Patients who score 3 points out of

apnea. The higher the score the more
severe the condition. Someone who
scores 8 out of 8 has severe apnea.

“Family doctors are generally
the ones who hear the initial com-
plaint from a partner who says they
can’t sleep because their partner is
snoring or gasping for breath,” Dr.
Endara-Bravo explained. “That will
trigger an evaluation. The first thing
we do is a sleep study and there are
two types of studies that we can do.
The majority of my patients prefer
a home base evaluation where we
provide the patient with a small ma-
chine they sleep with for one night.
They return the next day and that
gives me all the information I need
to determine if the patient has or
doesn’t have sleep apnea.”

The Home Sleep Test records air-
flow, breathing effort, blood oxygen
levels and snoring.

“The second method is conducting
the study at the sleep lab,” he contin-
ued. “Usually those are reserved for
patients with pre-existing conditions
who feel they can’t do these tests
themselves. We have four private
rooms with private baths, so it’s like
checking into a hotel but you’ll have
a trained technologist watching you
when you sleep.”

The overnight sleep study is more
extensive than the home test. It mea-
sures electrical activity of the brain,
eye movements, muscle activity,
heart rate, breathing patterns, air
flow and blood oxygen levels.

Conservative treatments are the
first line of treatment for mild cases
of sleep apnea. If the patient is over-
weight, losing weight will decrease
the symptoms. Some patients can
get relief from changing their sleep-
ing position – from sleeping on
their back to their side. People with
sinus or nasal congestion should

volunteering At the Vero Beach Museum of Art. They both loved gazing at
the ocean. They enjoyed traveling during their retirement years, especially
to Paris. They were married for 61 wonderful years until Bill passed away
in 2010. Millie continued to live in and maintain their beautiful home until
just a few days before her death. She passed away peacefully and surround-
ed by love on January 8, 2022, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Millie is survived by her son, Chuck Correll, daughter, Amy Correll, son-
in-law Jamie Smith, and grand-daughters Allison Correll-Buss and Kather-
ine Correll Buss. She also will be greatly missed by nieces Anne Torrence,
Genie Munn, Susan Hickerson, and Gail Pope.

Millie requested a Service of Remembrance of her life to be held at the Com-

flowers, the family requests donations to Community Church of Vero Beach
or VNA Hospice House of Vero Beach.

Construction is expected to wrap
up in June on two more Sea Breeze
Cottages, both listed for $1,350,000,
Reynolds said.

The last three Sea Breeze Cottages
are priced at $1,480,000 and are due to
be completed by the end of the year.

So far, 15 of the 21 units in Sea
Breeze Cottages have been sold and
the owners have moved into 12 of the
units, Reynolds said. Buyers in the
community get deeded beach access.

The cottages are 3,078 square feet
with elevators, impact glass, metal
roofs and a private courtyard with

a pool and an outdoor kitchen, said
Sven Frisell of the Reynolds Team.

“What’s great about the develop-
ment is the HOA takes care of com-
mon areas and the deeded beach ac-
cess,” Frisell said. “And that’s all the
HOA does. So, the HOA fees are a re-
ally reasonable $300 a month.

“The beach access is directly across

a combination, so there’s only access
for people who live at The Strand. The
beach is pretty much theirs. There’s
nothing really around, so the beach
is very private and not crowded at all.

“You’ll probably see more turtle tracks
on that beach than footprints,” Frisell
said. “It’s beautiful, really serene.”

Frisell described the barrier island
real estate market as “very good, if
not hot.”

“They’re coming from all over,”
Frisell said.
