Chipola College is excited for a wonderful 2023-24 school year! We kicked off the year yesterday (8/14) with a #FutureFocused Glow Party! C h i p o l a C e l e b r a t e s N e w S c h o o l Ye a r w i t h A n n u a l Back to School Luncheon Employees of Chipola College were recognized for years of service during the first staff meeting of the school year on August 14. Employees were awarded certificates in five-year increments. The following were recognized: Five years: Stephanie Bender, Nancy Chabot, Joshua Ellis, Kenneth Kallies, Debra Perdue, Cindy Croxton, John McCoy, Meri Mock and Debra Bragg. Ten years: Jamie McAllister, Melvin Roulhac, and Amanda Clark. Fifteen years: Steve Givens, Shawn Keihn, and Elissa Severson. Twenty years: Chasity Duke, Kristie Mosley, and Wendy Pippen. Twenty-five years: Dennis Kosciw, Gina McAllister, and Tammy Neal. Thirty years: Vikki Melton, and Rachel West. Thirty-five years: Carol Saunders. Application Deadline for Chipola Nursing Programs Chipola College is currently accepting applications for spring admission for our Associate Degree in Nursing and our Practical Nursing programs. The deadline to apply for spring admission to the ADN program is August 28 and the deadline to apply for spring admission to the PN program is Sept. 25. Students interested in applying for the ADN program must first, watch the ADN Nursing Information Session, read the ADN Information Packet, and take the Information Session quiz (This must be turned in with the application) and complete the ADN Application and return it to Health Sciences, Building Q, Office 211. Students interested in applying for the PN program must first, watch the PN Nursing Information Session, read the PN Information Packet and, complete the PN Application and return it to Dr. Trilla Mays, Dean of Health Sciences or turn it in to Health Sciences, Building Q, Office 211. Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word in Neil Simon’s comedy, Barefoot in the Park (Oct. 13-15). He’s a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she’s a free spirit always looking for the latest kick. Paul just doesn’t understand Corie, as she sees it. He’s too boring, and she just wants him to be spontaneous. General tickets may be purchased beginning Sept. 11. “Up on the Roof” Opening Night Reception will be held Friday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. in the Experimental Theatre. Join us for “bubbly” and hors d’oeuvres on our New York terrace before the show. Admission is $5. Nominated for 7 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins (Feb. 22-25, 2024) comes to Chipola’s stage. Mary Poppins is the story of the Banks family who live in a big house in London on Cherry Lane. When Mary Poppins appears at their doorstep, the family finds that she’s the answer to their prayers, but in the most peculiar way. General tickets may be purchased beginning Jan. 22. “A Spoonful of Sugar” Opening Night Reception will be held Thursday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. in the Experimental Theatre. Join us for a sweet treat and meet the cast before the show! Bring your camera. Admission is $5. Based on the popular “Fancy Nancy” books, Fancy Nancy the Musical (May 9-10, 2024) has an acclaimed Off-Broadway run, two national tours and over 100 productions worldwide. General tickets may be purchased beginning Apr. 15. Come strike a pose in our photobooth and “Get Fancy!”. The ACT (Applauding Chipola Theatre) Fund directly supports the Chipola Theatre program. Season Memberships go on sale Aug. 21. Membership levels include a number of tickets to be used throughout the 2023-2024 season. Chipola Theatre 2023-24 Season The 2023-2024 season promises to be an exciting line-up of great entertainment for all ages opening September 7, 2023 with TRIO PACIFIQUE. The Jacksonville based Trio Pacifique unites three international artists, Russian cellist Alexei Romanenko, violinist Jonathan Kuo, and Canadian pianist Christine Yoshikawa. JUDY CARMICHAEL will have audiences dancing in the aisles on January 16, 2024 with high-energy interpretations of the Great American Songbook, witty original compositions, and hilarious between-song patter: think Randy Newman meets Peggy Lee! Headed by the powerhouse creative team direct from Ireland and featuring award winning Irish and World Champion Singers, Dancers and Musicians. With over 30 Irish traditional and contemporary tunes masterfully intertwined and performed fully live by the Trinity Ensemble, the Heavenly Celtic Angels and the Dynamic Celtic Knights Dancers, the spectacular Celtic Angels Ireland is guaranteed to entertain and delight. Season ticket holders receive reserved seating renewal privileges for the next season.
