Chipola Indians Win State Championship; Headed To Nationals

The Chipola Indians defeated number one seed Indian
River State College (73-64) on Saturday, March 5, to win
back-to-back FCSAA State Titles and punch their ticket
to the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson,
Kansas.
In what has become a trademark of Coach Donnie
Tyndall’s Chipola teams, the Indians came out of the
locker room in the second half and used a double-digit
run to pull away from the Pioneers to claim their 17th
Chipola State Championship, the most of any other FCSAA
Men’s college.

Lady Indians Earn At-Large Berth to Nationals

The Chipola Lady Indians are headed to the National Championship
in Lubbock, TX, as the #16 seed.

Chipola will play 17 seed Tyler Junior College (23-8) in the opening
game of the National Tournament on Wednesday, March 16, at 10 a.m.

The Lady Indians made it to the semifinals of the FCSAA state

tournament but received one of eight at-large bids, allowing them to
return to National Tournament in Lubbock, Texas.

Chipola lost to Northwest 68-51 in the semifinals
of the state tournament. The Lady Indians beat Florida
Southwestern 63-61 in overtime in the first round of the
state tournament.

If Chipola advances in the first round, they will play
Three Rivers on March 17 at 2 p.m. CT. Chipola finished
last season in the final four of the National Tournament.

Registration for Chipola Summer Classes Begins April 4

Chipola College registration for Summer classes begins April 4 for current students with 30 or more hours. All current
students may register beginning April 5. New students may register beginning April 11 after being accepted to the college.

April 15 is the deadline to have financial aid application files submitted for Summer classes.
Chipola will offer many traditional face-to-face and online classes during the Summer
terms.
There are three Summer terms. Summer 1-A runs 12 weeks, May 10 to Aug. 8. Summer
1-B runs six weeks, May 10 to June 21. Summer 2-C runs six weeks, June 27 to Aug. 8.
The college Application for Admission deadlines are: April 25 for Summer
Session 1 and June 9 for Summer Session II.
Students may register in person with a college adviser, or online if they meet
certain requirements.
Chipola offers Bachelor’s Degrees, Associate in Arts Degrees, Associate in
Science Degrees, Workforce Development programs and certifications.

Chipola College Commencement Set For May 5

The Chipola College 2022 Commencement Ceremony is set for Thursday, May 5, at 7 p.m. CT,
at the Dothan Civic Center. The address is 126 St. Andrews Street, Dothan, AL, 36303.

Graduates should receive an email from the college about caps and gowns which will be picked
up in the Book Store.

Counted as members of the class are all who will complete degrees or certificates from December
of 2021 to May of 2022 or during the Summer 2022 terms. Diplomas will be awarded for Bachelor of
Science, Associate in Science, Associate in Arts and Workforce Development Certificates. Chipola

graduates may invite family members and guests to share the event. The
ceremony will be broadcast live on YouTube.

Ricky Polston, Florida Supreme Court Justice and Chipola’s 2021
Alumnus of the Year alumnus, will deliver the commencement address.
A native of Graceville, Florida, Polston graduated from Chipola in 1975
with an A.A. degree. He went on to earn a B.S. summa cum laude, at Florida State University, where
he was named FSU’s Most Outstanding Accounting Student.

Polston became a Judge at the Florida First District Court of Appeal in 2001 until becoming a
Justice of the Florida Supreme Court in 2008. During this time, he served a two-year term as Chief
Justice of the Florida Supreme Court in 2012-14.

Chipola annual Spring Frolics will be held on Thursday, April 7 from 12-
2:45 p.m. on the lawn behind the Chipola College Cafeteria. Students will be

Organizations will have some great activities lined up for the day. There
