UMK International
It’s crazy how fast time flies and how things progress in international office. The third
quarter of the year saw how UMKI team bulldozed through with tremendous effort to
activate international student mobility programmes (credit and non-credit) at both
faculty and university levels. Student mobility programs are essential to enhance
the learning experience of students as they are expose to the cultural, economic,
political, educational and ecological aspects of other countries. This experience is
crucial to develop students’ global mindsets for career advancement and success in any
environment.
Between July and September 2022, UMK International has overseen numerous physical
and virtual mobility programs, as well as courtesy visits between UMK and partner
universities from China, Thailand, India and Indonesia. In addition, we also have the
privilege to receive a courtesy call from the ambassador
of Palestine in Malaysia. Potential academic and
non-academic collaborations were discussed during
all the meets.
Let’s hope that these intercultural exposures will
boost students’ ability to interact without
prejudice with people from other cultures
and adapt to different cultural environments!

Ihadimaginedmanytimes,howwouldmyuniversity,
UMK look like. When I first time came here, I
found that my feelings were very complicated,
a bit nervous, a bit excited, and more anticipation,
looking forward to visit everywhere in the campus.
I am amazed to find my inner peace here after
experiencing many ups and downs in my life.
Egrets flying in the sky, lotus flowers blooming quietly in the pond, the dappled
shadows of trees in the hazy rain, the pavilion in the grass, the reflection of the
school building in the lake, at this time, you will be convinced that you are far
away from the worldly hustle and bustle.
Maybe we have never come, maybe we have never left, maybe the place you
belong to will be inseparable in the end, across thousands of kilometers, we still
meet, everything is fate’s arrangement.
UMK is a young and energetic school with unlimited potential, and I am
honoured to be a witness and participant in its future development. I would like
to thank all the leaders and teachers of the school for their care and help, and my
supervisor for their guidance. I wish the school better and better, and all the
students to complete their studies.

I am from Guangzhou, China. My
family and I came to Malaysia every year
before 2022 until the pandemic broke out. We are
really fond of the culture and scenery here.
Kelantan left me a wonderful impression:
the beach, the sunshine, the blue sky and
pureclouds,whichIcanrarelysenseinGuangzhou.
This is a new starting point of my learning career, also the beginning of the trip
to realise my dream.
Although only a few months have passed since the school opened, I have been
immersed in the academic atmosphere of UMK. Every month, Dr. Julia shares
online lectures and international day activities with us, which make me
feel like taking real lessons in the campus and enjoying the fun of studying
abroad. My tutor, Dr. Awin, wished me to recover from illness by sending me two
emails successively after knowing that I fell ill. I was very moved about this.
All that I have mentioned above enable me to feel the warmth of the UMK big
family. I believe the learning period in the future will be extremely unforgettable
throughout the rest of my lifetime.
