Guruji Says...

When we don’t accept
An undesired event,
It becomes anger.
When we accept it,
It becomes tolerance.

When we don’t accept uncertainty,
It becomes fear.

When we accept it,
It becomes an adventure.

Dear Students,
It was indeed a challenging year for all of you. But you all have proved
once again how strong and determined you have been to face this
challenge and adapting yourselves to the new normal.
It has also been a year of growth, learning and being free from the
bondage of unnecessary desires. There has been an unforgettable
lesson we have learnt in the past one year which is not to take anything
for granted and be grateful for every little thing we have. Keep this
lesson close to your heart while you scale newer heights in life.
The school is no longer the same without your smiling faces. We wish
to see you back in your classrooms, creating an uproar in the absence
of a teacher and being your naughty selves. We miss you in silent
corridors.
As you get ready to move into your next classes, I wish you all the very
best in life. Be good to yourself and others.
May God bless you with abundant joy, success and peace.
Best wishes and good luck in all your future endeavours.
Minni Ma’am.

Dear Friends,
A very strange year draws to a close and what is even more strange is
that we teachers got to know each and every one of you and grew close
to you without once seeing you in person. Incredible! We journeyed
to new lands, shared music, books, paintings, dance, plays with you,
introduced you to fascinating people and even stepped in and out of
galleries and theatre halls with you. Could we have done so much
together in our real school? The answer is a resounding NO! The
experience of the virtual world has changed us; I think we have
significantly advanced not only in our intelligence quotient but also
in our emotional quotient. And when we meet again on the other side,
in the real world, in the real space of our beloved school we will all
have a shared experience that has made us more aware, more sensitive
to the richness of knowledge and more than ever eager to learn.
I am glad to know you!
Swati Lal.

Dear Students,
It has been a different experience altogether for all of us. You will agree with
me that this year has taught us to look at the positive and bright side and
appreciate every little thing. We have become more accepting. The fault-
finding nature of ours have somewhere vanished in the oblivion. Being away
from each other has taught us to listen to the other more carefully. The restricted
situation has made us more curious and has led to a new awakening. They say
that distance enhances love, and exactly that has happened. This physical
distancing has made us more sensitive and compassionate. We have learnt to
stretch our hands of friendship and support the one in distress. The year 2020
has taught us how futile human power is. Perhaps we had never thought how
lucky we are to be able to go out whenever we like. We took the world and
what it had to offer, for granted.
This experience has definitely made us wiser.
Today I understand better what Guruji had said long back: “We must look for
happiness in everything we do.”
Being in lockdown has truly taught all of us that we shouldn’t take freedom for
granted, freedom is a privilege, that we should appreciate and be thankful to
have.
Ditipriya Ma’am

Dear Children,
As we near the end of another academic year, it's time to pause and
reflect on how it has been. It's been a year that will be etched in our
memories for ever. The global pandemic stopped us in our tracks and
completely changed the way we go about our lives. Our schooling
system shifted to our homes within the screens of our laptops, tabs,
mobile phone! You all have displayed remarkable adaptability and
enthusiasm to embrace this new way of learning. And, we teachers
couldn't have been happier and felt so proud to see you all face the
obstacles, boredom of home confinement with determination. The
coronavirus could not stop our learning.
As we enter the new year, filled with hope with the situation gradually
improving around us - let's pray that we are able to return to school
soon and enjoy the time with our friends and teachers and continue
our learning unhindered.
I wish you and your family, healthy and fulfilling times ahead.
Amrita Ma’am

A Cloud with a Silver Lining

Around us is a pitch dark black,
raging everywhere Covid-19s attack
There seems to be no end to this tunnel,
To this pain and suffering, we are going through,
When we would die and wither away, we would have no clue.
We hunted for a miracle, a revelation or a marvel.
Because only that could lead to our survival,
Sitting crouched in the dark of an unending night
We were greeted by tiny flickers of light.
They had always been there; we had just seen them now.
The darkness in the tunnel had dimmed somehow.
Could covid-19 not be a curse but a boon?

Has it come to earth to cleanse it,
rather than destroy it like a goon?
Doesn’t the sky seem a little bluer every day?
Aren’t the trees growing greener and gay?
Aren’t we paying more attention to our loved ones,

than we used to pay?
Is corona virus a curse or boon?
Is this pandemic such a horrible thing?
I just personally feel that it’s a cloud with silver lining.

Chitrangda Bagaria

Patience is the key…

If you want to achieve something;
Even if you are talented, even if you are perfect;

You should wait.
You should have the patience to tolerate delay,
You should have the courage to be a failure once;

If you face failure, don’t worry;
Just have Patience in Life.

Why are we scared for our exam results?
Why do we pray to god that we want to come first?

Why are we so scared of accepting failure?
Because we are not patient…

Patience teaches us our Interconnection to our Soul;
Be Happy, have patience and everything will be fine!

I have a Dog
Whose name is Mog
He likes to eat cakes

Which I bake
He is very lazy
But acts like a crazy
He smells like the flower daisy
And loves my sister Stacey

Thank you for your love- Oh Teachers

Teacher is such a word,
Whose heart is bigger than elephants herd,
When I stepped into your class,
I felt a unique atmosphere filled with love and kindness
I started my journey of knowledge with a budge and a nudge,
I came into your class to learn and grow,
But what has touched me most is the love you have showed.

The Sound of Nature

Before we were too engrossed in our worldly pleasures
To hear the rustling of leaves, the tweeting of birds,
The chirping of insects or
The roar of waves moving forward
But I can hear the sound now loud and clear
This sound is called the sound of nature.
When we were cutting its child ‘nature’ into strands
Mother Earth had to take this into her own hands
She gave us the pandemic Covid-19 as a boon
With the hopes that we’d hear the blissful sound of nature soon
So now whenever you feel the wind zipping past And the trees
thrashing around happily,
You’ll know that nature is shouting with joy
Realizing and knowing it’s free.

The Godsend in my Life

The person who helps me up when I am feeling down
Who brightens up the day for me,
when everything is looking brown
A person who also does jogging,
she doesn’t want to do with me

Because the person knows I am truly feeling unhappy
A person with whom I can laugh, joke and do anything

With whom I will dance, fight and sing
All of us are not angels, we will definitely fight
But then we will apologize and everything will become right
This person can see through all of my cheery façade
Who will be with me even as the world starts to fade

This person is surely a godsend
Who can it be, except for a friend?

Our Dear Teachers

The ones who instruct us
Our Intelligent teachers…
Some teachers are sweet,
Some teachers are delight,
They guide us, they support us.
The way they teach,
The knowledge they share.
They not only are teachers.
They are our sunshine,
They are good as God
They introduced us to our inner self,
And showed us the right way,
They are like sun's rays.

Teachers: The blessings in our life

It was another a very new journey of knowledge
When we first came into your class

Our minds were still naïve and foolish
And as fragile as glittering glass

You helped us on the path of righteousness
Patience, kindness and honesty

Without you all our hearts would be bereft
Our hearts and life would be a barren land

Without a drop of fun or a learning tree.
Teachers you are a blessing in our life

like the shining sun which glows brighter everyday
We don’t ever want to leave you
With you we always want to stay
We never come to know when

the end of the year comes crawling around
And catches us unaware without a sound
Then we weep and cry as we have to leave you

But teachers I want you to know,
that we all love you for all you do.

Weak or Strong

There was a proud teak tree in the forest. He was

tall and strong. There was a small shrub next to the

tree. The tree said, “I am very tall and strong no one

can defeat me. Hearing that the herb replied, “Dear

friend too much pride is harmful. Even the strongest

tree can fall one day.” The teak made fun of the

shrub. One day there was a storm in the forest. The

shrub bowed low. As usual the tree did not want to

bow. The storm grew stronger and stronger. The

tree was not able to resist the strong winds. He felt

his strength draining out. He fell down. This was

the end of the proud tree. When everything calmed

down, the shrub stood straight and saw the tree

was fallen down. Tejas Agarwal

Adventurous Birthday!

The day was just near; my birthday was on its way. I had
already thought how I would celebrate my birthday. I would
call all my friends, relatives and I would go to a horror house.
As I was sitting in my drawing room thinking about this, my
doorbell rang. It was evening, was worried to open my door. I
thought my sister must have come, but I was surprised there was
a postman! I was thinking who had sent me a post? I took the
post and opened it. The post was sent by my closest friend,
Purvi. She had written me a letter. The letter said:

Dear Debanshi, Dark Caves D Prf. Lab
A
I've got a letter from professor Professor's R Dragon’s
Winky, saying that he has found Laboratory K Cave
that some animals having Powers. R
He has said that those animals do I
anything said to them. Those V
animals are now with some E
hunters. We have to save them. R
Please hurry to his place. I know
that you don't know where he
lives so I am sending you a map of
his place please come over fast.

-Purvi

I was shocked hearing this! I called Purvi but her phone was
switched off. I booked a flight ticket which would be leaving in
half an hour. I was so panicked; I packed my bag and just booked
an Uber. After I had reached the airport I boarded the flight and
reached USA. I waited for a taxi and the taxi came after half an
hour! I went to the professor's Laboratory where I found Purvi.
"At last you came, I am wanting from 2 hours!" she said. I said
sorry to her. I also asked her that where Professor Winky is. She
said that the hunters also caught Professor. I said that let us
rescue the animals and the professor. She said that the hunters
have kept them in the Dark Caves and to reach the dark caves
we have to cross the Dark River. I asked what is there to wait
come-on.
We went to the Dark Cave and saw there that the hunters would
be going out in or a few hours to eat their food. So we waited
and waited, and finally they came out after a full day. We were
just going to go to the professor when suddenly the hunters
came. I thought of a plan and then told Purvi. The plan was that
whenever the hunters sleep we will free Professor and Purvi
agreed to the plan. Then after 1 hour the hunters slept and we

ran to rescue the Professor, after freeing him we asked him what
about the animals. He said "If we don't rescue the animals in 50
seconds they will be the slaves of the hunters." 50-49-48-47-
46…. I, Purvi and Professor freed the animals in 35 seconds and
after rescuing them I and Purvi thought this was fully
adventurous! I took out my mobile phone and saw the date and
time, it was 23rd April and the time was 7:00 p.m. I shouted
outside the cave that it was my BIRTHDAY!! Purvi and
Professor wished me Happy Birthday!
I thought to myself "By setting the animals free, I felt very
happy from the core of my heart. This was the biggest gift I could
give myself on my birthday. I feel so blessed because I have set
the magical animals free!!"

The year 2020

I was on my way to bed that night when I heard the news on the
television that there was going to be a lockdown in India due to
Covid-19. I stood there terror struck. No words came out of my

mouth and at that exact moment I knew that this year was going
to be ruined. I couldn't sleep that night and was so sad the next
day that not even meeting my friends cheered me up. But the get
together was cancelled thanks to Covid-19. Then it was
announced that online classes were going to start from April, so
I cheered up a bit. I was really excited to start studying on this
new online learning platform, Edmodo. The whole year online
classes went on but it was still not the same as actually going
to school having fun with friend in recces but we made the most
of it. Then I had a good feeling about 2021 but it was announced
that there was going to be a mutant Covid-19 and a new virus
had been created while working on the vaccine for Covid-19
which was called Black Fungus. India launched its vaccine on
16 January, but it was limited to healthcare workers and
frontline staff. A sanitation worker became the first Indian to
receive the vaccine. From March 1, the eligibility criteria
expanded to include people over 60 and those who are between
45 and 59 but have other illnesses. This inspired restaurants and
movie theatres to open up. Soon I think that to get into movie
theatres and hotels being vaccinated will become a necessity.

But the question to conclude these difficult times is will we ever
get back the good old days?

The scary house

There was a gigantic house beside my own house. Whenever I
used to ask my parents or grandmother that why was the huge
house empty, they used to say in a nasal voice ‘Two people died
in the house and their spirits were living there. This story was
repeated to me by everyone living in my neighborhood. When my
parents took my grandmother for her cardio surgery, I was
felling lonely so, I went for a walk. I came near the gigantic
house and held the iron gate. In my first look I saw a group of
ravens sitting on the bare branches. When my feet fell on the dry
and crunchy leaves, they made a sound and all the ravens looked
at me. They were not just huge but massive, with a thick neck,
shaggy throat feathers and a bowie knife of a beak. I saw a
colony of bats flying towards me as they were warning me not
to enter the house. They were fat as if they had eaten a basket of
insects.

I thought of going inside the house and camp there. So on the
next day I informed my parents that I was going out with my
friends. But in real, I was going inside the scary house. I packed
my bag with a tent, clothes, a bar of chocolate, a batch of cake
and a box of rice, dal and chicken. I went inside the house I saw
a ground where I could place my tent, first I placed my tent then
I took a torch and opened the rusty door swinging open. It made
a high groaning sound. I saw very old pictures hanged their but
what made me start thinking, the whole house was neat and
clean. But an old rusty house will have dust all over but I didn’t
give much importance to it. I went further inside the house.A
smoke screen was created. I thought ghost had started ‘jadu’ so
I decided to go out. I placed the heels of my foot softly and
walked outside the house silently. On that night I went inside
the house again as I was curious to know what happened in the
morning. I opened the door and went further inside and when my
feet fell on the button which was hidden inside the mat, it closed
the door. I saw the button as it got uplifted so I did not panic.
What made me start thinking was the button which was not

there in morning, so I thought why would a scary house have
traps. I went further inside and saw the smoke screen again
which I saw in morning, so I observed it carefully. I saw a screen
was kept there and I was not able to see it in the morning as I
was in a hurry. Then I saw a projector also which was kept
beneath the table rapped with a dirty cloth. I broke the screen
which was made up of cotton and polyester, so it was easy to
break. Then I saw someone who crossed beside me and started
to dance in front of me. I noticed that she wore heels so I stopped
her hilarious dance and told her to reveal all the myths of the
house. She said a rich person kept her here, so that she could
scare if any person comes to this house and she protected his
money which was kept under this old house. I asked her who is
‘he’. She said, “mafia, he is the owner of this old house.” I
informed the police they caught the girl and the mafia. He was
the rich man as he had so much money hidden beneath the house
and the money was given to the government for the wellbeing of
the society.

A Cat that eats plastic

Come on Mili! I said to my cat. We were looking for haunt
flowers for my Biology assignment. Haunt flowers were a
strange purple flower which were a phosphorescent pink in the
middle, they looked very eerie in moonlight and that’s why they
were named haunt flowers! We had literally searched
everywhere for them, except for the Black Forest. I was
considering giving up, when suddenly Mili stiffened up and ran
off into the dark trees of the Black Forest. I groaned, “Off all the
places the lazy cat could run off to, she had to run off into the
creepiest forest in my town!” Well I couldn’t just leave her there!
I followed Mili, who was dashing between hanging vines and
branches. Suddenly Mili stopped and then ran off into the fog,
and when the fog cleared, I realized that where Mili had gone to.
The Kentardelle Manor, the huge manor that was known to be
haunted by the ghosts of dead tigers, who killed anyone who
dared to come close.
Branches all around us were waving eerily in the breeze, ravens
were perched everywhere and the clear sky had clouded over.
How was it that every time something eerie happened somehow

always these three factors were always present. Just then I saw
a light through one of the windows and I was surprised, who is
using a light in the haunted house!? I went up to the steel gates,
pushed them open and ventured inside. I was shivering with fear
and I whispered, “Mili, where are you? Come here and I will feed
you full fat milk for the rest of your life!” Suddenly Mili came in
front of me and miaow-ed her loudest, which seemed like a
murmur next to the thunderous roar that came from the corner
of the room! It sent jitters down my spine! A huge tiger
sauntered over, I was terrified… It was the ghost of the manor!
But the tiger was actually not seeming very angry and
dangerous, it seemed more lonely and forlorn.
My heart melted at the sight, and I patted it. Wait, I patted it,
which means it isn’t a ghost! Mili jumped on the tiger and they
both started playing with each other. After a minute the tiger,
who I decided to call Julian walked up to a huge basket full of
plastic, and began eating it. I cried to warn him not to eat it, but
actually he seemed quite content and didn’t seem to be having
any ill effects from eating the plastic! And that was then that I
noticed that there was no bulb in the room, all the light had been
coming from Julian’s tail, which was glowing! I was bewildered

and shocked and decided to call up my Biology Teacher, Amrita
Ma’am. When she saw the tiger, she balked and cried,
“Chitrangda, do you know what you have discovered! This is a
lumi-tiger, which went extinct 2 million years ago! Its diet
consists of bio-degradable items.” I was astonished! Ma’am
continued, “Don’t tell anyone about this, the lumi-tiger had
been poached and killed 2 million years ago because of its
luminous tail. If we are able to find more tigers around these
parts, and if this tigress breeds more, then maybe we can free our
planet of this huge burden of plastic. “Wait maam” I said
confused. “Isn’t Julian a male? And what do you mean breed
more?” Amrita maam smiled and said, “This is not a Julian but
a Julie, she’s female, and that’s not all. It is extremely clear to
me that Julie is going to give birth to a child very soon. I gasped.
After 10 years I was living in a beautiful planet free of excess
plastic and remembering this day. How wondrous and
experience searching for flowers had amounted to be!

Editorial note

The year, 2020-2021 has been extremely relaxing for some of us, may be
extremely irritating for many and perhaps strange for some. Some of us
might have postponed major plans for this year; we might have been looking
forward to something big this year such as moving to a new class, going for
a vacation. After all for the first 5-6 months of the lockdown, nobody dared
to go outside unless it was something really important! But, for many people
who work all day and don’t really have that much time to spend with their
family, it was probably extremely relaxing!

This year was enjoyable as we could spend more time with our family,
playing games, bonding or maybe just talking. The children in our class
discovered so many different hobbies like baking, sewing, digital editing,
literature, etc.

No one can deny how much more tech savvy almost everyone of us has
become! We cannot even remember a time when we didn’t use video calling
software as much!

We all know that smoke from vehicles was causing pollution. Have you
noticed that when the cars had greatly decreased to almost none on the
roads, then the air was so much more clearer, the water was a lot more
cleaner and nature was generally much more beautiful and pollution- free!
Strange animals broke into our building’s vicinity. So many colourful birds
suddenly appeared on our trees which we couldn’t see before. Nature is so
much freer!

And surely all of us have got so much more hygienic as well, haven’t we? For
all the parents out there who couldn’t get us to wash our hands or stop us
from biting our nails, who knew that the solution would come in the form of
a pandemic Covid-19! So maybe we couldn’t meet our friends or celebrate
our birthdays as grandly as usual, we can’t really say that Covid-19 was all
bad, there’s a whole lot of good in it too!
