SECTION 4: ANNUAL PROGRAM PLANNING
The Rockland Orange Chapter annual program planning meeting/work day was held on
Saturday, May 15th 2021 at Spring Lake Day Camp in Ringwood NJ from 12pm-2pm and
34 Mothers were in attendance. The workday was combined with the Mother's Retreat for
a full day of work and play. The retreat planning committee beautifully decorated the
conference room booked for the workday portion with Jack and Jill decor, tablecloths,
balloons, and specially crafted gifts for each mother of spa essentials and T-shirts. For
any mother not able to attend in person, a virtual link was provided to watch along from
home.
The meeting opened with a prayer from the chapter Chaplain and the agenda was
reviewed (see timeline on page 63)
Madam President Mary Lynn Nicolas-Brewster recapped our incredible program year
including our engaging children's programming and accomplishments. She reviewed her
President's vision, chapter priorities, our goal for 5-star excellence and recognition, and
ended with her 2021-2022 Mother's Theme 'Continue to SOAR- Strengths, Opportunities,
Aspirations, Relationships'
VP Gwen Parris followed up with highlighting important reminders for membership
requirements, intake guidelines, and membership engagement.
Newly elected PD Victoria Agostini introduced her team and declared their vision of
providing exceptional support, collaboration, and creativity. She reviewed the National
programming requirements such as thrusts, modules, regional initiatives, and
familiarized the mothers with the We Are One initiative. Other topics included chapter
elected and appointed officers and their roles, and COVID-19 guidelines for
programming.
Next, the grade groups mothers were asked to break out into their circles to review and
finalize their activities before sharing. PD Victoria asked for the chapter's educators by
trade to be available to answer questions and give tips on how to plan activities that are
age-appropriate and engaging based on their experience and training.
After the group session, the mothers toasted to another fantastic year and went off to
enjoy lunch and the campground activities at Spring Lake.
Lastly, the kids choice awards and the activities were shared to the chapter the next day
at the monthly meeting by the Grade Group Chairs.
