A319-133, A320-211, A320-212, A320-214, A320-232, A320-233, A321-211, A321-231
Series replacement NGS Air Filter. The original manufacturer (Parker Hannifin) part number
listed in the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) and Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC) is
KIT2050118-301 The new part number manufactured by the Global Filtration is
KIT2050118-301GF. The GF at the end of the part number denotes Global Filtration and
was requested by the airlines to be marked as such.

Scope To complete this project Global Filtration, Inc. ran a series of comparative tests equivalency.

In accordance with the tests, a comparative test was run using the standardized ANSI/ASHRAE
52.1-1992 test procedure, or Ulpa D media test. Each filter was run at the prescribed CFM. In results
are listed in the body of this report.

The following filter specification was transmitted to the applicant from Boeing under a license
agreement on the specifications for the filter.

Conclusion When comparing the two filters, the ASHRAE Standard Atmospheric Dust-Spot Efficiency at high
speed the GF filter vs OEM Parker Filtration the FAA PMA Element has equal to or better quality to the
OEM units.

ICA, Safety Assessment and Statement of Non-Criticality

1. Scope
This engineering data package documents that Global Filtration, Inc. has complied with all the applicable
requirements, as identified in the certification basis of Test and Computations per 14 CFR 21.303(a)(4)
and (5). This package and all attached documents that support our request for approval are true and no
false or misleading statements have been made (reference 14 CFR § 21.2).

2. Part Function
Global Filtration’s research of this part number has determines the element is non-flight critical and an
expendable part. The NGS System separates and collects contaminants from the system, keeping the air
clean before its converted to nitrogen. If the element was to reach its capacity the effect on the system
would be minimal and unfiltered or dirty air might enter the system. But it would still allow the the system
to function fully until maintenance can replace the unit or a by pass switch would pop.

3. StatementofNon-criticality
Global’s research has determined the NGS Air Filter (P/N 2010118-201GF used in
KIT2050118-301GF) is a non-safety significant, expendable, non-critical part. When installed
correctly, the Filter will perform as intended.

4. FMEA
The NGS air element separates and collects contaminants from the air, keeping the air clean prior to
converstion to nitogen. If the element was to reach its capacity the effect on the system would be
minimal and unfiltered or dirty air might enter the NGS system and cause a by pass switch to pop. But
it would still allow the air to still circulate within the system.

5. Assessmentof ICA
A supplemental ICA is not required. The Boeing NGS Filter will be maintained in accordance with the
Manufacturer’s and Airline’s IPC and maintenance manuals. The Boeing NGS Air Filter is removed and
disposed of during normal maintenance cycles.

No further action required.

6. SafetyAssessment 21
After performing a qualitative assessment, Global has determined that the Boeing NGS Air Filter, as stated
in Assessment of ICA, above, is required to pass several installation, acceptance and quality inspections.
These inspections ensure the quality and integrity of the installation. The Boeing NGS Air Filter is a non-
safety significant, expendable, non-critical part. When the Boeing NGS Air Filter is installed correctly, it will
perform as intended.

Design Methodology

Global Filtration, Inc. / Porvair Filtration evaluated 2 OEM samples to
determine dimensions and tolerances for P/N 7588561GF.

• Each Filter was examined for workmanship and visible defects before
measurement.
• Dimensions were determined by averaging the range of dimensions acquired during
inspection. Tolerances were determined from applicable manufacturing and machinist practices.

• Each OEM sample is dimensionally inspected using a calibrated CMM or hand held
inspection tool. The dimensions are down loaded to IGS/CAD program (Auto Desk Master Program).
The machine shop then down loads the dimensions to the assigned machine.

• The Global Filtration, Inc / Porvair Filtration selected materials that were exactly matched with the OEM element
but the media used was a better efficiency allowing for cleaner air and better overall perfomance. See Below:

7.3 Dirt holding capacity & efficiency

This test will be used to demonstrate compliance with both the efficiency and dirt holding capacity
requirements defined in paragraph two. This test will be carried out in accordance with ISO16889.

7.4 Equipment Preparation
This test shall be carried out using MIL-PRF-5606 as the working fluid.

Connect the filter assembly to test rig PM1044. Fit particle counters immediately upstream
and downstream of the filter assembly.

Use a data logging system to continually record the differential pressure and oil temperature
throughout the test.

7.5 Test Procedure

With the flow rate at 100litres/min inject 10mg/l of ISO 12103 medium test dust with the
particle distribution shown in table 3.
