SHORT SCENE FOR STUDENTS
Narrator: The next morning when the sun came up (a student brings up a sun) the soft
sounds of a flute (a student can whistle or play a flute) came over the hill and the zillions
of rats followed the Pied Piper to the river. (Students with rat puppets follow the Piper
as they jump into the blue or white fabric).
Piper: good bye rats.
Narrator: Then the Piper went to the Mayor and the councillors and said…
Piper: My 50,000 Gilders please!
Narrator: But the councillors and the Mayor yelled…
Councillors and Mayor: NEVER!
Narrator: The Piper flashed with rage and stamped his foot.
Piper: (Stamps his foot) You will be sorry for breaking your promise!
Narrator: A shiver ran down everyone’s back but the mayor just smiled and said.
Mayor: We just saved a ton of money.
Narrator: But as night fell (student holds up the moon) we could hear that haunting flute
music again, but this time it wasn’t rats that were following the beautiful music (as all
the students walk like zombies following the piper through the class) it was the children
of Hamelin.
Narrator: The piper led them to a mountain where they all crawled inside a cave (under
a desk or table) and once all the children were in the cave the door shut tight forever!
Students: Slam!
Narrator: The Mayor and the Councillors stood at the bottom of the mountain and cried.
Mayor and Councillors: Oh No! Our poor children we shall never break a promise again!
Narrator: Many years were to pass before the merry voices of children (students run
and play THEN stop to listen) would ring through the streets of Hamelin, but the
memory of the harsh lesson in everyone’s heart and was passed down from father to
son through the centuries…
Narrator: And that lesson girls and boys is what???
Students: Always keep your promise!!!
Narrator: Thank you…the end!
The End
