LPS CULTURAL FEST (2018-19)
Grade I to XII

06th September 2018 – Gr.V to XII (Boys) – Dance & Music Competitions
06th September 2018 – Gr.V to XII (Girls) – Art Competition
13th September 2018 – Gr.V to XII (Girls) – Dance & Music Competitions
13th September 2018 – Gr.V to XII (Boys) – Art Competition
14th November 2018 – Gr.I to IV – Dance, Music & Fancy Dress Competitions
15th November 2018 – Gr. I to IV – Art Competition

General Instructions

 There are 4 categories for Dance, Music & Art i.e. Sub Junior, Junior, Sub
Senior & Senior.

 Online registration of Cultural Fest shall begin on 22nd April and close on 30th
April 2018.

 Screening of the participants shall be completed by the House-In-charges by
15th May 2018.

 Final list of participants shall be submitted online by the House-In-charges on
24th June 2018.

 Grade X and XII is allowed to participate ONLY in individual items.

DANCE

Individual Items:
 4 Students from each House, for each item.
 The duration shall be 5 minutes for each participant.
 Total number of participants shall be 16.
 There is no selection for Classical Dance.
 The duration shall be 8 minutes for each participant (Only for Girls).

Group Items:
 Group from each House, in each category (Western Dance & Cinematic
Dance).
 Duration shall be 7 minutes for each group.
 Total number of participating groups shall be 8.

MUSIC
Individual Items:

 4 Students from each House for each item (Instrumental & Light Music).
 Duration will be 5 minutes for each participant.
 Total number of participants shall be 16.

Group Items:
 1 Group from each House (Light Music).
 The duration will be 5 minutes for each group.
 Total number of participating groups shall be 4.
 There is no selection for Classical Music (Hindustani & Carnatic Music)
 Duration shall be 5 minutes for each participant.

ART & FANCY DRESS
 There is no selection for individual Art Competition.
 Duration will be 3 hours.
 For Group items (Art Competition) 2 groups from each House shall participate.
 Total number of participating groups will be 8.
 The duration of the competition will be 3 Hours.
 There shall be no selection for Fancy Dress Competition.
 The duration shall be 2 minutes for each participant including dialogue.

GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

MUSIC

 For Light Music Competition No film songs or Regional songs are allowed.
 The lyrics of the songs should not have any indecent meaning.
 The participants of group song should submit the karaoke in Mp3 format at least

two days before to the Music Dept.
 For the instrumental solo the participants should bring their own instruments.

Instruments will not be provided from school at any point.
 Each participant should keep the proper time limit as given above.
 Actions or body movements on the stage will not be counted as points for the

competition.
 Judgement is based on the criteria such as Expression, Melody, Rhythm and

Overall Performance.
 Students should be in proper school uniform.

 A back up audio file should also be brought in a USB on the day of the event
 All MUSIC competitions will be separate for boys and girls.
 Competitions are house based and hence the decisions of selection process will be

vested with the House Master/House Mistress. MUSIC teachers will not be
involved in any selection process.
 Only 1 entry will be accepted from each house for group events.
 Replacement of contestants in any group events should be intimated well in
advance. If not, he/she will not be included in.(1day before)
 The events presented by the contestants must be totally free of any political or
religious undertones.
 If contestants are not available at the venue even after third call, the organizers
will have the right to cancel his/her participation.
 All students are instructed to adhere to the rules and regulations given above
and any kind of indiscipline action will not be entertained.
 JUDGES decision will be final. Students are not allowed to interact with the
judges at any point.
 Overall coordination will be done by music teachers.

DANCE
General instructions

 A student can register the name for 5 items excluding Art but the House In
charges will select for any 3 items according to the time slot. It can be either 3
dance items or 3 musical items or mixed. But for Art each student can
participate only for 1 item.

 All the individual items, practices should be done outside the school campus.
For group items, if the practice is required in the school, the stay back shall be
arranged on Thursday afternoon. If it is so, transport requirement shall be
collected by the house in charge and to be submitted to the Transport in charge
with the knowledge of SLT at least one week before. ONLY 2 THURSDAYS WILL
BE GIVEN

RULES AND REGULATIONS
 All dance competitions shall be separate for boys and girls.
 Competitions are house based and hence the decisions of selection process shall

be vested with the House Master / House Mistress. Dance Teachers will not be
involved in any selection process.

 Classical Dance contestants shall strictly adhere to the following:

 Costumes shall be strictly according to the style.
 Songs shall be purely classical. (Movie Songs or Remix Songs are NOT allowed)
 Cinematic Dance – Only Movie Song / Music are allowed.
 Western Dance – Only Western Song / Music are allowed.
 All sound tracks must be STRICTLY radio edited / censored.
 Exceeding the allotted time period will lead to negative marking.
 The music or track for the show must be submitted in MP3 format ONLY
 A back up audio file shall also be bought in a USB on the day of the event.
 Costumes designed shall be in accordance with the cultural Values of the

country.
 A category shall be cancelled, if there are less than 3 entries.
 Minimum number of participants in a group item shall be 6 and shall not

exceed 10.
 Judging criteria – Creativity, Energy, Flow, Coordination, Expression, Skills &

Techniques, Music & Costumes.

 Use of dangerous props (fire, glass etc.) shall not be allowed.

 Participants are expected to clean up the stage themselves at the end of their
performance, so as to leave the stage ready for the next performance.

 Group events – only ONE group [each for boys and girls] is allowed in an event
from a house. The group shall not exceed more than 10 students for any entry.

 The contestants are not allowed to take part in any event without registration.

 Only 1 entry shall be accepted from each House, for group events.

ART COMPETITION
RULES & REGULATIONS

 Students have to bring their own materials.
 Drawing paper will be provided.
 Students can participate only in one item.
 Maximum 5 & minimum 3 students can participate in a group activity.
 Duration of the competition will be 3 hrs.
 Short Puppet shows can be organized.
 Origami work will be in composition.
 5 to 6 different Origami work should be displayed in all categories.
 Pictures will be displayed to see & draw.
 Hazardous products like spray paint will not be allowed.(Only for Gr.5-12)
 Colours should be child friendly.

RULES
 The costume shall be with waste or recycled materials.
 2 minutes shall be given to each participant for dialogue.
 Students shall dress up from home.
 There is no screening for Fancy Dress Competition.
