DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: I am inspired by the power of design
and how it effects those who experience it. The psychology
of interiors is what first drew me to this profession. With each
design, I aim to engage empathy, reason, and creativity equally.

CIVIC & CULTURAL
Public Beach House: New Urbanism
FALL SEMESTER, 2018
Michigan’s Grand Haven State Park Beach House will be a multi-func-
tional space open to the public and will serve as retail space, infor-
mational center, and a gathering space to all visitors of the park.
Considerations for durability, clean-ability, mobility, and accessibil-
ity were considered. Redesign promotes optimal winter storage ca-
pabilities, educational opportunities, and community involvement.
INTRODUCTION 16.
As the main entrance to the beach house, the Breeze Way provides patrons with information about upcoming community events, safety pam-
phlets, park maps, and the history of Grand Haven, Michigan.

RETAIL UNITS
Within Multipurpose Room 2, four retail units line the East
wall. The purpose of this space is to provide the local com-
munity with a small market place. Each unit can be cus-
tomizable to the goods being sold at that time. The short
rental period allows tenants to sell their products without
being tied to a contract, making it the perfect opportunity
for someone starting their own business. Overall, it will
encourage visitors of the park to enter the beach house
and provide profitable opportunities for both the tenants
and the DNR.

HOSPITALITY CAFE
Cafe and Lounge: Development Tenant
FALL SEMESTER, 2017
This multipurpose cafe space provides the public community with
2,400 square feet of flex space. Users have the opportunity to meet
for a quick coffee or stay for a day of remote work. The patrons are
free to use the space as they see fit.
INTRODUCTION 21.
FIREPLACE DESIGN
The unique design acts as both a functional heat source and ledge for
impromptu seating. Located in the center of the cafe, it acts as the focal
point which can be viewed from every seat. This structure simultane-
ously acts as the space divider between the more private seating and
the public seating.

HEALTH CARE
Detox Center: Aiding Individual Recovery
FALL SEMESTER, 2017
This space was designed for a patient room within a substance re-
habilitation facility. Activates in the space include sleeping and
personal reflection. The design objective is to create a space
that aids patients throughout recovery. The room will include a
nurse station with required equipment and an ADA restroom.
INTRODUCTION 26.
27. HEALTH CARE
RESEARCHED BASED SOLUTIONS
A series of nurse interviews were conducted throughout the design process. Research indicated that patient safe-
ty will require additional attention. Due to the nature of the patient’s stay, it can be expected that symptoms
such as aggression, depression, anxiety, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, nightmares, and restlessness may occur.
The elimination of all cords, mirrors, wires, and hardware will be necessary to prevent the opportunity for self-harm.
All emergency equipment for the medical staff will be on-site locked away in the nurses’ station within the room.
The main purpose of this design is to provide a comfortable space for users and an efficient space for the staff.

tant; suitable for commonly touched surfaces;

tivity.

29. HEALTH CARE
BIOPHILIA: PROMOTING RECOVERY
Various elements within the room support recovery and optimism. Incorporating a mock skylight over the bed allows patients to feel connected
to the outdoors when they are not feeling well enough to leave bed. The stone feature wall and textured wallpaper reflect common textures and
movement found in nature. Most importantly, having direct access to natural light will aid in the patient recovery.

Kellogg Learning Bar: MSU’s Hospitality Business
2017-2019
Provided client with necessary furniture and finish selections for the Hospi-
tality Business Learning Lab renovation. The room serves as both a learning
environment and an event space for the Kellogg Hotel on Michigan State
University’s campus. As a student designer on this project, I was expected
to attend meetings throughout the design, construction, and inspection
phases.
