My Visit to the National Museum
uring the month of May, I visited the National Museum
with my class. The first thing that greeted us was this huge
monument called the ‘Temple Chariot’ which is a chariot
Ddedicated to Lord Vishnu. It originally belongs to Kumbakonam,
Tamil Nadu. The National Museum is a huge building with many sections
all of which are dedicated to history. The first section we went to was the
archaeology section. We saw various kinds of artefacts that archaeologists
have dug up with time. We saw the remains of the Harappan Civilisation
which is one of the oldest civilisations in the world. There were many
small ornaments, toys and statues that have been collected from the ruins
of that civilisation. We also saw a layout of the civilisation describing the
lifestyle of the people and how they went about their daily life. It seemed
as if we were already there during that era. We also saw the Indian
miniature painting section that had beautiful paintings detailed minutely
by talented artists that lived in the Mughal era. Further ahead was a
completely separate section dedicated to Buddhist art displaying Lord
Buddha’s sculptures and paintings in various styles collected from around
the world. After that, we went to the category dedicated to the evolution
of Indian scripts and coins. It was amazing to know how we have adopted
so many different languages with time. On the first floor is the Central
Asian antiquity section. This section had terracotta sculptures and different
North Indian paintings which was an enriching experience. Next was the
very interesting coin section. We learned that coins have evolved majorly
from punch marked coins to what they are today. There was also a navy
section which displayed various navy uniforms and structures of ships
along with their history. The

mythological stories about Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.
The guide told us interesting stories like the craftsmen
protecting their eyes with transparent leaves while lying
down and carving the underside of roofs. We also visited
Mahakuta, Aihole and Pattadakkal temples on this day. It
was all a dream come true to see such beautiful temples

Apart from the serious viewing of temples and ruins,
we also had a lot of fun in the bus playing ‘antakshri’

memories. Though I have been to two other school trips,
this one seemed to be the most exciting and informative.

My Trip to God’s Own Country, Kerala
I
went on a family trip to Kerala in the summer vacation. We
covered three places i.e. Kochi, Munnar and Alleppey. We landed
at Kochi airport and went
directly to our hotel. There,
we were served coconut water
as a welcome drink. We went to
the only Jew Synagogue in India
where I read about why and when
Jews came to India. After that,
we went to the Kerala Kathakali
Centre. I was so amazed to
see the Kathakali dancers
Globe Trotters applying makeup on their
face for one hour. Finally,
we visited a famous church
and a folklore museum.
Our next stop was a
beautiful hill station, Munnar,
lush with abundant tea plantation.
There, we visited Echo Point, a tea
factory and a botanical garden. We
also went to Rajamalai Eravikulam
National Park where we spotted
a few Nilghiri Tahr. They are a
rare species of goat. On the way,
we also enjoyed an elephant ride
which was great fun. Our last stop
was the famous backwaters in
Alleppey. Spending a day in a houseboat was a memorable experience.
Truly, my India is a beautiful country and I am proud to be an Indian.

Beautiful Darjeeling
I
went to Darjeeling with my family. It is a beautiful hill station
in West Bengal. There are many lush tea gardens. I took a ride in
the famous toy train. I enjoyed adventure sports like paragliding,
ropeway and river crossing. I did horse riding for the first time. It
was very exciting. There were many Buddhist monasteries. I had lots of
fun during this trip.
