Presidents page Dear Esteemed Members,
I take this opportunity to thank you for your kind support and
guidance from time to time.
I thank all the Central Council Members of IRIA for attending the
November Central Council meeting at large number. Active
participation of members in the CCM is a healthy sign for any
organization.
As you are aware that the association is facing a tough time as
several complaints of rigging has being received by election
committee in the recently concluded IRIA Elections. IRIA HQ has
filed a Police complaint to investigate and find the culprit at the
earliest. The matter has been left for the wisdom of the Central
Council, extraordinary meeting of which has been fixed on 9th
December, 2018 at 11.00 AM at IRIA House, New Delhi. As this is
an important matter, I request all the Central Council Members to
attend the meeting.
As decided in November CCM, only elected Central Council
Members as per constitution shall be allowed to attend the meeting.
No proxy member will be allowed to attend the meeting. You are
also requested to bring your photo ID Card for identification.
I am happy to share that lot of academic activities are being done at
state level. Many CMEs, workshops and State Conferences are
being organized by state chapters with good scientific program.
We request all the members to follow the PC & PNDT Act in its letter
and spirit as it is the law of the land.

Season’s Greetings!
In view of the allegations of rigging in the e-voting system in the recent
elections, an extra-ordinary Central Council Meeting has been fixed on 9th
December, 2018 at 11.00 AM at IRIA House, New Delhi. All the Central
Council Members are requested to attend this meeting and oblige.
The ‘Indian Radiological & Imaging Association’ is now a proud participant of
the International Day of Radiology 2018 (IDoR-2018), which was celebrated
on 8th November.This is a global initiative from European Society of
Radiology (ESR), American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Radiological
Society of North America (RSNA), which was initiated in 2012. The theme for
IDoR 2018 is –Cardiac Imaging. I am glad to share that many of the State
chapters organized academic programs in Cardiac Imaging and celebrated
this day to commemorate Prof. Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen for his contribution to
Radiology.
The 2nd IREP 2018 was organised successfully by Punjab state chapter at
SGRD Institute of Medical Sciences, Amritsar on 17-18 November, 2018. All
the members of the Organizing Committee did a commendable job for the
success of the IREP.
I am pleased to inform you that 50 annual conference travelling fellowships
are available for the delegates attending the annual conference. The
members, residents in particular, are requested to take benefit of these
fellowships.

Delhi Chapter Monthly Meeting of Delhi State Chapter of IRIA was held on 27 October
2018 at Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi
Monthly meeting of Delhi State Chapter of IRIA was Organized on 27 October
2018 at Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi. The theme of this meeting was
Pediatric Imaging. This meeting was attended by 62 IRIA members. President :
Dr Prakash Lalchandani welcomed all IRIA members. The highlight of this
meeting was lectures by Dr Pooja Abbey (Imaging in Pediatric Liver masses)
and Dr Bhawna Satija (Imaging Evaluation of Pediatric Upper Airways). Ten
Residents presented papers and judges for this competition were Dr Samarjit
Ghuman and Dr Rajat Jain. Dr Deepawali was awarded First Prize in Paper
Presentation Competition. Dr Prakash Lalchandani and Dr Rama Anand
felicitated speakers : Dr Pooja Abbey and Dr Bhawna Satija. Dr Lalendra Upreti,
Raghav Aggarwal, Dr Ankur Goyal and Dr Ajit Kumar felicitated paper
presenters: Dr Poonam Sherwani, Dr Vishnu, Dr. Neha, Dr.Deepika, Dr.Ankita,
Dr. Sandeep, Dr. Riya, Dr. Ashwini, Dr. Deepawali and Dr Shivam. Vote of

Madhya Pradesh Chapter IRIA indore subchapter of MP State Branch organised a CME on 30th
October 2019 at Hotel Best western plus on Ultrasound imaging of Thyroid &
Parathyroid. Dr Alka Ashmita Singhal is the Speaker. Her study of 400
patients of parathyroid imaging published in the international journal was an
eyeopener. About 100 radiologists attended the CME. IRIAMP president Dr
Santosh Gandhi, state Secretary Dr Durgesh Rathi, Dr O P Tiwari & Dr R K
Sodani were the cordinator. Senior Member Dr Sudheer Gokhale, Dr S Maitra
& Dr Hemant Karmalkar were present. Dr Mahesh Verma clinical secretary
conducted the program and Dr Prem Tripathi secretary Indore extended vote
of thanks.
Similarly IRIA Jabalpur branch of MP state chapter organised CME ON 3RD
NOV SATURDAY TOPICS FIBROID AND ADENOMYOSIS 2ND TOPIC 1ST
TRIMESTER ANOMALY SCAN. AND ECTOPIC PREGNANCY. SPEAKER
was DR TLN PRAVEEN. at HOTEL GULZAR Jabalpur & 10 min talk on

Telangana State Chapter CME ON CONVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY
Telangana State Chapter of IRIA in association with Department of Radiology
Kamineni Medical College Narketpally, Nalgonda Dist organized the CME ON
CONVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY on 18th November 2018 at Conference Hall,
Kamineni Medical College, Narketpally.
The theme of the Conference was Conventional Radiology with all talks on
conventional Radiology, Dr. Veeraiah as Organizing Chairman and
Dr.Sikandar as Organizing secretary.
This conference was organized under the guidance and of Dr. Prabhakar
Reddy Past National President IRIA & AOCR.
Guest speakers from various Hospitals and Medical Colleges from Hyderabad
delivered the talks
Quiz was conducted for postgraduates by Dr. Sikandar. The first and second
winners of the quiz were offered complimentary registration in upcoming
Radiologic Anatomic and Physiologic course of KARE resident programme.
The winner of the quiz was Dr. Hadiya from Bhaskar Medical College, second
winner was Dr. S V Manasa from MNR Medical College and third winner was
Dr. Anusha from Kamineni Medical College.
The inaugural Ceremony the Chief Guest was Dr. Veeraiah K and Guest of
Honor was Dr. Prabhakar Reddy Past National President IRIA and AOCR. Dr.
P V N Murthy HOD Radiology and Dr. Sikandar General Secretary were also
present.

The meeting was grand success with 150 student delegates, 16 guest
faculties,
All delegates and faculty thoroughly enjoyed the scientific content as well as
food , Cultural program and venue arrangements.

Kerala State International Day of Radiology 2018
International Day of Radiology 2018 was celebrated by IRIA Kochi City chapter
in association with IRIA Kerala State on 8th, 7.30 pm at IMA House, Kochi.
Prof. Dr M. R. Balachandran Nair, President, IRIA Kochi Chapter gave
welcome address. Dr Haneesh, Secretary, IMA Cochin inaugurated the meet.
Chief Guest was Padmasree Dr. Jose Chacko Periyapuram. Dr Rajesh
Kannan, Associate Prof. Radiology, AIMS & Vice President, Indian Asso of
Cardiac Imaging talked on How to prevent Heart Attack - Role of Imaging.
Senior most Radiologist, Dr Prasanna Kumar was honoured during the meet.
Dr Amel Antony introduced Dr Prasanna Kumar to the gathering. Vote of
Thanks was proposed by Dr. Rijo Mathew, Secretary, IRIA Kerala & IRIA

Gujarat State There were three main academic programmes in Gujarat State in
October and first week of November 2018.
1. Gujarat State Chapter of IRIA has conducted 2 days Exam Oriented
Course on 6th& 7th October 2018 at G.C.S. Medical College, Hospital and
Research Centre, Naroda Road, Ahmedabad alongwith Fetal, Abdomen
&Musculo-Skeletal Ultrasound workshops on 7th October 2018 in the
auditorium of G.C.S. Hospital on 7th October 2018. Dr. Harshadbhai R. Shah
was patron, Dr. Kalpesh B. Shah was organizing chairman and Dr. Deepak V.
Mehta was organizing secretary. Chief Coordinators were Dr. Asutosh Dave,
Dr. Chhaya Bhatt, Dr. Digish Vaghela, Dr. Nikuj Desai & Dr. Ankur Shah;
while Workshop Coordinators were Dr.GurudattThakker, Dr. Dipak Rajput &
Dr. Nikunj Desai. National Professors & Examiners were Dr. K. Mohanan, Dr.
C. Amarnath, Dr. Umesh Krishnamurthy, Dr. Ashok Mandal, Dr. B. K. Duara,
Dr. Sangeeta Saxena, Dr. Kushal Gehlot, Dr. Vijay Verma, Dr. Sikandar
Shaikh, Dr. Ramesh Chader& Dr. L Murli Kishna; while Gujarat State
Professors & examiners were Dr. Harashadbhai R. Shah, Dr. Mrugesh
Doctor, Dr. Mona Shashrti, Dr. Pankaj Amin, Dr. Hitesh Rajpara, Dr. Viplav
Gandhi, Dr. Deepak Mehta, Dr. Ila Desai, Dr. Chhaya Bhatt, Dr. Nirmala
Chudasama, Dr. Purvi Desai, Dr. Anjana Trivedi, Dr. Nalin Patel & Dr. Mahak
Sood. Workshop faculties were Dr. Rahul Sachdeva, Dr. Bhavaharan & Dr.
Raj Negi; who have conducted abdominal, foetal and musckuloskeletal
ultrasound workshops respectively. Dr. Harshadbhai Shah, Dr. Hemant Patel
and Dr. Kalpesh Shah have addressed the participants after inaugural
ceremony on 7th October morning. This Mock Exam Course was participated
by 62 MD/DNB/DMRD examination appearing radiology resident doctors;
while ultrasound workshops were attended by about 150 delegates; which
include radiologists, faculties and residents. Gujarat Medical Council has
granted 4 credit points to delegates and 1 credit point to workshop conducting
faculties. Organising Committee thanks Siemens company for sponsoring the
Ultrasound workshops, all the faculties for sparing their time as well as Dean
and Superintendent of G.C.S. Medical College, Hospital and Research
Centre for their permission, cooperation and kind help in venue management.
2. One Day RIACON 2018 Conference was organised by Radiological &
Imaging Association, Surat Chapter on 18th October 2018 at Orchid-1 hall of
Hotel Avadh Utopia, Opp. Surat Airport, Dumas Road, Surat on the theme of
Upper Limb Musculo-skeletal Ultrasound, First Trimester Foetal Anomaly
Scan and Foetal
Gujarat State Echocardiography. Dr. Navin D. Patel was organizing chairman, Dr. Mona D.
Shashtri was organizing co-chairperson, Dr. PragneshVaghela was
organizing secretary and Dr. Chetan Panchal was joint organising secretary.
Dr. Ashwin Lawandeand Dr. S. Pradeep Shreenivasan were the invited guest
faculties. Dr. Navin D. Patel had given welcome address, Inauguration was
done by Surat organising committee, Gujarat state office bearers and invited
faculties. Then, Dr. Hemant Patel was felicitated for being elected as National
President Elect by organizing committee. The scientific program has
alternating sessions of guest lecture followed by ultrasound workshop on
same topic. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. PragneshVaghela. More than
200 delegates attended the excellent scientific programme. Gujarat Medical
Councilhas granted 4 credit points to delegates and 2 credit points to faculties
All delegates have also enjoyed delicious food and good ambience of venue.
Organizing committee has thankedfaculties, management of Hotel Avadh
Utopia and sponsors Mindray Co., Medirays Corporation, Accurate Medical
Prints &Biocare Imaging.
3. The International Day of Radiology pre-celebration was done on 1st
November 2018 at Chachalba Auditorium of B. N. Patel Institute of
Paramedical Science & Dept. of Imaging at Anand. This half day pre-
celebration programme was based on “History Remains & Advances
Continues 123 Years and counting……” as theme. Dr. Ritesh Prajapati,
Radiologist and Dr. (Prof.) Prakash Vohra were chief guest; while Dr. (Prof.)
Deepak Mehta and Dr. Suresh Bhoi, Radiologist were guests of honour. At
the onset; Dr. Arpita Aorta, Director has introduced the guest faculties. Dr.
Ritesh & Dr. (Prof.) Deepak has delivered their guest lectures on the theme.
During their speech, Dr. (Prof.) Prakashbhai and Dr. Suresh had shared their
experiences and guided the students for bright future. This scientific
programme was followed by speech of Managing Trustee Bhikhubhai Patel.
Then, a skit with role pay on “Safety precautions and importance of consent”.
Then, students have presented their small projects of making MRI scan, CT
scan & Scintillation Counter models as well as presented the scientific
posters. About 150 students and faculties had attended and enjoyed this half
day program.

MSBIRIA WWW@2018 Pune-Brilliant concept by MSBIRIA & PCMC chapter
Today's woman is educated and financially independent, but she still
remains despaired as compared to men in many aspects. This gender disparity
is the root cause for today's Indian society to prefer the girl child.
To curb this mentality the MSBIRIA officials (2018-2019 ) designed
www@2018 & awarded to PCMC Chapter .Office decided to adopt a novel
approach by celebrating the womanhood allowing the MSBIRIA women a
complete free hand to organise and execute a complete women's show in the
www@2018. WWW- women's imaging, women Organizers, women faculty. This
was the first of its-kind event to be done not only across the state,but also across
the India. The organising secretaries Dr Preeti Shinde and Dr Ritu Lokhande put
their heart and soul into it which made the academic conference a huge success.
They produced a fantastic show for 2 days on 20th and 21st October 2018 at
Grand Sheraton Pune with a feat of 350 plus registrations. The organising chairs
a Dr Alka Karnik & Dr Priscilla Joshi had their
guiding glare constantly on the dynamic duo. The 'inauguration function was
graced by Adv. Vandana Chavan, the sitting member of RajyaSabha. She
extended her help to the radiologist community for the ever sour PCPNDT issue.
The theme of the conference was based on women centric topics which
covered breast & pelvic imaging predominantly . Common musculoskeletal
topics like shoulder
US and osteoporosis panel was also covered. The faculties from Pune, Mumbai,
Nagpur, Nashik and Aurangabad made time to deliver talks. All the young
faculties across the state were widely applauded by big attendance in the hall.
Postgraduate students participated in ePaper & Poster competition Judged by Dr
Manali Rahalkar , Pratiksha Yadav , Roshani Kawle & Winners were awarded
10UltraFest India registrations which was MSBIRIA’s concept to push good
academic excellence to future platforms .
The cultural event was a novel concept where the organising team pooled to
showcase their catwalk talents to portray the evolution of fashion in women'
Fantastic show with amazing time, music and lights coordination had made the
spectators jaw drop.Cutural event was conceptualised and executed by Dr
Chandrima & Snehal Patel. The beautiful evening ended with people dancing to
the female DJ- Adeeken's hot numbers. The food, the venue, the scientific
sessions and the cultural evening were a feast to the delegates!
MSBIRIA & PCMC Chapter are proud to put up an inspiring trend for the
nation.PCMC officials were mentor & supporting backbone for this mega event ,
to name few Pradeep Gandhi ,Sandip Pansare ,Rahul Agle , Madhav Kulkarni ,
Amol Mehta & Many others . Mrs Prerna Vichare, office administrator was as
usual at its best in handling flawless registration & certification. Next www@2019
was awarded to Aurangabad; all are awaiting the next one.
