HALYCON TRIAL-ALUMINI Aditya Shankar
Seven years of education from an institution, I can say that my experience in
school has been nothing less than phenomenal. It is really a pleasure to be
writing this piece as it forces me to recollect the thoughts and memories that I
have made within the four walls and the hallowed halls of our school. The
repository of knowledge is never empty at NPS Yeshwanthpur. In exceptional
and unprecedented times, teachers rose to the challenge of online teaching. They
took extraordinary efforts to disseminate the required knowledge.
For me, school life would always be about the moments I spent with friends,
lunchtime conversations, directing the performances for class assemblies and
teacher's day, light-hearted discussions with teachers, and thriving in the value
system established by the school. It is rightly said that "Sometimes you never
know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory." Now, only my
subconscious serves as a dossier on the moments.
Six years ago, I had come to the Bengaluru, the IT hub of India with
hopes of making new friends starting a new chapter of my life. I had
joined NPS, Yeshwanthpur because of its reputation and this NPS
journey has been memorable. Year 2020 will always be the most
memorable one for me as it was my final year in this school and also
for the first time ever the concept of online classes was introduced. It
was a commendable effort by our teachers to adapt so quickly and try
their best to make online classes interesting. From being a science
enthusiast in 7th grade to a Jee aspirant in 11th and finally one who is
Ayushmaan Srivastava going to pursue engineering, the motto of our school was truly
followed Reach out, Reach high and Reach beyond. At last, I would
like to say to all the future students to always remember their hard
work and efforts they put in for their dream and not the result:sky is
the limit .
When I joined NPS Yeshwanthpur, I was a class 6 student and the 7 years in school is
extremely memorable. My journey here is filled with sweet and happy moments. The teachers
have always been supportive and have guided me in all possible ways. They were motivating
and encouraged us to give our best in any activity that we undertook. I have made amazing
friends and the peer group included people with different talents. Every single cultural
programme, the interschool competitions, field trips ,educational tours and the varied
opportunities to pursue our hobbies helped me discover and relate to my creative side. I have
Riya Maheshworked towards my dreams and aspirations all these years and will continue doing the same in
future. I have spent valuable years of my life here and the school has provided the right
platform for me in all aspects.
When I joined the school, it was fairly new,
So I made a lot of memories as together we grew,
The last-minute scrambling to write our daily formula sheet,
The happiness I'd get when all my friends I'd meet,
Those times that I'd ask to fill my water bottle and then,
Instead of refilling just one, I'd end up filling ten!
The computer lab was great, and there were things like,
Getting rewarded for good work with games of Counter-Strike,
In our final year, we had stay backs galore,
But the teachers made them fun, so they never felt like a chore.
Let's face it - we've all been in the defaulter line at least one time,
Unpolished shoes, uncut nails, untidy hair - no matter our crime,
From pleading to begging - we went through all the stages,
To try and convince ma'am to spare the yellow pages!
The sheer amount of holiday homework would leave anyone in shock,
And we'd spend our days searching for Educational YouTube Gurus to stalk, Poorvi Kunja
And before you know it, the work which for you was sent,
Closer to the deadline, becomes a family event!
My favourite time of the year was during practice for Annual Day,
All the years mixed together, making new friends along the way,
There was excitement in the air, and it wasn't just me and you,
The cheer and enthusiasm had spread to teachers too!
TheTsehmeseemaroeritehsewthililnsgtsaythwaitthI wmiellffoorregveetArnaesnvdesreo, veorn. as I entered the school premises, the PE teacher asked me to
walk on the yellow line, and I was so perplexed that I just stood there
for a minute until she showed me the line. This was the beginning of my
Arpita Guha Neogi journey in NPS. Although I was in NPS for just 2 years, my experience
in the institution has been diverse. Initially, I did not understand the
point of going to the pavement to have lunch, when we could have it in
class. Looking back, I realise that that is where I made most of my
friends. Sitting in a big circle and sharing our lunches, while talking
about random things, was literally the highlight of our day. Our
farewell and graduation day were some of the most memorable days of
my school life.
So to all of my juniors out there, I would like to say that, you just don’t
know it yet, but your time in NPS is one of the happiest times of your life.
You will make friends for life and I am sure that you can go back to any of
the teachers and they will be right there, happy to help you. So enjoy this
while you can because you are going to miss it terribly later.
A Look Back...
As we walked into the gates on the first day of school, we began to build an
indelible bond with the new school, teachers and new friends that we were about
to make. The memories of my first day at school are still vivid. From morning
school assembly, prayer, routine classes to school events and festivals, we have
made memories all the way through. The fun we had during rehearsals for
Annual Day and other celebrations, the fights in classrooms, the mischief during
lunch breaks, the hard work we put in during exams, little chat we had with
teachers about their school life, group discussions and projects were all part of
the chapter we never wanted to end. I have had great learning experience, built
the confidence and motivation I needed for life under the company of best
teachers and friends. NPS gave me the freedom to explore my strengths and Pooja.S
gather the courage to build myself in the best possible manner. Being the first
batch, we grew up with the school. I am satisfied that we gave our best to live up
to the expectations. 5 years now feels like a flash of exceptional memories.
