TM

Mission Statement — As Brothers of the Knights of St. Columba we are resolved through our own efforts,
prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit to increase the membership of our Order so that we can more
effectively work for Christ’s Kingdom.

ACTION THROUGH PRAYER TM

This year it was decided that there would be no National Action
Project. So instead we are carrying out a spiritual exercise in
conjunction with S.P.U.C.
We have had discussions with them and came up with the idea of
saying the Rosary once a month in front of the Blessed
Sacrament.

“Rosary for the Unborn”

We also agreed that there would be a
special intention for each month, with
Rosary Prayer cards provided.
There have been 500,000 prayer cards
printed and distributed between the
Knights of St Columba and S.P.U.C.
I believe this is the biggest campaign
that S.P.U.C. have been involved in for
45 years.
The campaign was launched in
December 2018 by the Supreme Knight
and the Director of S.P.U.C. John
Smeaton on the Feast of Our Lady of
Guadalupe.
At the beginning of Lent the Supreme
Knight sent out this message.

“With Lent being upon us, I ask all
Knights, not to just give up
something for Lent but to also take
on something which is very
important in these current times. I
implore you all to pray a decade of
the Rosary for the Unborn each day during Lent and to
especially pray the intentions for March and April. Together
we can raise awareness of the need for us all to uphold the
sanctity of human life from conception to a natural death. We
are joining together with SPUC our Pro-Life partners in this
campaign in promoting the Holy Rosary for this cause.”
Brothers all around the country have been taking part in this
wonderful initiative

Bro Harry Welsh (Supreme Director for Action & Social)
