Chipola College recently held Homecoming 2026, coinciding with the nation’s 250th birthday, featuring the 4th Annual Chipola 5K Challenge, a Homecoming Tailgate, basketball games, and the presentation of the 2026 Homecoming Court.Trinity White was crowned Homecoming Queen and Parker Smelcer was named Mr. Chipola. Trinity White, nominated by Chipola TRIO, is active in Show Choir, Theatre, and TRIO leadership, and plans to transfer to Florida State University to study Graphic Design with a minor in Journalism. Parker Smelcer, nominated by the Student Government Association, serves as a Student Ambassador, is active in SGA and Turning Point USA, and plans to transfer to the University of Florida for Pharmacy.The Homecoming Tailgate, hosted by the Student Government Association, the Homecoming Committee, and Marketing & Media, included live music, food trucks, games, and a celebration of America’s 250th birthday. Basketball games against Northwest Florida State featured a Veterans Recognition and concluded with the Homecoming Court presentation.Chipola College congratulates all members of the Homecoming Court and thanks students, alumni, and community members for their participation. The Chipola College Brain Bowl team earned first place at the NAQT Florida Sectional Championship held Jan. 24 at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, finishing 10–0 in a competitive 14-team field.With the undefeated performance, Chipola secured an automatic bid to the Community College National Championship, scheduled for February 27–28 in Chicago, Illinois. Chipola enters the national tournament as the defending national champions.Head Coach Stan Young credited the team’s preparation and focus. “This group competed with confidence and discipline all day,” Young said.Team members include Devin Tharp, John Maupin, Ian Hatcher, and Jeremy Scurlock.
