PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

A SEASON TO REJOICE

“And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the
people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

- Luke 2:10–11

Whether you recognize Kwanzaa, Christmas, or any other seasonal festivities, we can all join in
the sentiment that this is a joyful time. Families come together from far and wide, be it virtual or
in person, to celebrate the joy of the season. My thoughts also turn to our family, our sisterhood.
As we return from Thanksgiving breaks and the joyful memories we made, I am reminded of the
joy we find in service to others through our activities that promote our programmatic thrust. As
I watch each committee working unceasingly toward their goals, my heart is filled with joy. Your
support humbles me which propels me further in leadership. These thoughts fill my heart with overwhelming joy etched
in my heart as I lead our organization. I pray each of you experience the full joy obtained in serving others and the joy the
season brings. Seasons Greetings Sorors and Happy New Year!

With a grateful and joyous heart,

Janez

God’s Christmas Gift

By Cathy Bacote

Peace ~ God’s Christmas Gift

“I am leaving you with a gift--peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world
gives. So, don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27

Peace. What a beautiful gift from God! Because he is your maker, only he can know exactly what gift

will mean the most to you. He doesn’t give the same type of gifts you can get from the world. He gives
what cannot be destroyed, broken or misplaced—the blessed gift of His peace. He knew that the gift of
authentic peace would be not only what you wanted but also what you needed. Without Christ’s peaceful
presence among us, we would be lost. Through God’s presence working with us and within us, we are
being healed, transformed, reconciled and made whole.

Sorors, it is my prayer that throughout the holiday you are filled with his glorious peaceful presence.
During the Christmas season, may you be blessed with the spirit of the season which is PEACE. May
you be blessed with the gladness of the season which is HOPE. And may you be blessed with the
heart of the season which is LOVE. Through God’s enduring presence and promise, may you expe-
rience the joy of family, the treasure of friends, and the miracle of God’s love. Wishing you warm and
wonderful blessings and may the miracle of Christmas fill your home and your heart with joy and peace
forever.

For Unto Us
A Child is Born
Unto Us a Son is Given:
And The Government Will Be Upon His Shoulders.
And His Name Will Be Called
Wonderful, Counselor,

Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,

Prince of Peace

MEMBERSHIP SERVICES

BYOB: BRING YOUR OWN BRA
By Michelle Lewis

To acknowledge Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Membership Services Committee hosted the 2nd Annual
BYOB: Breast Cancer Awareness bra decorating event. The event kicked-off with Soror Pamela Porter sharing
her personal journey battling and conquering the disease and how important it is to be an advocate for your-

self. In a very open and honest conversation, Soror Porter answered questions and
stressed that even when family members or friends don’t know how to reach out,
support comes in many forms and is always appreciated.
During the second portion of the event, attendees decorated
bras to symbolize the importance of awareness and educa-
tion not only during the month of October, but throughout the
year. Prizes were awarded for bras that were created  “free-
style” using the participants imagination; and those created
“following-along” the crafting instructions.
