INTRODUCTION

Covid-19 is an infectious disease caused by a
coronavirus found in Wuhan, China. It
started spreading in 2019 and still exists

today. However, the infected population is
decreasing as people start taking vaccines
as part of an effort to protect themselves. As

we know, covid-19 has a very profound
effect on all groups of people in every aspect

of life. for example, from the educational
aspect. the teachers as well as the students
had to experience sudden changes with the
new norms in the education system. Due to

covid-19 easily spreading from one
individual to another, the government
decided to close all schools. Therefore, I
would like to share my learning experience

during the covid-19 pandemic.

Learning challenges during
covid-19

First of all, learning during the covid-19
pandemic is very challenging. The closing of
school was the starting point where I change
my way of learning as a student. My friends
and I can no longer see each other and we
can't learn in the classroom physically with the
teacher. Therefore, we can only learn online. I
think it is a big challenge for us as students as
well as teachers. This is where I started
learning about google education such as
google classroom, google meet and google
docs. Usually, the teachers will create online
classes through the google meet platform. It is
not a problem for me, but some students have
problems joining google meet due to low
internet access in their area. therefore, they
will fall behind in their studies and this is very
worrying. Furthermore, covid-19 hit the year
where we sat for the important exam, SPM.
Our emotions become uncertain because not
all students can get used to studying online
and we bring the hope of parents to get
excellent results in spm.

Online Tuition

Next, I decided to participate in online
tuition to enhance my knowledge about a

subject. Actually, I had previously
participated in tuition around the city, but

due to the MCO announced by the
government, tuition centers had to be
closed. I enrolled in mc+ when I was in
form 5. I felt very enjoyed learning with
their tutors. I was also able to add new
friends around Malaysia. I can access to
join classes wherever I am. My parents can

also monitor the progress of their
children's studies in front of their eyes. One
thing I like about online learning is that all

students will be upfront. For example, all
students will be able to hear the teacher's

voice clearly. Unlike studying at school,
students who are at the back of the class
usually hear less of the teacher's voice

when teaching.

6

School reopening!

When covid-19 cases are decreasing in Malaysia, the
government announced the opening of schools in

stages and prioritized those who will sit for important
exams. It's good news for us because we haven't
been able to learn with teachers and friends at

school for a long time. Even so, there are preventive
measures that students should take. For example,
always wear a face mask, always wash our hands

with soap and practice social distancing. Before the
covid-19 hit, we had to eat in the canteen during
recess time but when covid-19 hit, students were
allowed to eat in class to avoid gathering.

Furthermore, the weekly assembly held every Monday
has also been cancelled.

7

CONCLUSION

In a nut shell, studying during the covid-
19 pandemic was an unforgettable
experience. It not only suffers from

deficiencies but also has advantages
because indirectly we can learn along

with technological progress. I feel
grateful because we were able to

survive and as an outcome, we
manage to get excellent results in SPM.

To some extent, it trained us to be
patient and continue our efforts to gain
knowledge regardless of the challenges
ahead. As Pele once said, "success is no
accident. It is hard work, perseverance,
learning, studying, sacrifice and most of
all, love what you are doing or learning

to do."
