Over the years, as the needs of the military
evolved, so did the UDTs, developing into
the elite branch of the Naval Special Warfare
Command – the U.S. Navy SEAL (Sea-Air-
Land) teams. Today they are the Navy’s pri-
mary special operations force, conducting
small-unit military operations that generally
initiate from a body of water or coastal area.

The legacy of the early frogmen through to
the missions of today’s SEALs resides where
it all began – at the Navy UDT-SEAL Muse-
um, which opened on Veterans Day 1985 just
north of the Fort Pierce Inlet. The museum
initially focused solely on the WWII historical
aspects, but over the past 30 years it too has
evolved, expanding with tremendous growth
and inclusivity.

bought the rental rights of the resort and are

planning a long-awaited phase-3 expansion

that is expected to reach completion by the

end of 2018.

Currently, the 12-year-old community

boasts 400 lots, and the Richardsons will be

expanding it to about 470 when the project

is done. The resort already offers many ame-

nities like a 14-hole golf course, two com-

munity pools, a system of pristine lakes, a

tennis court, and a clubhouse where weekly

events and concerts are held. Many of these

features will be getting a make-over with the

new phase. The clubhouse will be extended

by about 3,000 feet, and a brand-new, state-

of-the-art sports complex with shuffleboard

and bocce ball courts will be installed. A

third pool will be put in, as well as another

lake, and another four holes will be added to

the golf course.
