FESTIVE TIMES IN THE CAPITAL!

Festival season is upon us!  The veteran expat knows that this is the time of year Abu
Dhabi gears up many events that are happening all across the capital city.  The Formula
One race is the most noted event of the year.  With the many concerts and festivals 
marking the race, this four day celebration starting November 22nd is an exciting event
for residents and international visitors alike.

Soon after that is National Day on December 2nd.  Fireworks and local events
throughout the city will be happening and local schools celebrate as well with
traditional activities to give pride and appreciation for where we live. 

Coming from outside the UAE, other holidays are celebrated as well.  Diwali, the Indian
Festival of lights has just passed.  With American Thanksgiving being celebrated on
November 22, many will be marking the occasion with some turkey and pumpkin pie. 

Rounding out the end of the year is the Christmas events and firework celebrations to
ring in 2019.  It's a great time to enjoy the best of what Abu Dhabi has to offer!

Finding Balance in Health and Wellness

          There is no diet and lifestyle that suits everyone because we are all Individuals. 
Once we understand this basic principle it becomes easier to achieve better health. 
Everyone has their own unique needs for eating and living that works best for them. Our
needs keep changing with time. As our lifestyles evolve what used to work may not work
anymore. You will have to keep checking in to see what’s working for you as you move
through life’s changes. We all experienced these changes by moving to Abu Dhabi and
building new lives for ourselves, settling our families, some in new jobs and others
having children. 
          It is also important to know that food is not just what is on your plate. A major
source of nourishment comes from food which is off your plate including your
relationships, spirituality, a higher purpose, adventure, movement, and self-expression.
You need these in your lives to thrive. All of these play an equal if not greater role than
what you put in your mouth. Health is not just about the perfect diet and exercise. If you
have stress in your relationships and a job that does not fulfill you then no matter how
much kale and celery you eat, you will not reach your full health potential.

We've had a wonderful first term for the MPSN Board. It is now time for MPSN
elections! The organization runs on motivated and committed board members
and volunteers. If you think that you would be a good fit with the following roles,
or know someone within MPSN that would be, nominate yourself or them! The
current Vice President, Jane Browne, will move into the role of President. The

roles of Secretary and Events Planner have been filled within the last three
months, thus the following positions are open for nominations:

Vice President: works in conjunction with the President and will take on the role
as President after one year

Communications Director: creates communication strategy, content and
manages newsletter and social media

Activities Director: provides support for various groups and clubs

Membership Coordinator: Welcomes new members and connects them with
MPSN
