Chipola Adds New Programs to Meet Area Need Approximately fifty top scholars from local high schools are enrolled and getting a head start on their college education at zero cost. The Academy was created to reduce barriers to participation and increase equitable access and success in dual enrollment. In addition to high quality instruction, the six week program provides one-on-one advising and career counseling, academic support, and the only opportunity for dual enrollment students to complete orientation prior to high school graduation. Research shows that students who participate in dual enrollment are significantly more likely to graduate. Students who complete the summer academy not only save on tuition, they are better acclimated to college expectations. This year, the academy included two computer courses taught in college’s new Cyber Range that provide the students an opportunity to earn two CompTIA certifications. For more information about dual enrollment for the upcoming Fall Semester, contact Karen Hall at (850) 718-2424 or hallk@ chipola.edu. Chipola’s Dual Enrollment Summer Academy began Monday, June 3.
