Thank you for taking the time to consider Wellfield High School for
your child during one of the most exciting times for the school in recent
years. September 2017 marked the launch of an exciting partnership
between Wellfield and Endeavour Learning Trust and particularly
Tarleton Academy. Having been the Head at Tarleton for six years I
am now a designated National Leader of Education, the CEO of our
growing trust, Executive Head at Tarleton and, from September 2017,
Executive Head here at Wellfield too.

Executive Head in the top 15% of schools nationally for individual student progress, as well
as being a designated National Teaching School. Standards in all areas are
recognised as excellent, including leadership, teaching, learning, behaviour,
pastoral and inclusion support and individual student success for all levels
of ability. Building on the many strengths here at Wellfield we work to ensure
that the best of both schools is clearly evident, with a number of key staff and
central policies being employed across the partnership. We are extremely
excited about the rapid and sustained development taking place here at
Wellfield. We are privileged to have a core of fabulous staff and students
already in place; thirsting for the school wide success and high levels of

All students receive Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG)
within our Personal, Social, Health and Careers Education programme from Year 7 to
Year 11. This enables students to make informed decisions about their next steps after
Wellfield and beyond. Personal Tutors work closely with our students through this
programme and through individual interviews as appropriate. Wellfield High School
has strong links with local colleges which offer ‘taster’ sessions for students at their
colleges. We are regularly visited by colleges and providers so that our students are
well informed of all their options. We also keep our students informed of the huge
range of apprenticeships and traineeships available.

The most important thing for us is that our students think beyond the ‘here and now’
and that we help them to make that their ambitions become a reality through hard
work, clear direction and forward planning.

Our new Partnership with Tarleton Academy is about sharing the good practice from Tarleton across both schools
so that Wellfield students have the same opportunities and see an increase in examination results. Below shows
a snapshot of Tarleton Academy’s 2017 English and Maths GCSE results. Their ethos of teaching to the top can
clearly be seen to benefit students of all abilities.

With an impressive 8 GCSEs, talented pupil Alisha Ibitoye achieved the much sought after grade ‘9’ in English HEADLINE FIGURES 2017 | ATTENDANCE
Language! “I’m amazed at my English result”, she said “I was worried I hadn’t done well.” The former head girl at
Wellfield, also achieved A* grades in History and Religious Education, said she was thrilled with her results and is
going on to study ‘A’ levels at Runshaw College. She wanted to thank staff for all the support and opportunities she
has received during her time at Wellfield.

Congratulations to Lydia Robinson who achieved a fantastic set of GCSE results, including a Grade
9 in English Language. Lydia, who also achieved a Grade 8 in English Literature and 7 in Maths,
said: “I’m overjoyed. English wasn’t my strongest subject so I’m excited and happy about those
results in particular!” Lydia also praised the opportunities she was given throughout her time at
Wellfield also left with a Grade A* in Spanish, A in Additional Science and A in PE. When asked
what advice she would provide to other students at Wellfield, Lydia suggested to “start revising
early and enjoy your learning.” Well done once again Lydia and good luck at Runshaw!

Well done to mathematician Jordan, who achieved a Grade 8 in his Maths GCSE! Jordan, who is also a keen
basketballer, made excellent progress in a wide range of his subjects and secured a fantastic set of results.
These include Grade A in Geography, Additional Science, Business and Spanish, as well as grade 7 in English
Literature and English Language. Jordan now moves onto study A’ levels in maths, Spanish and Business Studies.

At Wellfield High School, we believe that a school uniform

CHILD PROTECTION

Child protection is part of safeguarding and protecting the welfare of our students.

The purpose of having a child protection policy is to provide clear direction to all staff and others about
expected codes of behaviour in dealing with child protection issues.

It states the school’s commitment to the development of good practice and sound procedures. It ensures that
child protection concerns and referrals are handled sensitively, professionally and in ways which prioritise the
needs of the child.
