IN VERO, DEBATING THE FUTURE OF ICONIC ‘DODGERTOWN’

I’ve got to admit: I was more than a little intrigued by

The Vero City Council no

The city can’t, in good conscience, sell the long-idle

The city must sell the land to Indian River County –

1 Sweet! No, really. The El-
liott Museum in Stuart
opens its next juried art exhibi-
tion “Sweet!” this Saturday. Art-
ists were challenged to interpret
the theme – food – creatively,
opening a literally global range
of possibilities, including many
that could claim the title role.
According to the Elliott, entries
came in from all over Florida,
and “75 2-D and 3-D works in
all media from 55 artists were
selected to show.” This promises
to be a deliciously engaging ex-
hibition, opening Saturday with
an artists’ reception from 2 p.m.
to 5 p.m. The reception includes
something you don’t often run
across in a museum: cake deco-
rating demonstrations, in the El-
liott’s art studio. In an apt exam-
ple of symbiosis, the exhibition
is sponsored by Publix. “Sweets”
will remain on display through

Chuck’s Seafood: Wonderful venue for fine, fresh fare

BY TINA RONDEAU | Correspondent

It had been another sultry late-sum-

a bit after 7 at Chuck’s, the venerable Fort

the Indian River Lagoon.

The hostess led us to a table in the

Lucky us! We love dining on Chuck’s

The hostess tried to warn us off – rain’s
