on the night of Diwali. It signifies his liberation of the soul and encourages others to follow the path of

ISJS is happy to announce that the 5 th Jain Studies Winter Program would be held in December 2022
online.

After the overwhelming response for an online course on “Fundamentals of Prakrit Language” in the
English language from November 8 till December 7, 2022. ISJS will soon announce the same course in the
forthcoming months.

"The Rhythm of Life," a holistic experiential retreat from November 11 to 13, is scheduled to assist people to
grasp the essence of happiness and discover skills to help them navigate life. Details within.

In the speak-up article this time, we have an article from Mr. Pranshav Pandya in which he vividly narrates
how Jainism can lead to Peace and Harmony, link inside.

On the pre-month of the 2 nd Nirvana Anniversary of Acharya Gyan Sagar Ji and to Greet on the Deepawali
festival season, on October 15, 2022 online lecture was held by the Gyan Sagar Foundation details within.

Starting on November 17, 2022 till April 30, 2023, the Jain Exhibition titled "Being Jain – Art and Culture of an
Indian Religion” will be held at Reitberg Museum in Zurich, Switzerland. Link inside.

Claremont School of Theology, Claremont, California is going to conduct an International Conference on
Forgiveness: Jain and Interreligious Perspectives on November 4-5, 2022 registration link inside.

Online Lecture on “Anekantavada once more: some new perspectives”

On the pre-month of the 2 nd Nirvana Anniversary of Acharya Gyan Sagar Ji and to Greet on
the Deepawali festival season, on October 15, 2022 online lecture was held by Gyan Sagar

Foundation. A leading Jains Scholar Dr. Marie-Hélène Grosse, Faculty of Arts and Philosophy,
Ghent University delivered a lecture on the unique subject “Anekantavada once more: some

Many Jain stalwarts and dignitaries attended this program. Jain veteran and former
President Jaina, Dr. Sulekh Jain chaired the session. Professor Anupam Jain was the guest of
honor and moderator. The Lightening of the lamp was done by Dr. Dev Kumarji.

Opening of Exhibition: ‘Being Jain- Art and Culture of an Indian Religion’
at Switzerland


Starting on November 17, 2022, till April 30, 2023, the Jain Exhibition titled "Being Jain – Art
and Culture of an Indian Religion” will be held at Rietberg Museum in Zurich, Switzerland. The
exhibition "Being Jain – Art and Culture of an Indian Religion" provides an introduction to a
religion that currently has about five million followers worldwide. Outside India, Jainism is
largely unknown; unlike Buddhism, which emerged around the same time, it was never
embraced by Western followers. In six chapters, the exhibition presents the fundamental

beliefs of Jainism, its influence on daily life and religious practice, and features works of art

created to illustrate and promote those beliefs. Visitors are encouraged to engage with the

essential principles of Jainism, such as non-violence towards all
and tolerance of other opinions and ways of life. This is the first exhibition in Switzerland on

the subject of Jainism in nearly 50 years.

The exhibition is based on the latest findings in the history of art and religion; at the same

time, it presents results from field research and interviews with practicing Jains from all

over the world. It bridges history and the present by talking about migration, and the Jain
diaspora, but also, about important issues such as ecology and non-violence.
