalius, both of whom would become renowned in the history of medicine, failed to remove the splinter and they ultimately advised for a "wait-and-see strategy." The king's untreated eye led to his death by sepsis 10 days later. His death played a significant role in the decline of jousting as a sport, particularly in France. Parasites, pesticides, climate change linked to loss of honey bee colonies About 43% of honey bee colonies were lost in the span of one year, according to a new study that considered multiple factors that put a crucial part of the ecosystem at risk. Researchers at Penn State say climate change, parasitic mites and pesticides are among the variables that are leading to the drastic loss of the honey bee population. From April 2019 to April 2020, about 43% of honey bee colonies were lost in the United States alone. About onethird of the U.S. food supply comes from crops pollinated by honey bees, according to the study. The loss of these busy pollinators could reverberate throughout the wildlife community, agriculture and the economy. The research team included experts among several disciplines including statisticians and geographers. They relied on publicly available datasets related to honey bee colonies, agricultural practices and climate history between 2015 and 2021. The U.S. Department of Agriculture reports that the number of honey bee hives in the United States has decreased from 6 million to 2.5 million since the 1940s. Cigarette sales in domestic market fall as tobacco advertising rises U.S. federal data released this week show the total number of cigarettes sold in the domestic market is down roughly 70% from peak levels, though companies are spending more on promotion. The Federal Trade Commission reported tobacco companies sold 190.2 billion cigarettes to wholesalers and retailers in 2021, the last full year for which data are published. Total volume was around 203.7 billion the prior year. While volumes are lower, more smokers seem to be turning to flavored products. The FTC reported that menthol-flavored cigarettes made up about 37% of the market share in 2021, compared with 16% during the early 1960s. Companies also are spending more, with advertising and promotion increasing from $7.84 billion in 2020 to $8.06 billion in 2021, data published show. Mathew L. Meyers, president for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, said much of the data are encouraging. Data from 2021 marks the first time that sales have dropped below 200 billion and the level marks a 70% decline from peak levels of 636.5 billion in 1981. The largest decline in sales, however, came in 1999 after retail prices soared in response to statelevel settlements with big tobacco companies and in 2009, when federal and state taxes on the products increased. Smoking also remains a concern as usage among teens is on the rise. Michigan woman uses $5 free play coupon on lottery ticket, wins $300K It takes money to make money as the old saying goes. But for a Michigan woman, it didn't take much. The unidentified lottery winner spent just $5 for a Pick-Six ticket and was surprised when she saw she was holding a winning ticket worth $300,000. "I purchased the ticket on New Year's Eve using a $5 free play coupon I won playing the second chance games," the woman told Michigan Lottery officials. "I scratched the ticket when I got in my car, and when I saw I'd won $300,000, I couldn't believe it! I looked the ticket over multiple times and scanned it on the Lottery app to confirm the amount. When the $300,000 came up on the screen with confetti, I called my family and friends to tell them the good news!" But the anonymous 41-year-old didn't rush to claim her prize right away. She just recently turned the ticket in. She said she plans to pay bills, take a vacation and save her winnings, presumably in that order. Earlier this month, a Michigan man also got lucky -- twice. He purchased two identical tickets for the Michigan Lottery because he couldn't remember whether or not he'd already purchased one. Turns out, his memory lapse was a good thing, as both tickets were winners. While he says he knew he was in the money when both locations he'd purchased tickets at came up as winning stores, he had another surprise coming. He initially believed the tickets were paying out $55,000 apiece, only to learn each ticket is worth $110,000. The man plans to spend that money on home renovations and his family. coast to coast Many older Americans may be addicted to highly processed foods It may be that as many as 13% of older adults are addicted to highly processed comfort foods. Craving cookies, chips, packaged snacks and soda was seen in adults aged 50 to 80, according to new data from the National Poll on Healthy Aging. Women had higher numbers of addiction to these foods than men, especially those in their 50s and early 60s. Older adults who were overweight or experiencing poor mental health or isolation also had much higher percentages of possible addiction to processed foods. Researchers suggested that doctors should screen for these addictive eating habits, so that patients can get referrals to nutrition counseling or programs that help address addictive eating. The poll surveyed 2,163 older adults in July 2022. Researchers used a set of 13 questions to measure whether, and how often, respondents experienced signs of addiction to sweets, salty snacks, sugary drinks and fast food. These indicators include intense cravings, an inability to cut down on intake and signs of withdrawal. Those surveyed had to report experiencing at least two of 11 symptoms of addiction to meet the criteria, as well significant eating-related distress or life problems multiple times a week. Intense cravings were the most commonly reported addictive symptom found in the survey. About 24% said that at least once a week they had such a strong urge to eat a highly processed food that they couldn't think of anything else. About 19% said that at least two to three times a week they had tried and failed to cut down on, or stop eating, these kinds of foods. Vin Diesel
Page 12 HAPPENINGS February 02, 2023 www.hap2it.com Dublin’s urban thrills While many big cities are notoriously cold and unfriendly, Ireland’s capital is an urban playground where people really consider strangers just “friends who’ve yet to meet.” And Dublin offers the best (and many would say only) urban thrills in the Republic of Ireland. Here are a few of my favorite things to do in Ireland’s capital. Trinity College welcomes visitors with campus tours. With a particularly erudite version of the Emerald Isle’s gift of gab, your guide explains how Ireland’s top university was started in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I to establish a Protestant way of thinking about God. Originally the student body was limited to rich, Protestant males. Now everyone is welcome – even Catholic women. While the 45-minute tour will teach you about the architecture and history of the 42-acre college campus, it’s most enjoyable simply as a chance to hang out with a chatty insider. Don’t leave Trinity without dropping into the library to see the precious Book of Kells. Written on baby calfskin by monks in the ninth century, this enthusiastically decorated copy of the four gospels is arguably the finest piece of art from what is generally called the Dark Ages. Ireland’s national struggle and its great heroes are still within living memory. And the Kilmainham Gaol is a pilgrimage for anyone excited about Irish independence. The British used Kilmainham to house political prisoners. Many of Ireland’s George Washingtons and Nathan Hales – patriots who wished they had more than one life to give to their national cause – were held or executed here. It’s compelling to tour the cells and execution sites hearing tales of terrible colonialism and heroic patriotism alongside Irish school kids who know all the names. Don’t miss the dimly lit hall off the second floor displaying the stirring last letters patriots sent to loved ones hours before facing the firing squad. Ireland’s struggle against British rule involved the entire society – even sports, as you’ll learn at the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) Museum. The GAA was founded in 1884 as an expression of an Irish cultural awakening. While created to foster the development of Gaelic sports – specifically Irish football and hurling (and to discourage English sports such as cricket and rugby) – it was political to the core. The GAA museum, at Croke Park Stadium, offers a high-tech, interactive introduction to Ireland’s favorite games. Relive the greatest moments in hurling and Irish football history. Then give this sport a whirl. Pick up a stick and a ball and actually try a little hurling. My family and I once went to a game at Dublin’s Croke Park with 50,000 Irish football fans. The sport is fast and rugged – like airborne hockey with no injury time-outs. The rules are like soccer, but you can run with the ball as long as you bounce or kick it every three steps. Each fan paid 30 euros (about $40) for a ticket. I was talking to my Irish friend, telling him we went to the Abbey Theater the night before to see a play by Oscar Wilde. He asked me the cost, and I told him 30 euros. He said to his wife, "Imagine paying 30 euros to see a play!" I reminded him that, to a playgoer, spending 30 euros to see this football game would be just as strange. Save time in Dublin for strolling down Grafton Street, the city’s liveliest pedestrian shopping mall. A delightful 10-minute walk past street musicians takes you from Trinity College to St. Stephen’s Green (and makes you wonder why American merchants are so terrified of a car-free street). Walking by a buxom statue of “sweet” Molly Malone (known by locals as “the tart with the cart”), you’ll pass venerable department stores and a shopping emporium which tastefully fills a converted Georgian mansion. For fun, gather a pile of coins and walk the street, putting each human statue-mime into action with a donation. Stop at a café somewhere along the street for coffee with a second-floor view of the action. Except for the beans at breakfast…forget "eating Irish" in Dublin. International cuisine is the local cuisine. I was at a multinational food court and it was confusing: Chinese were cooking Mexican, Poles were running the Old Time American diner, a Spaniard was serving sushi, and Irish were cooking Thai in a wok. Save your craving for pub grub for the small towns. Whether in its pubs, in its ancient past, in its struggle for independence, or in its bustling streets – Dublin is the capital of a nation with a rich history and an irrepressible spirit. By Rick Steves travel Plane crew catches cat that escaped during flight A passenger aboard a United flight from Dallas to San Francisco captured video of a flight attendant asking an important question: "Anybody missing a cat?" The video, posted to TikTok by user @david.hislop, shows the crew member carrying the cat down the aisle of the Boeing 737 after the feline broke free of its carrier. "Anybody missing a cat?" the crew member asks. The flight attendant places the struggling feline on the floor before locating the cat's apparent owner. "We're gonna need you to come and claim that," she says to the person. Many of those who fought for Irish independence were held or executed in Kilmainham Gaol.

Who you know might make a bigger difference to your success than what you know. Someone might work harder or do better just to earn your high esteem in the upcoming week. TAURUS (April 20-May 20):Social get-togethers may revolve a businesslike purpose in the week ahead, so your love life may need to wait. Join forces with others to brainstorm a solution or find creative ways to make things efficient. GEMINI (May 21-June 20): Think before you spend. You might need to stretch dollars further to pay bills in the week to come. Your ability to stay within the budget and handle obligations will improve if you keep long-term goals in mind. CANCER (June 21-July 22): Remain respectful of other people's knowledge and experience. Conflicts may occur if you are too eager to air your opinions or jump into action. Be more thoughtful and there will be no need for a confrontation. LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): Listen to trustworthy advice from someone who has real experience and a deep understanding. You may be able to move forward now but possibly could encounter unexpected obstacles late in the week. VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): You should be able to achieve some near-term goals in the week ahead if you discipline yourself and focus on the important details. You'll be able to produce better results through your own efforts rather than relying on other people. LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): Be kind and friendly, but don't be afraid to set a boundary or say "no" if you can't help out. Some people might expect you to do favors, donate your time, or offer free samples at your own expense in the week ahead. SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Cross the finish line by being practical as well as clever. A loved one or partner might act as a mirror that shows both the flaws and the genius of your ideas. You should be able to handle any possible problems in the upcoming week. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Enjoy, but don't let compliments go to your head. Just because you are having a great time doesn't mean you can take someone for granted. Concentrate on upholding commitments to loved ones this week. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Complicated problems probably have a simple solution. Take advantage of flashes of insight as the week begins. You may be able to experiment or take advantage of interesting business trends in the upcoming week. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Set an excellent example by displaying a "can do" attitude. Discuss family issues today while the facts are clear. In the week ahead, use friendly give-and-take to break down barriers and build team spirit. PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Accept what can't be changed, at least for now. Focus on being sympathetic toward others and honoring their decisions. By the end of the week, you could be able to begin a new project successfully or fulfill your promises. in the stars horoscope SOLUTION

And I've never had an experience where I met somebody and felt an immediate depth of relationship to them. She was a person who didn't really have anything to prove and wouldn't open up to everybody, and she just opened up to me, and we got so close so fast. It's weird in moments like this because it's so bittersweet. I mean, so much great stuff is happening, but it's really -- I'm just, you know, devastated for her family. And for her to not be here celebrating with us, you know?" While appearing on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Academy Award hopeful actor Austin Butler looks back on his “immediate” connection with late singer Lisa Marie Presley. Butler portrays her father, Elvis Presley, in the 2022 film, Elvis, for which he has been nominated for an Oscar. "Every opportunity to be on a television show is like a shopping spree. I get a chance to get some free groceries." While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel’s 20th anniversary special, Snoop Dogg talks about his talent rider — his food, drink, and dressing room requirements — and how it has expanded since his first appearance on the show. He simply asked for wings and fruit punch the first time, but 20 years later, that evolved into specific brands of chips, including honey barbecue Fritos — marked ‘very important.’ "Redd Foxx [was the] most naturally funny. Without even trying, just naturally funny. Everything that came out of his mouth was funny. Foxx actually died on a show I was producing ('90s sitcom) The Royal Family. He had a heart attack on the show. That's how funny he was -- they thought he was joking." While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Eddie Murphy replies after Kimmel asks who he thought was the funniest person he ever met. The Hollywood icon also talked about his new Netflix film “You People” and hanging with Rick James in the 80’s amid a snowstorm. Kimmel then asked, "Are you sure it was snow outside Rick's house?" as the audience and Murphy laughed, given James' own admission that he was on drugs for many years. "Rick never did that around me," Murphy said. "Because I wasn't into it. People that do that, don't do it around people that don't do it. It's not like weed. People that do that all go off into a room." “It not only saved my life, it probably saved some other people's lives… because before I smoked marijuana, I was drinking a lot. And I might have killed a lot of people, too. So I'm just glad that that didn't happen. I'm glad we lived through all of bad times."
