A message from the Principal

Hello and welcome to Cheetham Church of England Community Academy.
We look forward to working in partnership with you to ensure that your child’s
learning journey through our school is a happy and successful one.

We want our children and families to have high aspirations and to believe in better,
and we understand that this starts by believing in yourself. We value and celebrate
the unique qualities that our pupils bring to their learning and we strive to give
each child a wide range of opportunities that help them to shine as individuals
as they develop their interests and talents.

We know how important it is to have only the highest quality teaching and learning
and so we invest a great deal of time in developing learning for all. As we know that
we learn best when we learn together we invite you to join us in our happy school
where friendships and relationships matter.

Values for life

We aim to develop creative learners who can express themselves with confidence
and purpose and develop a love of learning.

Our core Christian values make our school an inclusive place of learning for everyone,
as we all learn best when we work as a team.  We aim to develop a strong culture of
learning, in partnership with parents, built upon respect, trust and friendship.

Our diverse community is reflected and celebrated in our curriculum, through which
we can build excellent communication and life skills, enabling our children to achieve
and become confident, tolerant, respectful adults.

In our school faith is valued and we aim to enrich spiritual development, so that our
children understand who they are in relation to the environment, the school, the local
and global communities. Through a relentless focus on continuous development, we
strive to enable all our learners to achieve and develop a passion for learning.

High Aspirations and Real Life Learning

At Cheetham our aim is to whet the appetite for learning by inspiring children
with our teaching and by giving them the tools they will need to be successful,
independent learners in a rapidly changing world. At the heart of everything we
do, is our philosophy that the best teaching and learning relies on 4 key ingredients
- what we refer to as the ‘Roots of Learning’ - Challenge, Autonomy, Reflection and
Engagement (CARE). Each ingredient is crucially important in ensuring that learners
grow and develop whilst in our care.

Teachers at Cheetham work tirelessly to ensure the ‘roots of learning’ are developed
through a combination of creative planning and good-quality experiences.

In addition to this, our well-balanced curriculum is underpinned by four key
elements we want to develop in every child, these are:

Ambition Knowledge of the world
Enquiry Spiritual and Emotional Awareness

trust, forgiveness, friendship, love and hope

“It’s brilliant to see
children learning through

hands on experiences,
it’s learning for life.”

“I’m really glad I was chosen
to be an Egger. Looking after

our school chickens is an
important job, and selling
their eggs raises money to

care for them.”

Friendship matters

We have built a very special community, where children, families and staff take
every opportunity to learn together. We offer many child and parent classes,
such as Come Dine with Dads, City Cooks as well as parent only classes, such
as English (ESOL), understanding behaviour and paediatric first aid.
We encourage parents to be a part of the school community and offer a weekly
coffee morning and regular charity events. Building and maintaining friendships
has always been an integral part of Cheetham’s ethos.
We are a listening academy, who actively seek the views of parents and the
wider community, through an annual consultation event, alongside regular
consultations throughout the year.

A Safe place

Cheetham thrives itself on being a kind, caring and supportive place to learn.
The ethos of our academy is underpinned by the work of the Wellbeing Teams
across the whole academy. Every pupil’s team will look different, depending
on their key stage. It is made up of the child’s Class Teacher and TA, Designated
Safeguarding and E Safety Staff, Pastoral Support Staff, Special Educational
Needs Support, Parent Support, Therapeutic Support and Language Support.

Pupils are encouraged to become familiar with the staff in their team and
are welcome to approach any member for support and advice. The staff in the
team are responsible for offering support, raising concerns and addressing any
issues that may arise.

There is a Lead Designated Person for safeguarding, who is supported by a team
of 5 safeguarding staff. We work together to coordinate care and support for
the whole family to ensure every child is able to thrive and succeed.
