The large group (87%) over 18 capture a range of people who potentially grew up with Pokemon or at least encountered Pikachu through pop culture. From the results, Gen Z is the generation that moat encountered Pikachu througout many ways. Occupation: The two largest respondent groups were employed in either the government or private sector (70% combined). The survey also captured responses from students (16.5%) and unemployed individuals. The high percentage (70%) working in government or private sectors who might have disposable income to spend on Pikachu merchandise or attend Pokemon-related events.

Franchise Strength: Pikachu's strong presence across the Pokemon franchise (anime, games, etc.) is another significant contributor, chosen by almost 70% of respondents. This constant exposure likely reinforces Pikachu's memorability and appeal. Electric Spark: Recognizable electric attacks play a role for over half the respondents. Pikachu's signature "Thunderbolt" attack might be another reason for its enduring popularity. Marketing Matters: Marketing and merchandise contribute to Pikachu's popularity for over a third of respondents. This highlights the impact of branding and product association. Personality Plays a Part: While not the most dominant factor, positive personality traits resonate with over a third of respondents, suggesting Pikachu's friendly and loyal portrayal adds to its charm.


16 With great electric power comes great responsibility. Out of 115 respondents, 36.5% answered yes, 55.7% answered maybe, and 7.8% answered no. The results show that more than half of the respondents (55.7%) are unsure about the connection, while a significant portion (36.5%) answered yes. Only a small minority (7.8%) said they don't associate Pikachu with Japanese culture. A follow-up question was asked to those who answered yes (64 respondents), which was "If you answered yes to question 5, why do you associate Pikachu with Japanese culture?" Out of the 64 respondents, 54.7% said it was because Pikachu's design incorporates elements of Japanese folklore or mythology, 32.8% said it was because it's a character from a Japanese franchise (Pokemon), and 12.5% said it was because the art style of Pikachu resembles classic Japanese animation. Among those who answered yes in question 1, a majority (54.7%) believe Pikachu's design itself reflects Japanese culture. This suggests that visual design plays a strong role in shaping this association. A smaller but still notable portion (32.8%) recognizes Pikachu as a character from a Japanese franchise, Pokemon. Only a small percentage (12.5%) identified the art style as a reason for the connection. Overall, the survey results show that while many people associate Pikachu with Japanese culture, the reasons for this association can vary. Design elements referencing Japanese folklore or mythology seem to be the most prominent factor.

This suggests that Pikachu has been a positive influence in promoting Japanese pop culture. A smaller but still notable portion (21.7%) said Pikachu created a stereotype of Japanese culture being cute and child-like. It is important to note that this response is negative, indicating that Pikachu may not represent the full range of Japanese popular culture. Only a small percentage (9.6%) said they believe Pikachu has had no significant impact. Another small group (4.8%) provided other unspecified responses. Overall, the survey results show that Pikachu is most associated with increased interest in Japanese animation and video games, but it can also contribute to a stereotype about Japanese culture. From the result shows that 37 of the respondents owned some Pikachu merchandise Plush toys are the most popular type of merchandise, with 81.1% of respondents owning them. Trading cards are the second most popular type of merchandise, with 56.8% of respondents owning them. Clothing (T-shirts, hats, etc.) is the third most popular type of merchandise, with 40.5% of respondents owning them. Video games are the least popular type of merchandise, with only 21 respondents (56.8%) owning them. Some respondents own multiple types of merchandise. For example, 30 respondents own both plush toys and trading cards. A small number of respondents own other types of merchandise, such as stickers (2.7%) and dolls. This finding suggests that a significant majority of respondents who own Pikachu merchandise prefer plush toys and similar cuddly items. This could be due to the cute and huggable nature of these toys, which may appeal to people of all ages.


Analysis and determine the uniqueness about Pikachu 18 Of those who responded, 67% (77 people) said that Pikachu is somewhat unique, while 33% (38 people) said that Pikachu is very unique. The most common reason people selected for why Pikachu is unique was design (73% or 64 people). Other reasons people selected included Pikachu's electric attacks (50.9% or 70 people), mascot status (38.3% or 44 people), personality (37.4% or 43 people), and evolution line (21.7% or 25 people). The findings of this survey suggest that people believe that Pikachu is a somewhat unique character. The most common reason people gave for this belief is Pikachu's design. This is likely due to the fact that Pikachu is a very recognizable character with a simple but memorable design. Pikachu's electric attacks and mascot status were also cited as reasons for why people believe it is unique.
