CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2026!Some 695 students were eligible for graduation at Chipola College at the end of the spring semester. The Chipola College commencement ceremony was held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 7 p.m. in the Dothan Civic Center. Counted as members of the class are all who completed their degrees or vocational certificates from December of 2025 to May of 2026 or who will complete work at Chipola during the Summer of 2026. The ceremony honored graduates for their dedication and commitment to the field of education, celebrating their readiness to impact future generations.Graduates recognized include Patricia Abel, Solomon Abernathy, Braden Banta, Aryanna Baxter, Emily Ernst, Timothy Harkrider, Elizabeth Kangas, Patricia Bowden Latson, Allison Morris, Fernie Richards, Ian Sallas, Kylie Sallas, Paige Smith, Andreia Sweet, Susan Taggart and Alexandria Williams.Nursing Pinning CeremonyOn Friday, May 1, Chipola Health Sciences Department held a pinning ceremony for Spring 2026 graduates. Family and friends were invited to come watch the ceremony as these students celebrated their accomplishments.Graduates include Seth Abbott, Elisabeth Akerson, Crystal Armstrong, Ashley Balcom, Emily Brown, Isabella Clark, Kirsten Clemons, JaMariyah Engram, Matthew Flynn, Giana Garrett, Chloe King, Sarah Koyle, Emily Lamoureaux, Carly Layne, Ashley Masterson, Margaret Moulton, Keisha Moody, Sylestina Perry, Jessica Pinkerton and Kaleyah Watson.Chipola Hosts Education and Nursing Pinning Ceremonies


Chipola College is pleased to announce the return of its Dual Enrollment Summer Academy, offering high school and home school students the opportunity to earn college credit during the summer term at no cost.The six-week Summer Academy will run from June 1 through July 16, with classes held Monday through Thursday. No classes will be held during the week prior to July 4 in observance of Independence Day.Chipola’s Dual Enrollment program allows eligible students to earn college credit, gain early exposure to campus life, and accelerate progress toward their academic goals while still enrolled in high school. All tuition, fees, and instructional materials are fully covered. There is no cost to the student, the high school, or the school district.Space is limited. Interested students should contact their high school guidance counselor to confirm eligibility and complete registration.For additional information, please contact Karen Hall at 850-718-2424 or [email protected] College Baseball finished the 2026 season as the FCSAA Division I Baseball State Runner-Up following a 5-1 loss to Miami Dade in the state championship game.Chipola concluded the season with a 45-13 overall record. The team advanced to the state championship game after a season that included multiple comeback wins and walk-off victories.Chipola recorded two hits with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning in the championship game.“I’m proud of the way our team competed throughout the season,” said Chipola baseball coach Jeff Johnson. “This group showed resilience all year and accomplished a great deal both on and off the field.”Chipola Baseball Finishes Season as FCSAA State Runner-Up Chipola hosted its annual Baseball and Fireworks event on April 16 at Jeff Johnson Field. The Indians secured a win and guests enjoyed a variety of offerings from food truck vendors. The night concluded with a firework show following the game.


Chipola College is an Equal Access/Equal Opportunity InstitutionChipola College recently announced Brent Shelton as Faculty/Administrator/Other Professional of the Year and Shawn Keihn as Career Employee of the Year for 2026 at the end of year luncheon on May 6th.Brent Shelton was recognized as the Faculty/Administrator/Other Professional of the Year. Brent serves as the Director of Assessment in the Compliance and Grants department and has worked at the college since 2023. Shawn Keihn was chosen as Career Employee of the Year. Shawn servers as a Division Associate in the Instructional Affairs department and has worked at the college since 2008. The Employee of the Year award recognizes the exceptional work of Chipola’s employees. Candidates are nominated by fellow employees for exhibiting courtesy, motivation and professionalism. Annual winners receive a $1,000 bonus, reserved parking for a year, a one-year membership in AFC, and a $100 gift certificate from the college Book Store. Chipola College 2026 Employees of The YearChipola students enrolled in DEP 2102 001 Child Psychology during Spring 2026 collaborated to produce “One Step at a Time,” a children’s book exploring psychological disorders in childhood. Their contributions feature vibrant, engaging games and narratives designed to educate and inspire young readers.“As their instructor, I am immensely proud of their dedication and creativity. They thoughtfully crafted stories incorporating healthy coping strategies, while their games offer interactive elements that help redirect children’s attention away from distressing symptoms associated with various disorders,” says Ms. Linda Morales. “This marks the third publication from one of my classes, and I eagerly anticipate guiding the fall semester’s students in creating a fourth book”The students nor instructor receive any financial compensation from this project. The book exists solely as a meaningful keepsake for students and their families to cherish.
