Indians (8-1) heading into December
The Chipola Indians (8-1) are the seventh-ranked team in the Nov. 29 FCSAA State Poll. The team plays
at home Dec. 16, 17, and 18.

Chipola slipped by East Georgia, 82-81, on Nov. 26. Jahshire Hardnett led with 20. The Indians scored a big
82-70 win over Roane State College on Nov. 25. Jamall Gregory led Chipola with 17.

Chipola beat Combine Academy, 132-49, on Nov. 19. Shamarkus Kennedy led with 21 points. The Indians
beat Reddevil’s Academy, 125-49, on Nov. 18. Eric Cobb and Carter Skaggs scored 22 points each. Cobb also
had 15 rebounds.

Chipola outlasted Snead State 80-73 on Nov. 12. Hardnett led the Indians with 23 points. Deyshawn Martin
had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Taevon Ashmeade scored 11 points. Chipola beat Wallace Hanceville 69-50 on
Nov. 11. Cobb led Chipola with 13 points. Cedric Wright scored 11. Yuat Alok added 10 points and pulled down
5 rebounds.

The Indians scored a big 103-73 win over Faith Baptist on Nov. 8. DeShawn Martin and Skaggs scored 18
apiece in the win. Chipola split a pair in the Panhandle Classic Nov. 4-5. Chipola trounced Conrad Academy,
116-65. Eric Turner led with 19 points. The Indians lost a close 82-77 game to Jones County on Nov. 5.

Lady Indians to host Women’s Florida Shootout

The Lady Indians are (7-0) as they prepare to host the Women’s Florida Shootout Dec. 2-3 in the Johnson Center.
Action begins Friday, Dec. 2, with Eastern Florida vs. Hillsborough at 1 p.m. Central Florida and ASA-Miami play at 3
p.m. St. Pete and Gulf Coast meet at 5 p.m. Chipola plays Florida SW at 7 p.m. Saturday games include: ASA Miami vs.
St. Pete at noon; Hillsborough vs. Broward at 2 p.m.; Gulf Coast vs. Eastern Florida at 4 p.m.; and Chipola vs. Central at
6 p.m.

Chipola is second in the FCSAA State Poll and the number 7 team in the NJCAA National Poll. Sydnee McDonald
is the FCSAA Player of the Week for Nov. 29. The sophomore guard from Flint, Michigan averaged 22.3 points, 7.7
rebounds, 1.7 assists and 2.0 steals and 1 block in three games. She was 52.9 percent (27-of-51) from the floor, 34.8
percent (8-of-23) from the three-point line and hit all five of her free throw attempts. She scored 18 points and 8 rebounds
in the win over ASA Miami; hit 10-of-16 field goals and scored 24 against Miami Dade and scored 25 vs. Eastern Florida

Chipola beat Miami Dade, 85-77, on Nov. 23. McDonald led with 24 points. The Lady Indians trounced ASA Miami,
91-42, Nov. 22. Danielle Garvin led Chipola with 23 points.

Chipola’s Raven Baker-Northcross was NJCAA Player of the Week on Nov. 24 and FCSAA Player of the week
on Nov. 22. The sophomore guard from Malvern, Ark., averaged 27.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in two
games. She shot 51.4 percent (19-of-37) from the floor and 52 percent (12-of-23) from the three-point line. She logged
23 points, 8 rebounds, 6 steals and 5 steals in her team’s 86-47 win over East Georgia. She had eight threes 32 points and
9 rebounds in a 76-53 win over Georgia Highlands.

•FIRST• The Chipola Foundation is accepting applications for the First Generation in College Scholarship for
the Spring 2016 semester. Students must have applied for Federal Pell Grant (FAFSA) and have been
determined to be Pell eligible and still have an unmet financial need in order to apply. Current Chipola

Generation students must have a 2.0 GPA. New students must have a 2.0 high school GPA.
Students must come from a family where neither parent has completed a bachelor’s degree. Students

The Chipola Foundation is accepting applications for the Florida Blue Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship with a deadline of Dec. 2. Up
to 9 partial $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in Spring 2017. The need-based scholarship is available to students enrolled in one of the fol-
lowing programs: Nursing Assistant, Practical Nurse, Associate Degree Nurse, Baccalaureate Degree Nurse, Emergency Medical Technician or
Paramedic.

Sen. Montford delivered the commencement address at the Chipola graduation
in 2012. He also supports the Chipola Quail Calcutta which has raised more than
$100,000 for scholarships.
