Page 4 HAPPENINGS July 20, 2023 www.hap2it.com General Hospital and Knots Landing legend Donna Mills says the source material she had to mine helped her give a nuanced performance as Lillian Cutler, the wealthy, manipulative matriarch in Lifetime's new limited series, V.C. Andrews' Dawn. The new series airs on the cable network and is available to stream at Lifetime.com or on Frndly, Philo, DirecTV stream, or Hulu with Live TV. The multi-generational drama includes four episodes based on Andrews' best-selling Dawn Cutler gothic novels -- Dawn, Secrets of the Morning, Twilight's Child and Midnight Whispers. Brec Bassinger plays Lillian's granddaughter Dawn Longchamp, who returns to the mysterious Cutler family as a teen after she was allegedly kidnapped as an infant. Jesse Metcalfe plays the man Dawn believes is her father, Ormand Longchamp; Khobe Clarke plays her brother/love interest Jimmy; Joey McIntyre plays her teacher Michael Sutton; and Fran Drescher plays her confidante Agnes Morris. "Lillian is who she is. The wonderful thing, though, was that there is another book [prequel Darkest Hour] and that book is about Lillian and why she is the way she is and so I had that background to draw on," Mills said during a recent virtual press conference. "That was very, very helpful." She added: "The things that happened to her, the things that she experienced in her childhood, in her growing up to be a woman, I felt those were the things that formed her and made her as hard and as brittle and unforgiving as she was. ... She is not a happy person." This mars the first time Mills had a whole book on which to base a performance. "I've played villains before, which I love. That's my favorite," she said. "But, no, generally speaking, you don't have that [resource]. You have whatever is in the script and then whatever you can make up for yourself, that you think may have happened. But very seldom do you get an actual blueprint," she added. "That was a big plus for me." The actress also enjoyed being part of a twisted tale that was filled with secrets and lies. "She was a lot of fun to play. I think she kind of drove the plot because she was responsible for a lot of the things that happened in the story," Mills said. "V.C. Andrews is really a good storyteller. To be an actor with that good a storyteller is Heaven," she added, noting it is a treat for viewers, too. "It engages you. It makes you want to watch and continue to watch and you want to find out what is going to happen to poor Brec." Stargirl alum Bassinger loved being able to play Dawn as a character over the course of several decades. "The story arc that I got to go through was very challenging, but very rewarding," she said. Firefly Lane actor Clarke agreed. "When you usually tell a story as a character, it's over the span of a couple of months or maybe a year, but we started this as 17- year-olds and then ended it with two kids, playing 30-year-olds, so adjusting for that storywise was pretty interesting." Metcalfe, who is known for his roles in Desperate Housewives and John Tucker Must Die, was drawn to the Dawn series because he never got to play a father before. "I really enjoyed playing those emotions and I also enjoyed the fact that the first Dawn installment is a period piece, so I got to use a Brooklyn accent and play a character in the early '60s," Metcalfe said. New Kids on the Block singer McIntyre joins the story as Dawn's music teacher in the 1970s. "To kind of disappear into a role gives you license to have some more fun with it," he said. "These aren't the nicest people in the world, which makes it very interesting and very compelling. There is a lot going on and I enjoyed the process, even if my character isn't the nicest guy." McIntyre accepted the role before reading the script, and recalled feeling a bit uncomfortable as he realized his character has an inappropriate relationship with his student. "Of course, as an actor, you want to do what is right for the story and it's my job to play this guy and go for what he wants and put my Joe to the side," he said. "You try to make a character somehow -- even though where he's coming from isn't great -- you want the audience to kind of get on your side," he added. "There's such suspense. I don't want to give a lot of it away. It was challenging. It wasn't easy. It wasn't like just show up on set and say the lines. There was stuff to roll around in your head." By Karen Butler Donna Mills can now be seen in the limited series, "V.C. Andrews' Dawn." Donna Mills says her 'V.C. Andrews' Dawn' villain is 'not a happy person' Born Donna Jean Miller December 11, 1940 (age 82) Chicago, Illinois Mills began her television career in 1966 with a recurring role on“The Secret Storm,” and in the same year appeared onBroadwayin theWoody Allencomedy“Don't Drink the Water.” In 1967, she made her film debut in“The Incident.” She then starred for three years on the soap opera“Love is a Many Splendored Thing”(1967–70), before starring as Tobie, the girlfriend ofClint Eastwood's character in the 1971 cult thriller“Play Misty for Me.” Mills also played the female lead in the heist filmMurph the Surf(1975), and guested on such 1970s staples as“Hawaii Five-O,” “Gunsmoke,” “The Love Boat,” and“The Six Million Dollar Man.” In 1980, Mills landed the role ofAbby Cunninghamon the primetime soap opera“Knots Landing,” and was a regular on the show until 1989. Page 6 HAPPENINGS July 20, 2023 www.hap2it.com Swiss people are experts at living with nature. Like people who live along the coast have telescopes to watch the ships, Swiss mountain dwellers have telescopes on their back decks to watch the mountain face across the valley – they know their mountains intimately … where the ibex graze, where little avalanches tumble, and where the rock climbers bivouac. Their land, long a mountain fortress, is now a “playground for big boys,” as my friend Fritz once put it. Fritz, a dynamo who ran my favorite little hotel in Interlaken, had recently broken his collarbone when I arrived for one particularly memorable visit. For the first time, I was able to keep up with him. Fritz was the type who’d climb a mountain on his bike just to see the sunset. I’m forever thankful to Fritz (who was roughly my age, but died in 2011) for alpine mountain-biking my son Andy into the ground – and then taking him “flying.” Paragliding was Fritz’s passion, and he ran a tandem paragliding side business called “Flying with Fritz.” He was forever nagging me to “go flying.” Andy still talks about his exhausting and exhilarating day riding and flying with Fritz. As a hotelier, Fritz was tuned into the phenomenon of Indians coming to the Alps in droves. Most, he’d noticed, want to see mountain scenes made famous in Indian movies. Because of tension between Hindus and Muslims, India’s mountainous Kashmir region had become too dangerous for movie production. As a result, many romantic Indian movies are filmed in Swiss mountain wonderlands, where lovers swoon with maximum melodrama. And that’s why, in the Berner Oberland’s Jungfraujoch train station, 11,000 feet above sea level, there’s a restaurant called “Bollywood.” I was with Fritz when a freak hailstorm pulverized Interlaken. It had been really hot. Locals – like squirrels before a storm – sensed it and were nervous. Something big was clearly coming. It got dark. Then bam – it was like a typhoon in the Alps. I parked my bike just in time to take refuge in Fritz’s hotel. Standing on my balcony, Fritz and I watched as car roofs were blanketed in dents and flower gardens hammered into pulp. The road became a river of flowing hail balls, leaves, and flower petals. To people living so close to the sky up here in the Swiss Alps, today’s strange and changing weather is a maddening reality. The next morning Fritz and I went on a hike. We rode the lift to Männlichen, high on the ridge above the valleys just beyond Interlaken, and stepped off and into a visual symphony: Before us towered the mighty Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau – for me, the most breathtaking alpine panorama anywhere. Fritz, who had worked at the mountaintop restaurant at Männlichen as a kid, talked of the changes here over the previous decade. As we walked past a glacial pond, he recalled how there used to be hundreds of frogs singing. Now there were none. We studied a new ski lift then being built. Before, constructing a new lift just meant building a few towers. Nowadays, a swath is cut right up the mountain as each lift is plumbed with snow-making gear. The big water pipes that stuck out of the concrete foundations seemed to trumpet a new age. Fritz lamented that Swiss ski resorts could no longer make do without man-made snow. While travelers flock to Switzerland to ride the lifts, walk the dizzying ridges, and hungrily dip their bread into pots of bubbling cheese, it seems to me that it’s the Swiss themselves who get the most joy out of their mountains. They know the story behind every peak, the flower behind every rock, the natural treasure that is their breathtaking land … and are finely attuned to climate change, the slow-moving tragedy that threatens their alpine paradise. By Rick Steves To Interlaken and beyond: A Swiss Alps paradise travel The old Swiss resort town of Interlaken is the gateway to the Berner Oberland, with its soaring alpine peaks (from left), the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Air travel has made a significant resurgence in the past year, including smashing pre-pandemic passenger records leading up to the Fourth of July holiday. However, as the number of air travel passengers climbs, the skies have become increasingly turbulent. The increase in turbulence has led to more reports of wings bouncing, drink carts flying and passengers being jolted around. Researchers have raised concerns that the duration of severe turbulence on flights over the North Atlantic has increased by 55% over the past four decades. The significant increase has been attributed to climate change. In March, seven people were hospitalized after a commercial jet experienced turbulence, while one person died in a separate incident that occurred on a business jet, according to to NPR. In December, dozens were injured on a Hawaiian Airlines flight from Phoenix to Honolulu due to significant turbulence. A jet stream is essentially an atmospheric highway located at the level where jets cruise. Winds in this high-speed river of air often reach 250 mph. Typically, aircraft flying from west to east will make better time than when flying from east to west. Aircraft flying from west to east often have a jet stream tailwind, as opposed to a jet stream headwind, when flying from east to west. "As you're flying, [clear-air turbulence] can come out of nowhere, hit the aircraft quite suddenly, and you don't have time to put the seatbelt sign on," Smith said. Clear-air turbulence is undetectable by onboard radar equipment. While clear-air turbulence poses a significant challenge for pilots due to its invisibility, avoiding the jet stream altogether may not be a viable solution. Even though modifying flight paths to not be in the jet stream could lower the risk of clear-air turbulence, it could also lead to other issues. "If you were to avoid the jet stream when you're flying, you might have your flight times be a little longer, you might actually burn more fuel, which of course is going to contribute to more significant impacts on the climate," AccuWeather director of forensic sciences John Lavin said. Climate change linked to bumpier flights

www.hap2it.com July 20, 2023 HAPPENINGS Page 7 Fly Benight Humans aren't the only animals aware of mortality. Elephants are known to grieve their dead. Crows conduct a sort of funeral for lost flock. Communal insects such as bees, ants and termites designate only certain members of the colony to be six-legged morticians. Add to this list fruit flies who, in newly publicized research, apparently experience a shortened lifespan if they are exposed to the corpses of dead fruit flies. Researchers at the University of Michigan found that when healthy fruit flies saw dead fruit flies, they were inexplicably shunned by other flies. More fundamentally, the death-exposed flies quickly lost their stored fat and died sooner than their nontraumatized counterparts, according to The New York Times. The reasons aren't fully understood, but one hypothesis suggests that the flies who see dead flies take them as a danger signal, and so divert more energy into reproduction (Job One) at the expense of longevity. Food for Thought Occasionally — perhaps even with alarming regularity — there are news stories of people discovering stuff in their fast food or groceries that, politely put, wasn't ordered or desired. Examples include a frog in a bag of frozen vegetables, a serrated knife in a Subway sandwich, a severed finger in frozen custard, a tooth in a Milky Way bar, a bullet in a Costco hot dog and an oven glove baked into a loaf of bread. In 2009, an Illinois man sued PepsiCo Inc. alleging that he found a mouse in his can of Mountain Dew. Company lawyers argued two points: first, that the mouse would have never passed through the bottling process intact and second, that the soda would have quickly dissolved the rodent into a jelly-like substance. Hmmm, that's a good point, albeit a disgusting one. The suit was settled out of court for an undisclosed sum. Best Medicine PMS jokes aren't funny, period. Medical History This week in 1985, zippers for stitches were announced by H. Harlan Stone, a surgeon who used zipper-like contraptions on 28 patients who he thought might require a second operation due to internal bleeding. The zippers, which lasted between five and 14 days, were then replaced with permanent stitches. Current surgical zippers are self-adhesive and can be used in both inpatient and outpatient cases. Observation "The true index of a man's character is the health of his wife." — English literary critic and writer Cyril Vernon Connolly (1903- 1974). In Connolly's case, wives. The first died in 1950 at the age of 39. The second died in 1996 at the age of 80. The third is reportedly still alive, hopefully in good health. Sum Body Six places that are often overlooked when applying sunscreen: 1. Neck. Overexposure to UV radiation here can result in crepey or draping skin. 2. Ears. Burns here lead to flaking, crusting and in the case of nonhealing wounds, the precursor to serious skin cancer. 3. Tops of feet, hands and fingers. Because they have minimal fat and lots of blood vessels, sun damage can increase risk of prematurely visible veins and loss of skin elasticity. 4. Lips. This increases risk of solar cheilitis, which causes discoloration, cracking and extreme dryness. 5. Eyelids. Overexposure can result in loss of elasticity and droopiness. 6. Scalp and hair. The former can become scaly and dry and blister or flake, leading to precancerous actinic keratosis while the latter can fade in color, dehydrate or become damaged and brittle. Medical Myths Cognitive decline with age is not uncommon, but dementia is not inevitable as you get older. Prevalence does increase with age: Approximately 10% of U.S. adults in 2019 had dementia, according to Population Reference Bureau, but that also meant 90% did not. Last Words "One never knows the ending. One has to die to know exactly what happens after death, although Catholics have their hopes." — Filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock (1899-1980). Page 10 HAPPENINGS July 20, 2023 www.hap2it.com Clayne Crawford and Max Martini play bank-robbing brothers in The Channel, available on video-on-demand, but those were not the roles they were offered first. Martini, 53, and Crawford, 45, persuaded director William Kaufman that they should play Mic (Marinit) and Jamie (Crawford). "I just remember Max going, 'Hey, you got offered this role. I got offered this other role. But, we gotta play brothers,'" Crawford said in a recent Zoom interview, imitating Martini's deep voice. Mic is Jamie's older brother. Both ex-Marines, they lead a crew to rob a bank in the Irish Channel neighborhood of New Orleans, but struggle to escape the city alive and with their score. Martini said Kaufman originally offered him the role of the FBI agent pursuing Mic, and Jamie. Kaufman originally saw Crawford as Mic. "I got on a phone call and tried to talk Will into letting us play the two brothers," Martini said. "We were able to convince him to juggle the roles and we landed with these two characters." Martini said he had been looking for a project that could cast him as Crawford's brother. The actors have been friends since co-starring in the 2005 film The Great Raid. Crawford and Martini also appeared in the film Spectral and filmed a pilot for All Signs of Death that HBO did not pick up as a series. Crawford said their families are close friends. "When my son, who's now 16, was born, Max was the first person there with flowers," Crawford said. "We've grown up together." Martini remembered Crawford meeting his infant son, too. "We became fathers together," Martini said. The close friendship made portraying hardened criminals more challenging, Crawford said. The Channel begins with a deadly firefight outside the bank as police arrive. Many of Mic and Jamie's men do not make it past that gunfight. However, Crawford said he struggled to keep a straight face playing shoot 'em up with Martini. "Max and I spend 95% of the time trying not to giggle," Crawford said. "The real effort is trying to look like a badass." All four of Martini and Crawford's projects together have been dramas. However, Martini concurred that his tendency is to goof off with Crawford. "It's so hard not to turn everything we do into a comedy," Martini said. Firearm safety was no laughing matter, however. Martini and Crawford have had extensive weapons training for previous roles. Martini appeared in Saving Private Ryan, 13 Hours and the TV drama The Unit. Crawford was on Rectify, Lethal Weapon and 24 and grew up handling guns. "We both grew up with weapons and learning safety from the men in our families," Crawford said. "Will had the best guys there on the ground with us, walking us through daily and just making sure that we were accurate in our movement. "Then, of course, most importantly that we were safe at all times," Clayne continued. Neither Crawford nor Martini are Irish. The dialect of the Irish Channel is called Yat, but Crawford struggled to adopt it. "I don't know if we executed it, so it's still a challenge," Crawford said. Martini said he deferred to the "local dialect coaches on the film that we would check in with regularly. Hopefully, we pulled it off." The most challenging aspect of The Channel, Martini said, was the emotional drama between Jamie and Mic. Martini said he appreciated how the men's family trauma came out in between the intense action scenes. "You find yourself in these moments with these two brothers living out issues that they've had in the past," Martini said. "Really human elements don't often come with these kinds of movies." Page 12 HAPPENINGS July 20, 2023 www.hap2it.com First-generation iPhone sells for $190,372.80 A rare, first-generation iPhone from 2007 was auctioned for $190,372.80, setting a new record for the "Holy Grail" of collectible iPhones. LCG Auctions said the auction for the factory-sealed 4 gigabyte model iPhone ended with a high bid of more than 400 times the device's original price. "The original 4GB model is considered a 'Holy Grail' amongst iPhone collectors," LGC Auctions wrote in its listing. "Its extreme scarcity is directly related to its limited production." The iPhone was discontinued just two months after its launch due to its popularity being far surpassed by the 8 gigabyte model. "The phone's provenance is pristine as the consignor was part of the original engineering team at Apple when the iPhone first launched," the listing stated. "Collectors and investors would be hard pressed to find a superior example." LCG Auctions previously sold an 8GB iPhone from 2007 for $63,356.40 in February. Suicidal ideation claims spur European review of popular weight-loss drugs The European Union agency responsible for supervising the medical and pharmaceutical sectors is looking into claims of suicidal thoughts experienced by patients of several medications used for weight loss, including popular drugs containing semaglutide, sold under several brand names including Ozempic and Wegovy. The review came after concerns were raised during the latest PRAC meeting, following three cases reported by the Icelandic Medicines Agency. Two of those cases involved suicidal thoughts, while a third person had thoughts of self-injury. Semaglutide is a medication used to treat type 2 diabetes. Ozempic and Wegovy which are both administered using an injection, along with Rybelsus oral tablets are the only three semaglutide treatments authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use in the United States. The drugs have become increasingly popular to treat weight loss. Suicidal behavior, thoughts or other tendencies are not listed as side effects on the drugs, the EMA points out. If you or someone you know is suicidal, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988. Nearby lightning leads Missouri woman to $50,000 lottery prize A Missouri woman who sought shelter from a storm at a convenience store ended up buying a Powerball ticket and winning $50,000. The woman told Lottery officials she was out driving when nearby lightning led her to make an unplanned stop. "There were two lightning bolts that both hit at the same time right next to me," the winner recalled. "I told my husband, 'I don't want to drive into that storm.'" While waiting for the storm the pass, the woman bought a ticket for the July 1 Powerball drawing. The player discovered the next morning that she was a $50,000 winner. The winner said she plans to spend her prize money on her grandchildren. A third of American couples choose 'sleep divorce' for more restful slumber More than one-third of coupled Americans who want better sleep are opting for a "sleep divorce." They're not actually divorcing, but sleeping in another room so that they each sleep better. "We know that poor sleep can worsen your mood, and those who are sleep deprived are more likely to argue with their partners. There may be some resentment toward the person causing the sleep disruption, which can negatively impact relationships," said Dr. Seema Khosla, a pulmonologist in North Dakota and spokesperson for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). In a recent survey by the AASM, 20% of people said they occasionally slept in another room to accommodate a bed partner; 15% said they did so consistently. About 45% of men reported sleeping in another room occasionally or consistently. About 25% of women did this. The study also found that about one-third of adults go to bed earlier or later than they want to in order to please a partner. Partners may be happier together with healthy sleep. Studies show those who consistently experience poor sleep are more likely to have conflict with their partners. Angry sea otter terrorizes California surfers and kayakers California and federal wildlife officials have vowed to do everything possible to safely capture a sea otter that has been "aggressively" approaching surfers and kayakers in the Pacific Ocean near Santa Cruz. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said they will do the best they can to capture the 5-year-old female otter, which has been making news by biting surfboards and exhibiting other aggressive behavior. Known as Otter 841, the animal was born at the Monterey Bay Aquarium but was released into the wild in 2021. The organizations say a team of capture specialists has been trying to catch the otter since July 2, but has been unsuccessful. The organizations say that once the otter is captured it will be examined before being brought to a permanent home at an aquarium or zoo. The organizations emphasize that "euthanasia and other lethal methods are not under consideration." Officials are asking surfers and kayakers to avoid approaching sea otters. coast to coast Kyle Richards reflects on being 'fully present' after one year sober Kyle Richards says she's "fully present" in her life after one year without alcohol. The 54-year-old television personality thanked fans for their support and further discussed her journey to becoming "alcohol free" in a post on Instagram Stories. Richards said she was "inundated with kind & supportive comments" after sharing the milestone on Instagram. "Thank you," the star told fans. "It seems many of you have similar stories and many of you want to go that route but are not quite sure how to. We are so programmed to think that we have to drink when we go out to socialize. Many of us are just on autopilot. And so many of us are accustomed to not being fully present these days anyway. But I can tell you there are plenty of things you can order that taste better than alcohol, are better for our bodies, and won't leave you feeling like [expletive] & remorseful the next day," she said. "Plus being fully present and clear about everything you say and do feels really good." Richards said in her post that she decided to go "alcohol free" because drinking was no longer serving her "physically, mentally or spiritually" and would leave her feeling depressed the next day "no matter how fun the night before was." Richards stars on the Bravo reality series Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which completed its 12th season in October 2022. Kyle Richards

Page 14 HAPPENINGS July 20, 2023 www.hap2it.com Members of the Screen Actors Guild took to the picket lines last Friday as they launched a strike after failing to reach a deal with studios. SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescherarrived at a picket line outside of Netflix's Los Angeles offices as fellow picketers cheered her on as more than 160,000 performers agreed to stop working last Friday morning. The strike action is expected to impact events like the Emmy Awards, San Diego Comic Con and sequels to major Hollywood blockbusters like Avatar and Gladiators as the onscreen stars throw their hat in with the ongoing Writers Guild of America Strike. Gone will also be red-carpet events for the debut of movies and show already in the can. Actors Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon and Emily Blunt walked out of their glitzy premiere of Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer in London last week as the strike was declared. In response, networks are loading up on unscripted reality shows like The Masked Singer, The Amazing Race, Survivor and Kitchen Nightmares. Representatives for the actors unionsaid they wanta fair portion of the profits from streaming and better working conditions along with heading off threats of being replaced in some instances by artificial intelligence. "SAGAFTRA negotiated in good faith and was eager to reach a deal that sufficiently addressed performer needs, but the AMPTP's [Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers] responses to the union's most important proposals have been insulting and disrespectful of our massive contributions to this industry," SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher said. "The companies have refused to meaningfully engage on some topics and on others completely stonewalled us. Until they do negotiate in good faith, we cannot begin to reach a deal." Actors shared their support for the strike in interviews and on social. Actress Margot Robbie, who was attending the premiere of Barbie said she would "absolutely" stand by a strike. Cynthia Nixon, of And Just Like ThatandThe Gilded Agesaid she was proud to stand with the WGA members who have been striking since May after negotiations between them and the studios broke down. AI and revenue from streaming services were also at the heart of several issues when the writers hit the picket lines. "Actors and writers together demand a fair share of the record-breaking profits the studios have been reaping from our labor for far too long," she wrote. "We will win this!" Truth Be Told actress Octavia Spencer wrote on Instagram that the actors and writers "cannot do it without each other." "I support the many skilled unionized workers across all industries that deserve fair compensation," she wrote. Kumail Nanjiani, Elizabeth Banks star in ‘Migration' Illumination is giving a glimpse of the new film Migration. The studio shared a trailer for the animated comedy featuring the voices of Kumail Nanjiani andElizabeth Banks. Migrationis written by Mike White (The White Lotus) and directed by Benjamin Renner. The film follows a family of mallard ducks - - dad Mack (Nanjiani), mom Pam (Banks), son Dax (Caspar Jennings) and daughter Gwen (Tresi Gazal) -- who migrate from New England to Jamaica. "As the Mallards make their way South for the winter, their well-laid plans quickly go awry. The experience will inspire them to expand their horizons, open themselves up to new friends and accomplish more than they ever thought possible, while teaching them more about each other -- and themselves than they ever imagined," an official synopsis reads. Awkwafina,Carol Kane, Keegan-Michael Key, David Mitchell and Danny DeVito also have voice roles. Illumination shared a teaserfor the film in April. Migration opens in theaters Dec. 22. The Marvels trailer reveals return of feline favorite An important and fluffy hero returns to the screen in The Marvels. The upcoming Marvel movie will see the return of Goose, the fuzzy feline flerken adopted by Brie Larson's Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel. At first, Carol assumes that Goose is a normal earthling cat, only to discover that she's actually a flerken, a maneating alien with Lovecraftian tentacles concealed under all that orange fur. Executive producer Mary Livanos remains tightlipped about Goose's exact role in The Marvels, but she teases: "Goose is her own person. She is full of surprises, and she certainly has a lot in store over the course of this story." Unfortunately, a few actors had to keep their distance from the feline talent. Larson herself is highly allergic, which means that all of Carol's scenes with Goose are CGI. Speaking to EW for a recent cover story onThe Marvels, Larson jokes that complicated stunts and elaborate fight scenes didn't scare her —but orange cat fur did. "I'm still allergic.. a lot of the CGI budget goes towards me and the cat,” Larson says in an interview conducted prior to the start of the SAG-AFTRA strike. movie news Members of the Writers Guild of America East are joined by SAG-AFTRA members as they both hold up signs picketing in Times Square WEEKEND BOX OFFICE REPORT July 14th - 16th, 2023 1. Page 30 HAPPENINGS July 20, 2023 www.hap2it.com July 20, 2023 through July 26 2023 ARIES (March 21-April 19) You may be feeling like your every move is being watched or that rules are more stringent right now. You can receive favorable results if you continue to put your best foot forward and remain focused on your current projects. TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Remain optimistic and you can discover the hidden benefits. Numerous opportunities could be waiting for you and might help to create something worthwhile out of what may have once seemed like less useful materials. GEMINI (May 21-June 20): You may be feeling a need to compromise when it comes to disagreements in order to keep the peace. You could be feeling generous towards loved ones or friends. Try not to take good luck or forgiveness for granted if it comes your way. CANCER (June 21-July 22): Try to avoid getting wrapped up in a new romantic entanglement or a get rich quick venture for now. A less emotionally dependent friendship can help create a calming space even in the face of criticism. LEO (July 23-Aug. 22):You may be bighearted enough to forgive and forget. Debts could be weighing heavily on your mind right now so it could be best to avoid major purchases until you have things more under control. Be careful to not get distracted. VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Words can have more impact than you realize. Sharing wisdom and advice is a real responsibility, be sure you are 100% transparent. There could be someone suspicious of your motives right now so do your best to reassure them when you can. LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): You may be feeling more in tune recently when it comes to your social instincts and ability to create happiness for yourself and others. Be careful to avoid letting someone else alter your viewpoint with their own agenda. SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): A sense of purpose may accompany you wherever you go. Your friends or family might not share your passionate ambition and determination for success, but it does not mean they do not respect you and love your enthusiasm. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): You cannot evade your obligations, but they do not need to be your only priority. There can be more to life than work; remain upbeat and optimistic. Don’t exaggerate your abilities just to impress someone. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Now may be the time to embrace new people and things. Your social circle could expand exponentially if you participate in community activities or group outings. Focus on innovative ideas and concepts rather than emotional intrigue. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): You may secretly be harboring romantic feelings for a coworker or friend. Try not to mistake friendly or work-based situations for romantic affection. Remain realistic and be sure you are focused on your job or duties. PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Your mind is a tool that can be used any way you might need. Look for reliable information and hammer out some of the details you may need to refine. Try to avoid misunderstandings with your loved ones or coworkers..
