Chipola Provides Great Education Value
With prices of everything on the rise, Chipola continues to be an exceptional
value in higher education.
The District Board of Trustees has not raised tuition or fees in nearly a decade,
since 2011-12. Chipola’s in-state tuition is $102 per semester hour for freshman and
sophomore classes, and only $115 an hour for junior and senior classes. Georgia and
Alabama residents pay only one dollar more per semester hour.
By comparison, Florida State University’s undergraduate tuition is $215 per hour
on the main campus and $180 per hour at the Panama City campus. The University
of West Florida’s tuition is $218 an hour. Troy University—Troy and Dothan
campuses—charges $325 an hour.
The majority of Chipola students receive some form of financial aid through the
Federal Pell Grant, State of Florida scholarships such as Bright Futures or through the
Chipola Foundation. The college awards $3.2 million annually in State and Federal
awards and nearly $1 million through Institutional Waivers and Scholarships.
The Chipola Foundation awarded 1,098 scholarships during the 2019-20 school year totaling over $778,000 spent toward
tuition and books. The Foundation also helps students with gifts from two large trusts. The Violet McLendon Educational
Trust awarded more than 340 scholarships this school year. The Maynard and Edna Fink Estate funds 14 Valedictorian
Scholarships at $4,000 and 27 other scholarships annually.

Steve Young, Chipola Vice President of Business Services, says, “Chipola is the best return on investment a student can
make. We award more in financial aid and scholarships than we collect in tuition and fees.”

Chipola Theatre Announces 2021-22 Season
The Chipola College Theatre Department announces its 2021-
2022 season with a line-up of six plays that promise to be exciting
entertainment for all ages.

For ten hard-luck Texans a new lease on life is so close they can
touch it in the hilarious musical Hands on a Hardbody (Oct. 14-17,
2021).

One of the most renowned of Oscar Wilde’s comedies, The
Importance of Being Earnest (February 24-27, 2022) is the story of
two bachelors, John “Jack” Worthing and Algernon “Algy” Moncreiff,
who create alter egos named Ernest to escape their tiresome lives.

In the beloved children’s musical Charlotte’s Web (May 12-13,
2022) an affectionate, sometimes bashful pig named Wilbur befriends
a spider named Charlotte, who lives in the rafters above his pen.

The Chipola Theatre season culminates with an opportunity
for the community to participate in the new Chipola Shakespeare
program. This year’s performance will be The Taming of the Shrew
(June 16-18, 2022).

New to the Chipola Theatre lineup this year is the opportunity to experience staged readings. A staged reading is theatre
in its purest form. No set, no props, no costumes. Actors interact and perform the story with scripts. Some stage directions
will be read to help set the scene, similar to listening to an audiobook. Alabama Rain will be read November 4-5, 2021 in the
Center for the Arts Experimental Theatre.

Gee’s Bend will be read March 31 and April 1 in the Center for the Arts Experimental Theatre.
The ACT (Applauding Chipola Theatre) Fund directly supports the Chipola Theatre program. Season Memberships go
on sale Aug. 18. Membership levels include a number of tickets to be used throughout the 2021-22 season. Memberships
begin at the Sponsor Level for $25 (2 tickets), Patron Level for $50 (4 tickets), Benefactor Level for $75 (6 tickets), Angel
Level for $100 (8 tickets), and up to the Corporate Angel Level for $300 (12 tickets). ACT Fund members receive early ticket
redemption opportunities and special benefits throughout the season.

American talent to a cornucopia of iconic melodies through innovative arrangements

before The Andrews Sisters hit the airwaves with “Bei Mir Bist Du Schön” in 1937,
but audiences will hear those great vintage songs with fresh ears when America’s
Sweethearts take the stage in their fresh and vibrant show! Learn more at www.
americas-sweethearts.com.
