Military Luke Air Force Base Fitness Center

Location: Luke Air Force Base, This project is a complete remodel and expansion of

Location: Monterey, California The Advanced Individual Training (AIT) Barracks,
Presidio of Monterey project is a four-story 320-room
Project Owner: Army Corps of Engineers residential building that houses military students. The
Contractor: Sundt Construction project includes apartments, common living/program

Military Naval Weapons Station Earle

Location: Leonardo, New Jersey The Naval Weapons Station Earle was a design-build
project for NAVFAC. The project included bridge

Military Hawaii Regional Security Operations Center

Location: Wahiawa, Hawaii The Hawaii Regional Security Operations Center (HRSOC)
is a large and complex project consisting of a Security
Project Owner: Dept. of Navy NAVAC Operations Center, Warehouse Expansion, and a Visitor

Budget: $318,000,000 entry point.
Size: 243,200 SF
Completed: 2010 The project is located on the Naval Computer and
Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific base just
north of Wahiawa, Hawaii. Arrington Watkins partnered with
DPI and Dick Pacific (now DCK) for this Design build project.

The primary facility is a new 243,200 GSF crypto logic
Security Operations Center (OPS) that will support around-the-
clock intelligence collection and reporting activities 365 days
a year. The design is organized around a two-story building
that includes: mission / operations and administrative offices,
video conference spaces, briefing rooms, technical libraries,
training rooms, technology support spaces and other ancillary
spaces required to support intelligence acquisition.

The building also includes a large one-story mission critical data
center and central plant wing that houses all of the redundant
mechanical, electrical, data and telecommunication systems
that ensure continuous and reliable operations. Another one-
story wing of the building, which is adjacent to the main
entrance of the facility, houses a corporate style cafeteria
that offers a full complement of foods and beverages within a
large employee dining room.

The full-service kitchen and dining areas are designed for 24-
hour continuous operation and will provide breakfast, lunch
and dinner service in four turns at each meal. To handle the
anticipated throughput, the plan includes multiple served and
self-service stations, 24 lineal feet of beverage service and
multiple cashier stations to handle peak periods.

This project required Environmental Impact Report.

Training Facility Federal Correctional Institution – Mendota Training Facility

Location: Mendota, California The Federal Correctional Institution in Mendota,
Project Owner: Federal Bureau of Prisons California sits on 960 acres of land and includes a
Contractor: Anderson Burton medium security section housing 1,152 adults as well
Construction Cost: $3,672,725 as a minimum camp with a capacity of 128 inmates.
Complete: May 2012
Size: 9,800 SF Warehouse Arrington Watkins designed the entire facility in two
phases and construction was substantially completed
in 2011. Some months later, the design–build team of
Anderson Burton contractors and Arrington Watkins
Architects was hired to design and build a Training
Facility outside of the perimeter of the correctional
facility.

The Training Facility consisted of a 9,800 SF
pre-engineered building, parking for 13 cars
and associated driveways and utilities
connections. The building, which is used to train
the staff of the Correctional Institution, consists of a
1,700 SF exercise room and a 2,600 SF assembly
room, dividable in half, along with support spaces
such as showers and restrooms, food preparation,
offices and storage.

Design-build project with Anderson Burton

Firing Range FCI Mendota Firing Range

Location: Mendota, California Arrington Watkins was the Design/Build architect of
Project Owner: Federal Burea of Prisons record for the FCI Mendota Firing Range. The firing
Contractor: Anderson Burton range includes 16 firing stations and is master planned
Construction (including current infrastructure) to accommodate eight
Contact: Fletcher Burton additional stations. The building includes a classroom,
Contact Phone: 805.481.5096 office, storage, and mechanical space. The range was
Construction Cost: $2,018,143 designed to accommodate a pneumatic target system.
Completion Date: The range supports shooting/target distances of 3, 7,
January 2013 15, 25, and 50 yards. Each target area is constructed
with a berm and backed by concrete and wood
barriers. A lead trap catch basin for bullet was installed
down range.

There is also a range support building of approximately
970 SF. The range support building was constructed of
masonry block with a metal roof system. The building
houses a range master office, a classroom and storage.
There is a wood canopy structure over the firing line. The
government furnished AR500 steel bullet proof ballistic
plating that ABCI installed. Blast sound mitigation
acoustical ceiling treatments were also completed.
A ductless heating and cooling unit was installed to
service the Range Master and classrooms areas.
