PRESIDENT'S PAGE

Dear Esteemed Members,

It gives me a great pleasure to communicate you through the February 2021 issue of the e-Newsletter of
IRIA. At the outset, I take this opportunity to thank all of you for your kind support for electing me to the
highest post of this prestigious association. I express my sincere gratitude to all the members.

I am glad to see that Dr. Ramesh S. Shenoy and his team is doing wonderful job in designing and bringing
of the monthly e-Newsletter. As you are aware that our association is growing day by day and so are the
activities of the association. Therefore, apart from News Bulletin, a monthly e-Newsletter of IRIA has been
started by IRIA HQ giving the information of various activities of the association at the National and State
Chapter level to the members.

I thank and congratulate all of you for the grand success of Fetal Radiology Course 2021, which was organized on hybrid mode. The
first two days i.e. 28th & 29th January were for online event and on 30th and 31st January 2021, it was organized both online and
onsite modes at Hotel ITC Grand Chola at Chennai. This was a unique conference which was organized by IRIA exclusively on
Foetal Radiology. There were lectures, live workshops and video demonstrations by world-renowned faculties which gave the
participants the best exposure and expertise through both onsite and virtual platform. I congratulate the Team IRIA under the
stewardship of Dr. Deepak Patkar, Immediate Past President; Dr. Hemant Patel, Past President; Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Hon.
Treasurer; Dr. V. N. Varaprasad, Dr. Sikandar Shaikh & Dr. Murali Krishna, State Coordinators and Scientific Committee consisting
of Dr. Bhupendra Ahuja, Dr. T.L.N Praveen, Dr. Rijo Mathew, Dr. Raghav Aggarwal, Dr. Chander Lulla, Dr. Bimal Sahni, Dr. Rahul
Sachdev, Dr. Aniruddha Kulkarni for the success of this event.

I thank all the Central Council Members and General Body members for attending the meetings held at ITC Grand Chola at Chennai
in good number. Your presence made the meetings very fruitful.

As informed during my presidential address and also passed in the General Body meeting of IRIA, I have set the following goals to

I am happy to inform you that ICRI has already started organizing Radiology Teaching Program on daily basis. The weekends have
been set for the Radiology Consultants. All these programs are very successful.

We are in process of updating the Website of IRIA with international standards. All academic material including lecture videos,
Image Bank, 3D anatomy models, and interactive cases, personnel page, certificates, Online, payment gateway, quiz etc. will be put
up on the website.

Dear Esteemed Members,It gives me immense please to interact you through the first issue of the
e-Newsletter of my tenure as Secretary General, IRIA. At the outset, I thank all the members of our
esteemed association for electing me as Secretary General and giving me the opportunity to serve the
association.

Fetal Radiology Course 2021: I take this opportunity to congratulate all of you for the grand success of
Fetal Radiology Course 2021, which was organized on hybrid mode on 28th & 29th January (virtual) and
on 30th and 31st January 2021 (virtual and onsite at Hotel ITC Grand Chola at Chennai. Its great efforts
put in by IRIA, ICRI Teams along with local support from Chennai youth. I thank the scientific faculties for putting up excellent show.

Annual CCM – GBM: I also take this opportunity to thank the Central Council Members for attending CCM in good number and the
members for attending the annual GBM at Chennai which were organized at hybrid mode. Active discussions in all meetings makes
our association have vibrant outlook.

Membership Drive: I am happy to inform you that more and more Radiologists are becoming members of our Association. The total
membership strength as on today has crossed 18,500 members. Campaign why become member, started is showing results as office
tried to explain all what are advantages of membership (IRIA, ICRI or SSS of IRIA) As decided in Chennai, we would like to make it as
simple and paperless as possible.

I am glad to share that Team ICRI started Resident Education Program from the very first day after taking over at Chennai. Detail
education programs for the Residents in particular are being organized in evening from 07.00 pm to 09.00 pm from Monday to Friday.
The Saturday and Sunday are for Refresher Courses in different sub-specialties. I congratulate team ICRI under the stewardship of Dr.
V. N. Varaprasad, Chairman ICRI and Dr. Sikdandar Shaikh, Secretary, ICRI for planning of these wonderful academic events.

As decided in the ICRI & IRIA meetings held at Chennai, IREP and CME programs in 2021: Since in the year 2020 none of the onsite
CME programs which are funded by IRIA and conducted by ICRI, could be organized by the allotted state chapters due to spread of
pandemic COVID-19 and lockdown in the country, the matter was discussed in the Governing Body & General Body meetings of ICRI
and Central Council meeting of IRIA held on 30th January 2021 at Hotel ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. In the Governing Body, General
Body meetings of ICRI and Central Council Meetings of ICRI, it was decided that since the onsite IRIA funded and ICRI conducted
IREP and CME Programs could not be organized last year by the state chapter due to spread of pandemic COVID-19 and lockdown in
the country, the same can be organized the same state chapter of IRIA, who were allotted these programs last year. Accordingly, the
office of ICRI has communicated to the state chapters for the needful.

As decided in the CCM and GBM, we are in process of upgradation of the website of IRIA to make it as per international standards.
Our attempt is to make our website “one stop solution “for everything and make it attractive at the same time interactive. The new
website will be having cases portal , Anatomy teaching tutorials and 3D Teaching tools to make learning imaging simpler and happier.

Members are requested to download our App by searching IRIA National App at Google play store (android), App store (ios). The User
Name is your email id and welcome would be the password.

We all are aware that in last few years IRIA HQ landed into legal spat for various issues which may not be relevant to the benefits of
common members, I wish to appeal esteem members to help HQ to reduce the exuberant expenses on legal matters.

We all know that IRIA has immense talent all across India in various imaging modalities. Its my responsibility to nurture the same and
give them showcase platforms at various National academic events.

As discussed in various meetings at Chennai, our social wings must take RAKSHA to newer scale. At the same time concept of
Preventive Radiology should shape up well in coming yearI

request the members to feel free to contact me on any issue pertaining to the association.

FETAL RADIOLOGY COURSE AND INSTALLATION OF TEAM IRIA

The Indian Radiological & Imaging Association organized ‘Fetal Radiology Course 2021’ at virtual platform on 28th & 29th January
2021 and both onsite & online on 30th & 31st January 2021 at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. This was a unique hybrid conference
which was organized by IRIA exclusively on Fetal Radiology.

There were lectures, live workshops and video demonstrations by world-renowned faculties which gave the participants the best
exposure and expertise through a virtual platform. There were live workshops on 30th and 31st January by the renowned faculties in
Fetal Radiology.

The 30th and 31st January were also the days for the various business meetings of the association and induction ceremony of ICRI
and IRIA at Hotel ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. The day of 30th January was started with the Annual Governing Body meeting of ICRI
followed by the Annual Central Council Meeting of ICRI. After that, the induction ceremony of ICRI was held. Dr. V.N. Varaprasad
was installed as the Chairman of ICRI by Dr. Lalendra Upreti, Immediate Past Chairman. Vice Chairmen Dr. S. Shivram & Dr.
Anbarasu; Secretary Dr. Sikandar Shaikh and Governing Body Members Dr. Raghav Aggarwal, Dr. Amel Antony, Dr. Gopi Kishor
Gangopadhyay, Dr. Gaurav Goswami and Dr. Chaitnya Tapasvi also took charge of their office. Dr. Shailesh Lunawat, outgoing
Secretary, ICRI presented the annual report of ICRI for the year 2020. All the outgoing office bearers of ICRI namely Dr. Lalendra
Upreti, Immediate Past Chairman; Dr. Shailesh Lunawat, Secretary; Dr. Deepak V. Mehta & Dr. K. S. Sodhi, Vice Chairmen; Dr.
Biren Hari Saraswati, Hon. Treasurer; Dr. Rakesh Mishra & Dr. Natasha Gupta, Joint Secretaries, Dr. Mahesh B.M., Dr. Ramesh
Chander, Dr. Atin Kumar, Dr. Babu S. Peter, and Dr. Silpa Kadiyala, Governing Body Members of ICRI for the years 2019-2020
were presented the certificate of meritorious services rendered by them.

The induction ceremony of ICRI was followed by the Annual General Body meeting of ICRI.

In the evening, the induction ceremony of IRIA was held at Hotel ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. Dr. C. Amarnath was installed as the
President of IRIA by Dr. Deepak Patkar, Immediate Past President. The Presidential medal was exchanged. In his presidential
address, Dr. C. Amarnath thanked all the members for electing him to the highest post in IRIA. Dr. Pushpraj Bhatele took over
charge as President Elect of IRIA for the year 2021. Dr. Sampangi Ramaiah & Dr. Akhilesh Sharma, Vice Presidents and Dr.
Sandeep Kavthale, Secretary General, IRIA also took charge. Dr. Rajeev Singh, outgoing Secretary General presented the annual
report of IRIA for the year 2020. The members namely Dr. Shilpa Lad, Dr. Natasha Gupta, Dr. Mitusha Verma, Dr. Gaurang Raval,
Dr. Rajendra Solanki, Dr. Eesha Rajput, Dr. Gauri Ahuja, Dr. Malini Lawande, Dr. Srijita Ghosh, Dr. Anjali Prakash, Dr. Sikandar
Shaikh, Dr. L. Murali Krishna, Dr. Deb Boruah, Dr. Ramesh S. Shenoy, Dr. Gomathy Subramanyam, Dr. Rijo Mathew, Dr. Aniruddha
Kulkarni, Dr. Amit Pundkar were presented the ‘IRIA President’s Appreciation Award for the year 2020’ for their outstanding
contribution and meritorious services.

The outgoing office bearers were namely Dr. Deepak Patkar, Immediate Past President; Dr. Rajeev Singh, Secretary General; Dr.
Pradeep S. & Dr. Harish Chandak, Vice Presidents, IRIA; Dr. Navneet Gupta & Dr. Shankar Lal Kedia, Joint Secretaries IRIA were
presented the certificate of meritorious services rendered by them. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Hon.
Treasurer, IRIA.

DELHI CHAPTER

RAKSHA ACTIVITY BY DELHI STATE CHAPTER IN JANUARY, 2021 - Raksha Activity was performed in January, 2021 in the
central zone of Delhi State Chapter by Dr Shibani Mehra and her team. Essential items as toothbrushes, toothpaste and sanitary
products were distributed to women and girls living in village in the outskirts of Badarpur area by the Raksha team along with the
NGO Saksham. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and thanked the team. RAKSHA ACTIVITY IN FEBRUARY, 2021 -
Raksha activity was organized on 5th February, 2021 at Chinmaya Mission, Lodhi Road, Delhi, by Dr. Shalini Thapar, the South
zone Raksha co-ordinator from Delhi State chapter. Forty needy single parent families were provided the entire ration for one
month. Snack boxes were also provided to the beneficiaries and volunteers by Dr. Shalini’s younger daughter, as an independent
initiative, with savings from her pocket money. Dr. Anjali Prakash, Raksha co-ordinator for Delhi and North zone, was also part of
the event. The beneficiaries were very grateful and thanked the team for the help and support.

ULTRAVISION - 2021Ultravision-2021 was an exclusive Online Ultrasound CME organized by the Delhi State Chapter of IRIA, on
the 9th and 16th of January, 2021. The event saw a huge total attendance of about 1265 delegates.The theme of the CME was
‘Women’s Imaging’ and ‘Obstetric Imaging’. Talks were taken by renowned faculty from across the country – Dr. Ashok Khurana,
Dr. TLN Praveen, Dr. Upasana Baruah, Dr. Ladbans Kaur, Dr. Manju Handa Virmani, Dr. Jyoti Arora, Dr. Ramamurthy, Dr. Bimal
Sahni, Dr. Chandra Lulla, Dr. Anju Garg, Dr. Kavita Aneja, Dr. Smita Manchanda and Dr. Alok Varshney.The entire executive
team of Delhi State Chapter made an immense contribution to the success of the event. The event was greatly appreciated by
attendees from the entire country, with enthusiastic participation by all delegates.

TELANGANA STATE CHAPTER

We have conducted the virtual monthly meet of our chapter on 05 th January 2021 in which we had guest lecture by Dr J Jagan
Mohan Reddy on “MR Imaging in Non Compressive Myelopathy” and case presentations by Post Graduate students from various
medical colleges of our state.

The Sixth monthly webinar of our chapter was conducted on the topic “Webinar on Cardiac MRI” on 19 th January 2021. Four
guest lectures were delivered by faculty from Hyderabad, who are practicing the subspecialty of Cardiac Imaging – Dr Vishnu
Vardhan Ravilla, Dr Ramakrishna N, Dr Jwala Srikala, and Dr Deepak B. This highly informative webinar was well appreciated by
the students as well as practicing Radiologists.

Apart from the regular monthly meeting and webinar, we conducted the “Radiology CME” on 30 th & 31 st January 2021, in
association with Department of Radio-diagnosis Mamata Medical College, Khammam, Telangana. This two day CME included
various topics covering the whole body, keep in mind the post graduate student and practicing Radiologists. The faculty included
experienced speakers with interest in subspecialty Radiology. This CME was conducted in both virtual and physical formats. All
the lectures were of clinical interest and very informative for the students. More than 300 delegates attended this CME. The
Telangana State Medical Council has awarded 6 credit hours for this two day CME.

We have conducted the virtual monthly meet of our chapter on 09 th February 2021 in which we had guest lecture by Dr. Shahyan
Siddiqui on “Imaging Approach to Cavernous Sinus Lesions” and case presentations by Post Graduate students from various
medical colleges of our state.

The Seventh webinar of our chapter was conducted- Webinar on “Imaging in Female Infertility” on 23 rd February 2021. Three
guest lectures were delivered by faculty from Hyderabad – Dr Dhatri Kumari, Consultant in Reproductive Medicine, Dr Ruchita
Poddar and Dr Jampala Venkateswarulu. This highly informative webinar was well appreciated by the students as well as
practicing Radiologists and Gynecologists.

MAHARASHTRA STATE CHAPTER

1. One day hybrid CME on fetal GU system and Imaging in Infertility was organized by Nashik City Chapter on 17th January 2021
at picturesque location of Grape County Resort, Nashik.

2. More than 180 delegated enjoyed the onsite academic feast of amazing lectures delivered by great faculties like Dr. Mohit
Shah, Dr. Alpana Joshi, Dr. Aniruddha Kulkarni, Dr. Shilpa Satarkar and local star Dr. Manjusha Kulkarni. The CME was also
attended through online streaming by more than 600 delegates. The CME was followed by installation ceremony of new managing
committee led by President Dr. Sanjay Desale and Secretary Dr. Sandeep Pansare.

3. A two hour workshop on Basic Cardio-Pulmonary Life Support was organized by PCMC City Chapter on 7th February 2021.
More than 60 radiologists attended the hands on training and were awarded the certificates by Society of Anesthesiologists
Pimpri-Chinchwad.The amazing artwork in the form of Paintings, murals and rangoli designs by Dr. Nitin Jadhav, Dr. Madhuri
Salve and Dr. Roshani Warghane was displayed in the hall. The workshop was followed by installation ceremony of new
managing committee led by President Dr. Amol Mehta and Secretary Dr. Yogesh Chaudhary.
