The Wind Beneath His Wings

It is with great pride in her HELEN L. ROSS
accomplishme n ts and appreciation for
her many acts of kindness that the spare time, she still finds time to
class of 1993 dedicates this yearbook to devote to the many causes that are
Helen L. Ross. important to her. And, of course, she
is always there with a cheerful smile
At the University's Jubilee Ball In for her family and friends.

Mrs. Ross were honored by the Board Yet this quiet, generally soft-spoken
of Trustees as the recipients of the woman is also known on campus as
prestigious Boca Raton Award, Don "tell-it-as-it-is" Helen, for she is
referred to h is wife, Helen , as "his outspoken in defense of her principles
hidden strength" and "the wind and the people she loves, and
beneath his wings." Indeed, for those absolutely honest in her affection for
who know Helen Ross well, there are and dedication to Lynn University and
perhaps no better words to describe its students.
this special lady who is both the
quintessential wife and mother, as well
as the hard-working, successful
business woman.

Never one to confuse her priorities,
Helen Ross has been a major force in
her husband's career right from the
beginni ng, when in 1967, she and her
twenty-seven year old husband
founded Wilmington College in
Delaware. Working side by side from
dawn to dusk, they managed within a
few short years to build a strong
institution that rece ntly celebrated its
twenty-fifth anniversary.

When Dr. Ross came to Florida in
1971, Helen was right behind him -
this time with two young children,
Ellen and Kevin. It was Helen Ross
who organized the Potomac School and
it was Helen who started the very
successful Pine Tree Camps and still
oversees its operation today. In her

Donald E. Ross, President

"There is a time to let things happen and a time to make things happen."
(Hugh Prather)

OUf time to make things happen is now!

The signs of quality growth are all around us. The past year has been
one of excitement and promise as we pursue our goals for the future. As
we grow academically, we strive to provide creative and demanding
programs to meet the current and future needs of our students.

OUf facilities are expa nding, as well as non-academic programs. With the
new gymnasium taking shape and the addition of men's and women's
basketball teams, new dimensions to campus life have been added.

With the new academic year, we look forward to many exciting moments
as together we make things happen at Lynn University.
