Israel Scientists see test results that
could lead to one-time cure for HIV

Researchers at Tel Aviv University have
published encouraging test results of a
procedure that could lead to a one-time
treatment for patients with HIV.
The study was led by Adi Barzel, Ph.D., and
Ph.D. student Alessio Nehmad of the school
of neurobiology, biochemistry and
biophysics at the George S. Wise Faculty of
Life Sciences and the Dotan Center for Advanced Therapies, in collaboration with Tel
Aviv’s Sourasky Medical Center, and additional researchers in Israel and the United
States.
The treatment involves the use of the CRISPR system to cut and edit the genetics of
white blood cells to create type-B white blood cells that are responsible for
generating antibodies against viruses.
The CRISPR system is used to locate viral sequences and cut them to disable them, in
this case, genetically engineering type-B blood cells inside a patient’s body to secrete
neutralizing antibodies against the HIV virus.
“Until now, only a few scientists—we among them—had been able to engineer B cells
outside of the body. And in this study, we were the first to do this in the body and
make these cells generate desired antibodies,” said Barzel in a news release. “The
genetic engineering is done with viral carriers derived from viruses that were
engineered so as not to cause damage but only to bring the gene coding for the
antibody into the B cells in the body.”
“Additionally, in this case, we have been able to accurately introduce the antibodies
into a desired site in the B cell genome,” he continued. “All model animals who had
been administered the treatment responded and had high quantities of the desired
antibody in their blood. We produced the antibody from the blood and made sure it
was actually effective in neutralizing the HIV virus in the lab dish.”
The study was published in the science journal, Nature, and is a potential long-
sought-after solution to curing HIV. In the past decade, the lives of many AIDS
patients have improved, changing the disease from lethal to chronic.
According to Barzel, based on the study, researchers expect that over the coming
years, they would be able to use the method to produce medication for AIDS and
other infectious diseases, including certain types of cancer caused by a virus such as
cervical, neck and head cancer.

Why a Northern California gas station is charging nearly $10 a gallon

MENDOCINO, Calif. - Gas prices at one Northern California gas station
are getting very close to $10 a gallon.
A Chevron station in Mendocino was charging $9.63 this week for a
gallon of regular gas.
Aldo Vazquez, who works at AAA Northern California, says it costs more
to bring gas to this rural area, so that company has to charge more to
stay in business.
"When you factor in transportation costs, the proximity to pipelines,
those can also add up to the price of gasoline," Vaszquez said on
Monday. "That’s why we always recommend doing your research
because if you can find a different route, you may end up in an area with
cheaper prices."

IRS is mailing millions of letters and here's why you need to open them

Keep a close eye on the mail you receive over the next month, and don't throw out
anything from the IRS by force of habit.
The IRS will be mailing millions of CP14 letters to people who they believe have
underpaid them, and not acknowledging the letter could result in financial penalties,
Jackson Hewitt chief tax information officer Mark Steber told CBS News.
CP14 letters are sent to people if the IRS determines the individual has a balance of
more than $5 on their account. A remaining balance could be caused by failing to
pay their balance in full or not reporting an amount of income.
"The notice advises the taxpayer that there is a tax due, states the amount of tax,
including interest and penalties, and requests payment within 21 days," according to
the Taxpayer Advocate Service. "If the taxpayer does not pay the amount due within
60 days, the IRS can proceed with collection activity, including the filing of a Notice
of Federal Tax Lien."
The IRS explained the situation on their website and answered a number of
questions regarding the CP14 letter. One of the main questions was: "Am I charged
interest on money I owe?"

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me

I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Marvelous are Your works, and I know this
very well. My frame was not hidden from You

15 Hairstyles for Black Women Over 50

When it comes to black hairstyles, I am so impressed with the multitude of hair
textures and the many styles you can pull off because of it. From coyly and curly to
straight, whether natural or relaxed, Black women have always been able to rock some
of the most ingenious styles, which makes them envied by many and copied
throughout time.

Does the fun of hair styling end for Black women over 50? Not at all! Check out these
15 hairstyles for black gray hair for an ultimate proof.

#1: High Bun

A top bun is easy and classic, and it’s really simple to do.
Pull your hair to the top of your head, twist it, then pin it
down with hairpins. Add a few spritz of hairspray to help
with the flyaway.

#2: Soft Waves with a Snap Pin
To get this style, I shampooed and conditioned my hair.
Then, I plaited it and let it air dry to get soft flowy waves.
Then, I used a big pin to create a beautiful neat look.

#3: Elegant Updo for Black Women over 50
A top bun is easy and classic, and it’s really simple to do.

Culture, quand tu nous tiens ! Un grand jour se lève pour toi, tu claironnes;
Te prépares à surmonter des épreuves majeures,
Soumets héroïquement au repos, tes organes fatigués;
Les prives de nourriture et leurs procures une accalmie;

Tu n’as jamais faim, ta diète liquide t’alimente sans cesse,

Leur propre chair se faire rogner pour survivre;
Le fiel de leur estomac remonté dans la gorge, la bouche.
L’haleine acre léthale tuant les oiseaux à la ronde;
Lesquels gibiers encore chauds, ils dévorent tels des forcenés.
