What kind of products do you carry at The Pine Blossom?
We have a wide range of unique products from repurposed
furniture and home decor items to clothing, jewelry, artwork, and lots
of vintage goods too. It's always changing and evolving as we come
up with new ideas.

Tell us about your new location.
It's right around the corner from The Stella Hotel & Ballroom and
Scoops ice Cream Shopee so we're excited about that - Public Craft
Brewing is also one block away. It's a vibrant area that just needs a
good, boutique shop and that's where we come in! The building itself
has a lot of the same charm that our last location - it just needed our
special touches to get it ready to shine. I really feel like people are
going to appreciate it as much, or more than our old place. Kenosha
has been great to us and we feel a strong connection to the
community. We've been through all the ups and downs together
and it's drawn the people closer.

FANTASTIC PIZZA
SINCE 1957!

WITH ROB GRESKOVIAK

VILLA D’CARLO
5140 SIXTH AVE

How did you get involved with the pizza business?
When I was 12 years old. my mother married a man named
Carl Ruffalo who owned a popular pizza place Downtown. I quickly
became involved at Villa D’Carlo, a whole lot of dishwashing at that
age. Sadly, Carl passed in 1984, and my mother, along with the help
of myself and my siblings kept Villa D’Carlo running through the
years. Twelve years ago I purchased the business from my family.

What is your favorite item on the menu?
I have to say pizza. I like cheese, salami, and banana peppers on it.
Our pasta dishes are incredible. We have our Villa Pasta - with
homemade sausage, peppers, and onions, cooked in oil. The in-house
made ravioli is so good, I like the spinach ravioli with butter, garlic,
and parmesan cheese on top.

industry. They are what makes Tavern on 6th what it is!
AND MORE - Kyle Kavalauskas

WITH KYLE KAVALAUSKAS
OF TAVERN ON SIXTH

5712 SIXTH AVE
TAVERNONSIXTH.COM

Tavern on Sixth might be a new venue in
Downtown, but they are no stranger to
Kenosha. The Kavalauskas family has a long
history in our town, going back three
generations to a favorite watering hole on
52nd Street.

Tell us about your family’s history in the
Kenosha tavern business.
Back in 1983 both my grandfather and father saw
an opportunity to get into the industry.
Spanky’s was a regular after work hangout for
them, the owner was looking to get out of the
business and they took a chance. After a 30-plus
year run, my dad presented the idea to me of
carrying on in the business. Not sure that I
quite knew what I was getting into, but I’ve
loved being a part of it all!

You recently celebrated your one year
anniversary, how was your first year?
I think you can always look back and wish you
would have done a few things different, but we
use that to keep improving on what we started.
We can’t be more thankful to the Kenosha
community for all the support we received
in our first year!

How do your golf simulators at the upstairs
‘19th Hole’ work?
Our full-swing golf simulators use incredible ball
tracking technology to produce some of the most
accurate golf simulation available. A combination
of cameras and laser trackers deliver that
accuracy. We currently book our simulators
hourly at $45 per hour.

Q&A WITH ABIGAIL
AT 8TH AVE TAP

How long have you been
bartending at 8th Ave Tap?
About six months.

What do you love about bartending?
I love the regulars and I love who I
work for - Kara - she’s amazing!

What is you favorite cocktail to make?
Cosmopolitan.

Tell us your best bar joke.
A duck walks into a bar, orders a
drink, and says, “Put it on my bill.”

Best advice you ever received
behind the bar?
If I ever need to head-butt someone
aim for the nose. It’s the softest spot
on the face and easy to break.

What do you do for fun when
you’re not working?
Painting and drawing.
