Sultan Abu Bakar Museum is a
museum in Pekan, Pahang, Malaysia
that has a rich collection of
historical items. Located on Jalan
Sultan Ahmad, the museum
showcase antiques that include
many ancient Chinese items made
of glass and pottery, as well as
items related to natural history,
archeology, ethology and royalty.

The history of Pahang, especially
with regards to its ancient kings, is
well documented in this museum.
The museum building was the
residence of the first British
Resident in Pahang and dates back
to the 1880s. Since thattime, the
building has been used as the
headquarters of the Japanese
Armed Forces during the Japanese
occupation and later, as the official
Palace of the late Sultan Abu Bakar.

The museum serves to aid the
study of local culture and
preserve old monuments and
historical places and promote
tourism. Tourists can also
witness a little bit of royal
family life through silverware,
jewelry and souvenirs on display
in the museum. There are also
pictures of the royal family from
the reign of Sultan Abu Bakar.

The front grassy area has
trains, tanks and airplanes.
There is a large shallow pool
with fountains and wooden
bird statues. A highlight is the
wooden intricate constructions
of people and animals such as
horses, elephants and deer. The
area ia also a place for tourists
and locals to take pictures
such as wedding pictures and
during Hari Raya.

Sultan Abu Bakar Museum
is often an attraction
for tourists and locals.
Therefore, this museum
has become one of the
interesting places in
Pahang.
