Welcome

Waulud Primary School is a welcoming, thriving
‘oasis’ where our pupils are at the heart of
everything we do.

Our dedicated staff team make a difference to
every child and have high aspirations for all pupils
whatever their ability or starting point. Each child is
nurtured, encouraged and challenged to aim high
and take a real pride in who they are and what they
desire to achieve.

It is my firm belief that the relationship between
home and school is vital for pupils to thrive and
develop a love of learning alongside values for life.
My aim, supported by our school vision, the highly
committed staff and Governors at Waulud Primary,
is to continue to improve the education, wellbeing
and safety of your children.

Achievement for all

High expectations for all pupils are held at Waulud
Primary School. We endeavour to gather a clear
picture of pupils’ capabilities on entry to our school;
then ensure a robust and rigorous approach to
the teaching of reading, writing, mathematics and
computing so every child fulfils their potential.

We believe excellent communication skills are at the
core of academic achievement and, from Nursery,
build upon the children’s early language skills so they
are able to express their thoughts and articulate
their ideas. Effective systems that enable us to track
individual progress allow us to offer appropriate
intervention where necessary such as booster
groups, time with our Speech and Language
Therapist or support from outside agencies.

08 “Pupils are respectful of adults and
one another.”

Nurturing

Every child’s welfare and happiness is important to us.
Our children and parents know that they have our full
support throughout their school years from our warm,
welcoming and supportive staff team who strive to
build links between home and school.

We offer rich learning experiences across the school
and value building self-confidence, resilience and
a sense of wellbeing. We strongly encourage all
children to have a ‘growth mindset’ and work hard
together to promote the health and wellbeing of all.
Our children can achieve anything that they put their
minds to and through a range of extra-curricular
activities and specialist teachers, we ensure that all
children are given their chance to shine.

Creative Curriculum

We believe that learning is an adventure and so strive to
provide a challenging and exciting curriculum, which is
rich in experience and opportunity, to ensure the best
possible level of achievement for all children. At the heart
of all that we do, are our ‘Waulud Promises’ – a “bucket list”
of important life goals that we want our pupils to achieve
every year before they leave Waulud Primary School.

Creativity is at the centre of our learning. Music plays a
vibrant part in the life of the school and our choir perform
both locally and nationally in musical events. Children have
access to excellent provision through weekly PE and music
lessons, which are taught by specialist teachers.

“Teachers help pupils see the relevance of their
learning by adopting a themed or topic approach to
pull subjects together. Lessons are brought to life by
visits and visitors to the school.”
