Week 1 Understanding Motion Our first week assignment is to create a pose to pose anticipation movement. It trains how i think about the breakdown will be between the keys. A single breakdown can influence how a subject will move next, it creates a story and anticipation. A breakdown help make animations feel more natural and realistic. Yet, rules can be broken, especially if we want to emphasize on something, like the speed of the movement or the phyisicality of the character. It helps create personalities. This are some of my favorite works. The action shows impact and some shows exegeration. I need to be more brave to create a more expresive line of action. The lecture also note to add more lines to show speed in a a movement. I personally used this exercise to practice digital line art. I have not touch digital line art in so long because i grow to hate it. But, as time pass by, and seeing my friends who has a good hand in digital line art, it encourage me to try again. Week 2 Understanding Motion Animation Breakdown Exercise in this exercise, we are told to make an change in expression in animation. The previous exercise helped me with how I strategize what expression they would make before reaching the end expression. It is important to have a good build up before reaching the end, so it feels realistic and add impact for the viewers to see. My first attemps, i didn’t think about making it an animation. It was more a test run for me. The added shaded helped highlight the category. Blue shaded is the keyframes, the red shaded is the breakdown, and the green shaded is the second breakdown or inbetween. Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023


Week 3 Understanding Motion Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 Animation Lip Sync Exercise The animation lip sync started with blocking. I didn’t use the excel sheet tom properly put the mouth movement, rather, I follow the timing after putting the subtitiles in the audio. After putting the subtitles, i draw the mouth and how the character will say it. I feel like humans expressed themselves by using their hands. With the audio, i want the character to be teaching it to someone. But he is still unsure how to teach it. I added an expresssion of doubt. After that, the hardest part is to figure out how the transition will be like. I added smears in some area to help with the timing i set. My difficulties with the animation, was when i did the in-betweens. The inbetween has to make sense in terms of timing, and speed of the movemnet.


Week 4 Understanding Motion Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 Animation Walk Cycle Exercise The animation walk cycl was intimidating at first. I put this in the back of my mind for years because of how i tried multiple times and failed so badly. Then, I commited to myself, that I will improve my drawing skill to the point animating is going to be easy and i don’t have to think twice about the anatomy. The animation started with a proper character design turnaround. Then, for the walk, i block all of the key poses. Following Richard Williams book, I was able to capture the right timing for the walk. I also addded another element to spice up the animation, so the walk doesn’t look so boring and plain. With added smear and exaggerated movements, it looks more cartoony and playful and show the characteristic.


Week 5 - 6 Understanding Motion Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 Animation Jump Exercise The jump animation was so annoying. After consultation, i was told that the jump has little anticipation and it looks stiff. The animation was difficult at first because i was mainly using my immagination for the most part. I think that is the reason why it was so complicated to get it right. After removing some frames, I think it’s better then the previous iterations. The jump started with a run, and with an exegerated pose before the jump, it looks bouncy enough to compensate the height of the jump.

Week 1 Crafting of Skills Illustrator Self-Portrait Our first exercise for this class is a self portrait using Adobe Illustrator. This exercise help me brush up my AI skills. I challange my self to try and find my potential style while using this app. This time, I experimented using gradients and the brush tool. Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023


Week 1 Crafting of Skills Process & Sketch Before I proceed to the app, first I made a skecth in Procreate. I keep it simple and make the lines clear enough so i won’t get confused later. But, I made a mistake by not removing the background from the skecth. It made picking colors more difficult. I wanted to have a story in my portrait. I wanted to add lines to show I’m detiriorating. But, I was unable to find how to make the effect. So, I decided and alternative by adding purple lines that looks like it’s 3D. Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023


Week 2 Crafting of Skills I decide to go with a postapocalyptic world where human creations are destroyed by God and his army of angels. The eye was inspired by the biblically accurate angel. The view remaining human surviving through this world is task to hunt down the eyes and secure victory for humanity. Title: God was Here Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 I started with a skecth first. The building was going to be arranged as a frame for the eye, making the illuminati, and the eye looking forward. The characters would we silhoutte in the foreground and pose like their hunting.

Week 2 Crafting of Skills Case Study for Zine Proposal My Social Issue is Education My Topic: “Teenage Pregnancy caused by the lack of sex education in Indonesia” The reason why I choose to make an artbook: In the past, I’m always intrigued with artbooks from animated tv shows or movies. It’s very difficult to get this artbook back in my home country. But, I always save images that people post from the artbook. Artbook, for me, helps inspire people who reads it. I want my artbook to be inspiration for others. It can also act as a physical documentation of your idea process. And since last semester, I always wanted to create my own artbook. With the content for the animation, I feel that an artbook would provide context of my ideating process. 1. Legend of Korra: The Art of The Animation The Legend of Korra is an American animated tv show that serve as a sequel to the previous series, Avatar: The Last Airbender. The series aired from 2005 to 2008. The book consists of content from their first season. The book has the characters first draft, sketches, develompment of design and character, background art, and some storyboards from the show. They display early development of characters and the process of getting the character to it’s final design. As well as exploration journey in her facial expressions. Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse: The Art of the Movie Spider-Man Across the SpiderVerse is an animated movie released in 2023 telling the story of Miles Morales and how he becomes spider man in his universe. I choose this book because i like the movie so much and of course, I like their art. They presented character development and design accompanied with text for the character main story. It also has more concept, raw drawings/sketches rather than Legend of Korra. They filled this book with storyboards and color storyboards. They presented concept art from the movie’s main strength, colors. I want content for my artbook to have sketches or first draft of the animation. It shows progress and behind the scene. It also shows progress as well as how I process my work for the production. Sequence from Animation Items and Symbols Items and symbol can represent or highlight the character’s personality. It feels like easter eggs after watching the movie. It shows how much effort the people put into details of characters. Even though the viewer won’t notice, but without it, the characters would not be the same.


Week 2 Crafting of Skills 3. Cowboy Bebop: The After Cowboy Bebop is a Japanese neo-noir space Western anime television series which aired on TV Tokyo and Wowow from 1998 to 1999. I choose this book because the composition is very interesting. They use different ways to arrange the page. Also, some pages feel bold. It has more written content because they explore the music production as well as other transmedia, they had at that time. The art for the characters feels like chaotic, but there is a subtle flow by how they arrange the characters. And with this type of arrangement, readers tend to stay on the page much longer. Week 3 Crafting of Skills Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 Character Exploration Imagining the Story After the story is confirmed, I started to gather some images to create the mood for my animation. I really fond of the red and green contrast, to show horror, even though my story is not really a horror movie, I want to give the animation feels uncomfortable. The feeling of impending doom will slowly and garadually shown from the start to the end. Also, using red is like terrorizing with the green. At the begining it will feel calm, but it will slowly turn into terror.


Week 4 Crafting of Skills Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 Character exploration: Ratna Character exploration: Aldhi She has a quiet personality, but a kind emphatatic heart. Her father is a office worker, her mother is a catering manager. Her obstables are facing the unwanted pregnancy, losing her friends in the process, her boyfirend ghosting her, dropping out of school, her parents disappointment that will lead to her mental breakdown. Ratna is the protagonist of the narrative. She is a second year in senior high school and has been dating Aldhi for 5 months. She was suprised when Aldhi asked her out on a date. She is quite smart in her academics and naive. The character personality, her naiveness, will prevent her to getting help after being manipulated to not tell anyone about it by her boyfriend. Her quiteness will eventually prevent her to speak out. At the end, the character will come out of her shell and speaks out about the importance of sex education of youths and to prevent anything that happened to her happen to anyone else. Aldhi is the antagonist of my story. He is a senior, famous for being a striker in the school’s football team. He has a laidback, playboy personality, yet he is manipulative and egoistic. The character decided to try it with Ratna without protection, unknowingly. When he found out that Ratna was assumed pregnant, he told her to keep quiet. After Ratna got bullied and ostracized by her peers and classmate, he went quiet and doesn’t do anything to protect her. When asked, he denied it and told the school that he broke up with her during the break. At the zine, he will be shown as Ratna ghost of the past that haunts her duirng her journey of healing and reflection.


Week 4 Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 I want the zine to display the horror depicted using the ocean to represent the unknown, the apple to represent the fruit/baby, her empty stomach craking to her heart to show how heart wrenching the pregnancy was for her, physically and mentaly, and the golden roots to show the potential wings / uncertainty to her life journey. This posibbly will be the first page of the journal. A 1 page spread of sort of abstract painting that depicts beauty and horror. This picture is one of the first character exploration I did. I wasn’t really going crazy in the character design, because they will all wear the same uniform. I’ll add different variants of how they wear the uniform, to show personality of the characters. So, instead I want to use lighting to depict Ratna’s perspective of things. When things gets tense or scary, the lighting will be a tense green along with a contrast red to make the viewer feel earie. While exploring the color lighting green and red, I use the opportunity to signify the insults in Ratna’s uniform. The insults will be in bahasa Indonesia, but the meaning will be essentially the same. The character will be stamp as a slut. Using red, it helps to show how horrifying the experience is. She is seen as impatient, and be percieve, by the supportive characters, as the one who use Aldhi to be famous and for pleasure outside of marriage.


Week 5 Crafting of Skills This week, we held individual consultation with our lecturer. He gave me feedback to the work in progress for character designs/explorations, A2 Presentation board, our zine layout and the whole concept that we are going to use for the narrative and zine. After consultation, I was suggested to fix Ratna’s expression. It was causing confussion and it was said that she is almost expressionless. It was the similar feedback that I have recieved from my peers. The lighting can be the thing that distinguish my visuals from others. I wanted to capture the eroticness and horror that is about to come. Consultation Week I was also told to not hold back on nudity in my concept. Even though I don’t want anything very explicit on the screen, I wanted to show the human body as it is. I was honestly worried that it would innapropriate. But, Dan told me if my purpose is to educate and there’s meaning to putting nudity as part of my visual, then I should go for it. After consultation, I also feel more confident in my concept, “The Forbidden Fruit”. It was an eye opener that it could confidently imply it to my story as it is going to be a form of metaphor for the characters journey. Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023


Week 5 Crafting of Skills The Concept Art Zine Layout For my concept art zine, I was suggested to slip some infographic in it, while trying to keep the visuals consistent and align with others so it doesn’t feel like a shock for the readers. My concept art book, is well, concepts. I’m planning to go deeper and deepr with the metaphor while maintaining the narrative. Ratna’s journey after she dropped out looks like the 5 stage of grieve. There will be pages just showing how she has so much hate towards Aldhi and herself. How she mentally fell and eventually grow out of it. How she will learn to love herself again and love her child. A letter of appology to her future child and herself. And of course, the infographics that lack of sex education caused. Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts


Week 6 Crafting of Skills Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 Zine Layout The layout, I set out to get the color scheme. From a very dark , extreme red color to a calming peaceful color, to show hope. The color scheme will be an important part of the zine. And i feel like the layout need more work, because the arrangement still feel random. With the mix of infographics, i’m worried it will be to sudden of a change to the viewer.

Week 1 Creating Content Issue: Teen pregnancy/ pregnancy outside of marriage caused by the lack of sex education in Indonesia For the fisrt week, I explore what topic i choose for the animation. From the 17 UN Goals, I picked quality education. At fisrt, I discuss with my friends that i wanted to do a unequall distribution of education in Indonesia. But, it feels to broad and quite a complicated topic. So, I narrowed it down to how sex education is lacking in Indonesia. After confirming it with the teacher, the “issue” is not really an issue, It’s a solution. So, after some research, I finally established my topic which is “Teen Preganancy caused by the Lack of Sex Education in Indonesia”. The Trigger First hand experience from my school from primary to secondary school, the lack of specific discussion towards this topic has been concerning. I was very lucky to have learned some aspect from this topic, but most student at my age learned it from other ways, such as pornography, which can lead to negative outcomes. The subject is important as it can effect the young generation’s choices and it can reduce the negative outcome from the lack of sex education. There’s also a lot of news of young pregnancies in high school and a lot of netizen agrees that the lack of sex education is the reason. From discussions with my highschool friends and peers who are undergraduates. They have similar experience in term of receiving sex education from school. The last time we got it was 13 years old. Week 1 Creating Content and menstruation. We remembered that we were seperated form the boys. From the boys side, they were taught about the same thing as well. We know STIs when we are in senior high school in a science class but didn’t go further detail. We felt like we were robbed of that education, because one of my friends were taught differently. She went to a internationa school and quite prestigious too. She went on to tell me that she receive that education much earlier, when she was in 6th grade. She mentioned that her shcool brought an expert in the topic and went into detail not just the matter of reproduction and organs, but STIs, contraceptions and, especially, I thought it was a genius way to convey it, a look a different perspective such as science and religion. With Indonesia being a religious country, it should be fair to explain sex education from a religion lense. She mention somthing very profound that stuck to me, that is, with the growth of technology and how nowwadays kids are stuck with their phone since young, they know more how to easily access information on the internet. She said, “With that in mind, shouldn’t educators be faster in giving that education before they try finding out by themselves? that is why I think now, they should give it to them much on a much younger age.” I also interviewed my parents, and they mention some insights that are interesting to me. First, I aksed, why they think sex education is still taboo. They said that it is the culture in Indonesia and the people in charge think about the topic. The culture see sex and sex education as a western culture, and Indonesia, being in the east. It is unfortunate. My mom emphatized with teenagers who are being married off because they got pregnant. They lost their youth. When asked about how parents should be involved in teaching sex education, they are in agreement. Even though, I was more comfortable aksing them this type of topics when i was 17, my mother mention, that the previous generation, my grandfather and my grandmother, weren’t taught about it, therefore, they couldn’t teach their children and their children after them (me). The Goal: To bring awareness to the rise of teen pregnancy in Indonesia and the importance of sex education The Obstacle • The topic of sex is taboo. The topic itself is still hard to discuss because of the culture surrounding us. Religions and beliefs can influence how people discuss topics such as teenage pregnancy or sex education. • The government easily gives out marriage dispensation for girls who got pregnant outside of marriage. It was meant for protection against judgement from others as well as avoiding the sin of adultery. • The lack of involvement by the parents. Parents relies on school to teach sex ed. But this topic is very hard to be discuss in the first place. It is difficult for the parent to explain, they’ll be very shy and embarrassed. • School doesn’t provide the same standard of sex education. Teachers can be unfit to teach about this topic. The way they are conveying it could affect how the student interpret it. Schools can also be involved in influencing what they teach and won’t teach. Week 2 Creating Content The Research The Irony Marriage for pregnant teens are allowed by law to avoid the sin of adultery. They’re (the law) allowing marriage for pregnant women rather than applying proper sex education with the right experts and resources in schools. Marriage dispensation shouldn’t be the solution. There are a lot of hoax and misconceptions spread around. Parents are rarely involved in discussion such as sex and marriage. (turn a blind eye). The reason is because our parents also didn’t receive proper sex education. Parents should be educated as well as the children. To prevent their children to find out by themselves since technology is developed and children has been attached to their phone since young. We have to be faster before they try to find out by themselves. Discussion between parents and children can be awkward for both parties. They can feel embarrassed even though this type of education is very important. There are also still an ideology from traditional parents that marriage can solve everything, the reason is, marriage means giving the problem to another person to solve, which is their partner. It feels like an endless cycle, cause my grandparents generation never taught my parents, therefore, when the time came for them to answer us, they don’t know how to explain in a proper manner. A Human Right Approaching sex education as a human right delve further into discussion and insight in delivery + design of sex education programs. It can be a tool to dismantle cultural norms on gender, sexual orientation, and sexual diversity Can be a holistic strategy for gender based violence. They have the right of knowledge on safe and healthy relationship. If unprevented, they most likely to have abortions, that is mostly illegal in Indonesia. Using abortions pills is a safer way for abortion. but it will be counted as murder. And because of the lack of sex-ed, they don’t know where to access it. Outcomes of teenage/unwanted pregnancies Mortality in childbirth from mothers age under 20 y/o is higher compared to mothers aged 20 - 39 y/o. - Risk of premature birth - Risk of having labor bleeding - Risk the lives of the mother and the child Problems for children who are born to teen mothers: - Risk of low birth weight - Have behavioral problems and chronic medial conditions - Have lower school achievement and detachment to education - Rely heavily on foster care placement. Teenage pregnancy could cause problem to the person such as: - Unpreparedness to take care of the baby (financially, physically or mentally) - Can be deadly for the mother and the kids. - Abnormalities for the babies - Discrimination towards the child - Increase in divorce rates from early marriage: - Since it’s forced. - Increase in domestic violence caused by an argument - Affecting their mental health as a mother Aspects of Mental health: - Baby blues: experiencing mood swings - Depression - Postpartum depression - PTSD - Anxiety and panic attacks - Have higher rate of suicidal ideation. Aspect of Financial: - Medical care: covering medical care is difficult, especially if they don’t have any insurance to cover matters such as maternity care and postpartum care. - Childcare: it can be costly and mothers who works find difficulties in managing their income for herself and the baby. - Purchasing Baby Accessories: wipes, diapers, ointments, bottles, pacifiers, formula. - Family burden: if the mother is unable to provide, they will leave the burden on cost and money to their parents. Week 3 Creating Content The Stories Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 My stories went in different directions. I tried exploring on different perspective cause my topic can involved a lot of people, such as parents, teenagers, and teachers. So, I first go write a generic story about a girl getting pregnant, and went on a time loop while facing different consequences. The story unfortunately has no ending, so I tried a different approach. The second story explored more deep into what happen after the student founds out. And was forced to quit school. The ending wasn’t clear and the details weren’t conveyed. So, after consultation, the lecturer recomended me to explore other perspective, such as the teacher. And, I did exactly just that.


Week 3 Creating Content Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 The Teacher’s Perspective The teacher’s perspective explores more into the character’s reaction to the girl getting pregnant, the guilt, and the reality of the situation, when the girl has to be forced to drop out. The image was the sketch I had, imagining the situation where the teacher was forced to close his mouth by the principal about the pregnancy to keep the school reputation Once upon a time, there was a teacher who is teach in a highschool. He was excited to teach with his new class. He gets to know everyone. And during his classtime, he always calls out a couple, when they got to close. it’s classtime, he needs both to focus. Everyday, they sit next to each other, go to the canteen together and go home together. The teacher just happily look at them. It is nice to see them being young and happy. Oneday, the teacher was acompanying the girl was in the principal’s office. She was called by the principal after whispers spread about her pregnancy (shows whispers of her friends and peers when she is on her way to the principal’s office). She stays silent. But the principal needs answer. Because of it, the principal calls the girl’s parents. The parents argued in the office, blaming the boy and got into a physical altercation. So the principal called the boys parents and they entered a blaming game. (Note:Shows conflict from 2 families disagreeing and blaming eachother’s child). The teacher tries to stop them from fighting. The principal slam the table and stopped the arguing. She points out how blaming eachother won’t solve anything. The girl cried and tell the truth. And seing her cry, the boy finally admit his mistake. The principal has no choice, but to give the girl a drop out letter. He pulled out a black tape and cover the teacher, the girl and the boy’s mouth to shut them up. The girl leaves school, feeling ashamed, and shake the teacher’s hand one last time. Because of it, the teacher feels guilty. He comes to the student’s house to consult what he could do to help. The girl only ask one thing, that is, to prevent this from happening to other students. she feels hopeless for herself and has accepted her faith, but she has hope for others, not to be like that. The teacher was determined he collected and talk with other teachers and parents to convince them that they should add sex education at class. Until finally, the teacher feels guilty. He comes to the student’s house to consult what he could do to help. The girl only ask one thing, that is, to prevent this from happening to other students. she feels hopeless for herself and has accepted her faith, but she has hope for others, not to be like that. Week 3 Creating Content Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 A Ministry of Education Staff Perspective The story focuses on a MOE staff being sent to a rural area where education is as good as the city, and tells a story about how a village is marrying their young children because they got pregnant. After consultation, the story is said to be to complicated and bearing too much detail while straving away from the topic which is the importance of sex -ed Once upon a time, there was a staff that works under the minisitry in the capital city, Jakarta. Everyday, she is tasked to makes sure that citizen in indonesia recieve the same quality treatment in health, education, and facility. At the end of the day, she wrote a report to be sent back. Oneday, he was sent by her boss to go a village an island away from the capital city. She was told that the school hasn’t been check for quite a while and she will report back to her boss. She left Jakarta and flew to Sulawesi. She arrived to a village in the rural area. When she arrived, she was greeted by the headchief. She was told she can stay in the headchief guest room for the visit. Ariving at their house, she was greeted by the headchief’s son (15) and his wife (15). Because of it, she asked the headchief about it. he said that they have to be married or else the child would only be seen as a result of adultery. (A child of a sin). To be polite, she stopped asking questions. But then she heard a knock at the door. It was the headchief’s daughter-in-law. She asked to speak with her while her huband is out playing with his friends. She asked if she could help her to escape. She doesn’t like being married with him. The daughter in law told her all of her dreams that she has. she asked the girl if she wants to go back to her parents house. but the girl simply shaked her head, because her parents no longer accepts her. Because of it, she came up with an idea. She told the girl to hold on for a few days until she finished her visit. Until finally, at her last day of the visit, she told the girl to wait for her at the gate of the village. There she can escaped together. She said her thanks to the headchief, trying to keep a polite and straight face. And she quickly drives her car to the gate. Checking the surrounding, she looks out for the girl that promised to meet her there. From the thick forest, the girl comes out with her bag and behind her, she brought other girls from the village as well. Seeing that she wasn’t alone, she told all of them she is going to bring them somewhere safe. The girls shows gratitude. The truth is, she have no idea what to do. But, with her determination, she’ll protect them and find a way to solve this issue. She was appaled by how young they were. They were still wearing school uniforms.


Week 3 Creating Content Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 A Dystopian World Perspective The story focuses on a dystopian world where sex education is really taboo. It tells a story about two friends living in a world where topic relating to sex is forbidden to talked about openly. One of the friends got pregnant, and they struggle to find help. So, the other friend made a blog where people can discuss about it openly. That is how she finds the right help for her friend. The story was deemed to complicated, and a dystopian world feels unnecessary because we are currently living in a world where in some places sex educaiton is still looked as a taboo topic. Once upon a time, there was Anisa and Ima, lives in a dystopian world, where topic of sex is still taboo. They limit their information and shame people who had sex outside marriage. Everyday, they live innocently as they are told to turn a blind eye when they see their friends tries sexual activities in her school, being bullied off school or forced to cut school because of an unplanned pregnancy. Oneday, Ima became a victim after she got taken advantage by her boyfriend, panicked to Anisa, not knowing what’s going to happen to her. Because of it, seeing her in distraught, she asked people around to help her friend but instead people turn her down because they don’t know how to help or she is bringing up a topic where a child of her age shouldn’t be talking about it. Some people even blaming Ima for it, seeing her as impatient and naughty. Because of it, A decided to dedicate a blog that gives access to sex education in attempts to create a safe space for people to discuss it. The blog consist of a discussion forum that gain a lot of traction from young people, educators, and parents. Until finally, after gaining some traction, somebody in the discussion forum help her to figure out how to save her friend. She was told to take birth control pills by an anon user. She immediately buys her friend that pill. Ima feels more relieved after knowing what could have happened to her is prevented. Same story, Mother’s perspective Once upon a time, there was a mother, who lives with her only daughter Everyday, she is busy with her work, and a strict person when it comes to her daughter. One day, she found a blog that has been talked about around her peers at work, where people discuss about sex ed Because of that, she looks through the website and ridiculed the blog and the people there. As she was about to send her comment, she saw a name that reminds her of her daughter. Because of that, she read her message, asking about what would happen to her after having sexual intercourse. She was dissapointed seeing her daughter has to ask someone else Until finally, she decided to make an account to answer her question. After she went home, she talks with her daughter about it and opening a conversation.


Week 4 Creating Content Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 Adapting “The Forbidden Fruit” Concept What is “The Forbidden Fruit?” The forbidden fruit came from the bible, that represent knowledge. It is usually represented/intreperted as sex. The imagery is usually be interpreted as an apple. In the world building, everyone has an apple. The apple is eaten by the partner to show they are giving away their virginity, and then they returned it. Pregnancy is shown where roots started to grow inside the women’s stomach. It’ll grow in a circular motion. STI is shown in the apple, where the outside looks nice, but when you bit inside it, it is rotten. In the bible, the Apple that was given to Eve tells a story about temptation, desire and disobidience. While in greek mythology, the apple is usually associated with the goddes of love, Aphrodite, which represents fertility and sexuality. The apple itself can mean many things, such as redemption and restoration. It can represent knowledge and power that comes with dangerous consequencies. The apple can be applied in my narrative story through my characters joourney in the zine, where the symbolizm will be repeated again and again and it will show how the act of sex shouldn’t be seen as disobidience but as natural part of human.


Week 4 Creating Content Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 Once upon a time, there was a Ratna, a kind high school teenager, studying in public school, and who just found out that she was pregnant. Everyday, she regrets trusting her boyfriend after he convinced her to have sex with him. She felt ashamed and embarrassed of it. One day, people started to notice her pregnancy and she couldn’t hide it anymore. She was bullied by her peers and lost her friends cause of having sex before marriage. Her boyfriend started to distance himself from her, and she felt isolated and alone. Because of it, she can only reach out to her parents for help. She comes clean to her parents about the pregnancy. The parents was angry at first for being irresponsible. But, they admit not being responsible educating their own daughter about this matter. Because of it, she had no choice to dropped out to save money and keep the baby until she was born. Until finally, she gave birth to her baby, but her mental health takes a toll on her, leaving the baby not properly taken care off and be a burden to the parents. The story is similar with other renditions of the previous stories i made in the past. But, “The Forbidden Fruit” concept can be emphasize through this simple narative. Rather than showing it explicitly, it can be shown using a metaphor. Notes:


Week 5 Creating Content Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 Beatboards First Pass The beat board was requested by Marie to help her visualize the trailer. I made mine in one night, zero hour of sleep, and it was barely finish. This line of sequence won’t even be the finale. I’ve explained in the presentation that I would just show clips of events with a bit of narration from Ratna possibly. But, the beatboards does help me a bit to develop the final visualization in the animatic. In this journal, I have been honest with my thoughts about every single process and work, and I would like to keep it consistent. I am, in fact, don’t want to do the animatic, from the bottom of my heart. But, I couldn’t say no either. I guess making an animatic in one week will be the the tipping point for me. This week is mostly consultation. I was chosen to do a presentation, it was last minute, and i didn’t get to do the presentation because of time limits. But, I did get the feedback for my story. As well as it is for my game. The card game will be about healthy relationships that will help create conversations between friends about relationships and how to notice red flags.

Week 6 Creating Content Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 2023 Notes after consultation After consulting, I was informed that the nudity in the animatic was unnecessary. I was forgetting my audience and the point of my story. The lecturer suggested that I should change the scene into more implcations with using the fruits. With the scene prior, it would make sense that I’m trying to tell the viewer that they are having intercourse. Personally, I was too comfortable with the concept of nudity and using the naked body to show the rawness in the animation. I will remind myself not to go overboard next time.

- Sleeping is a privilege - Drinking is important/ alcohol, water, coffee, but most important water - Being happy with my work is like a Mr Beast challange - For Applications like adobe illustrator and Indesign, It’s like an “Enemys to Lovers” relationship, like you hate them, you argue with them, makes you upset, but then you learn to understand them, and by understanding them, that means you can learn to love them as well. -I have been told that I’m an ambitious person. That ambition will one day kill me, whether that it will kill my passion, my hopes and dreams, or worst of all, my body. I’m hoping that day wouldn’t come to me.
