Dear Members,
Greetings!
It gives me great pleasure to communicate with you through
the February 2019 issue of the e-Newsletter of Indian
Radiological & Imaging Association.
We have already launched Yuva IRIA. Yuva IRIA will be exclusively working for the
welfare of postgraduate residents and young radiologists. This will help IRIA HQ to
understand and address the problems faced by radiology residents and young
radiologists. This will also be a platform to showcase the talent of the younger
generation of radiologists. Members are requested to contribute their
inputs/ideas/suggestions at [email protected].
I also would like to draw your kind attention towards Project Samrakshan, which is
also a new initiative planned by IRIA to address the high rates of perinatal mortality,
low birth weight and preterm babies in India. This program will aim at a deeper and
broader focus on fetal and maternal well-being through early identification of
potential morbidity that may affect feto-maternal well-being. I request the members to
give their inputs and suggestions on the same.
Let us celebrate Women’s Day- A Mother, a Daughter, a Wife, a Professional, a
Homemaker and most importantly compassionate beings. A woman in today’s era
wears numerous hats and plays 100 different roles and we can vouch that she can
win an Oscar for each role that she plays. We feel proud that Radiology is one of the
fields where there is a palpable presence of women and in fact, no family is complete
without a woman. Let’s celebrate the most beautiful and complex creation of God
and let’s honour the women of our field.
“There is no more force is powerful than a Woman determined to rise”

On 8th March, 2019, which is celebrated as ‘Woman’s Day’, IRIA will celebrate it in
its own unique way to cherish all our lady Radiologists. I appeal to all women of
radiology to get together for coffee. Discuss issues and inoculate ideas of women
empowerment in radiology, woman’s imaging, finance management, health and
nutrition or beauty tips, the world is your playground and the choice is yours. You
may set this up in your city/town at any venue like a restaurant or a coffee shop. The
theme will be pink for all. I request YUVA IRIA for executing this celebration in best
possible manner. Be loud, Be supportive, Be vocal and Be heard. Feel free to have
group photo/selfie with your colleagues and besties.
Send your feedbacks & lovely ideas on [email protected].
I request all the members to register for SonoSummit 2019, which shall be organised
by IRIA HQ from 27-30 June, 2019 at Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai. As already
informed, this is the largest conference in India exclusively on Ultrasound. It will
provide platform for the radiologists to share and inoculate their ideas and vision and
learn Ultrasonography discipline in more depth.
Best regards,
Dr. Hemant Patel
